Avatar m tn I'm trying to find out if anyone has had a similar situation to mine and how they've dealt with it. For the past month I've had anxiety about driving on the interstate, especially when I think I might get stuck in traffic. It started when I had some stomach bug which caused me to get extremely nauseous when I was driving and I had to pull over ASAP and find a place to vomit or use the bathroom.
Avatar n tn I know what you are going through! I have battled anxiety of driving on the interstate for about 4 years. It all started when I had my very first Panic Attack while driving alone on the interstate. I thought I was having a heart attack and was going to die alone at the age of 28 yrs old with a yound wife and a 6 month old daughter. It was terrifying! I am almost over the driving fear, but it has been a long a process. I have good days and bad days.
Avatar m tn Some people with panic and anxiety disorder have a fear of driving on highways. It is more common than you would think. Do you notice any significant amount of anxiety off the road, or is it only when you are driving? I would see your doctor.
105530 tn?1279585282 I'm just over terrified of being in a car. I'm scared to death I will be hurt in a wreck or killed. Or even the person I'm with. It scareeesss mee sooo bad! I seriously, cry in the car. I keep my eyes closed on the interstate, and freak out and take gasps of air when the light turns green. It's a horrible feeling.. Strange thing is though... when I'm driving it's NOT AS BAD.. But I still get panic attacks, just not as horrible.
909822 tn?1242700047 What you are experiencing is anxiety, and the anxiety over driving on the freeway is bringing on the symptoms you are describing. I don't like it either, and I get really light headed, sort of feel "unreal" and like I will loose control and go off the road. I hate it. It is a form of anxiety attack, and even though you are not having an attack when you start out driving, your sub-conscious is very anxious and this in turns brings on those horrid feelings.
Avatar m tn Here are my symptoms for that started over a year ago 1. I get like this feeling like im going to pass out / lightheaded / vision is weird (light sensitivity).
Avatar n tn I am 55 years old and had great vision and wore no lenses of any sort until about 2 years ago. I have developed presbyopia and was diagnosed with a bit of astigmatism in my right eye then. For most of the 2 years, I had glasses, which I seldom wore. I got by with the cheap reading glasses from the pharmacy and seldom wore my prescription glasses, since they would only stay clean for what seemed like a few milliseconds.

Avatar m tn it has really picked up in the past year due to coming across sued needles on the ground. I seem to come across most of them on the roads while driving. but every time I see one, my anxiety sky rockets. I have a fear of even driving by a used needle and thinking it could be contaminated with hepatitis b or c. its as though I fear blood from the needle will get on my car or tires and then on to me. really cant comprehend how to deal with this.

Avatar n tn I am a college professor and was in class two of the times, and driving home on the Interstate the last time. It seemed the room was spinning. Thought I was going to pass out, but held on to desk. Then, on Interstate, could ardly stay in my lane. Expected to crash as couldn't stay in lane and tried to exit. I did and pulled off, and like the two previous times, it only lasted 1 minute max. Then, I was OK. The first time, thought it was because needed food (had eaten 5 hrs.
1451789 tn?1285014503 I live my life in fear of these things. Even thinking about them makes me dizzy. I got one while driving on the interstate once. It was so terrible. I almost crashed my car. I can go in to more detail, but someone, PLEASE someone must know what these things are?? I am healthy and in shape. I have no diseases etc. Thankyou.
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar m tn My short-term memory is not as sharp as it used to be. Also, my short-term memory's not as sharp as it used to be. I may be schizophrenic, but at least I have each other. In Memorium With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week. Larry LaPrise, the man who wrote "The Hokey Pokey", died peacefully at age 93.
Avatar f tn Do some deep breathing in the car, roll the window down, turn on music and try not to hyper focus on either the person driving and if you are driving, keep those deep breaths going. But I think it will help to discuss some medication with your doctor dear. I really do. Lots of luck and I know it is hard.
Avatar m tn m not alone on this 2years ago I was driving on the second fast lane of the high way at a fast speed of about 140km/hr then I felt like I saw something crossing the high way and as if I was feeling dizzy then I had to put my hazards on in the middle of the highway pulled over then I was fine then after 2 days this dizziness started I couldn't drive with a speed of over 100km/hr until now I don't even know what to do now as I can't afford to go to these expensive doctors
Avatar f tn Thankfully it seems as though his latest trial meds have been working great for him. Anyway, I was driving us home on the interstate after picking him up from work when out of nowhere I had a contraction. I could barely breathe through it let alone talk my hubby had to lean over to take the wheel and we managed to stop in the shoulder. All this in 2 mins time... which was how long the contraction was.
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
2019697 tn?1334150247 I know I have all my marbles and my head screwed on but I just dont feel right. I feel on the verge of panic constantly. When I do calm down, it is an uneasy calm I've been through this many times but it is still hard. Can anyone offer advice? Eventhough I am going through this on the inside, my outward self probably looks the same to everyone.
Avatar f tn We were riding down the interstate after the last dr appt. Hubby was driving and I had the window down. Just as my hubby got over to let a car merge on (which put their window beside mine) I got a hard kick in the ribs. It hurt so bad I screamed a little. (I called it a yelp, they said scream) Well the car beside me turned out to be a cop. Who gave us some very hard looks before driving on.
Avatar n tn When adjusting to wearing a mask and using the machine, maybe it would help to remind yourself that you really are suffocating repeatedly all night long with untreated sleep apnea. This air up your nose will prevent that suffocation. It is literally your lifeline. Embrace it, take it in as the very breath of life. I don't know what kind of mask they tried on you, but there are different styles, and another may suit you more. I use one called nasal pillows.

8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
