fear

Avatar n tn Are you in your mid to late twntys?
Avatar f tn About 2 years ago I had a very sudden and acute fear of driving over bridges. It came out of nowhere! I was pregnant with daughter at the time and was very swollen/off balance with the pregnancy. It felt like my car would just go over the side and I was petrified. Since then, I have avoided bridges that I deem 'too risky' - low sides, very high, feeling like you aren't touching the ground, etc. I feel as if I'm crazy!
Avatar f tn lll become incredibly anxious. This is managable by turning the lights on, but my other problem is driving in the dark. I have to put the inside light on in my car and keep checking behind me both of which aren't safe. In the past I had two minor panic/anxiety attacks from driving in th rk and I dont know how to cope with it. I'm embarrased to tell family and friends and find myself making excuses for why I can't travel home at night. Does anyone have any advice?
105530 tn?1279585282 I am terrified of turkeys. Live turkeys. When I lived on a farm in middle school we had turkeys and I swear they were plotting my death. They would chase after me clucking and pecking at my feet. They were trying to trip me so they could pluck at my eyes out, I just know it. I tried to make an egg nog custard pie last year for Christmas, Paula Dean made it with her son Jamie. I LOVE egg nog and I was so excited to have everyone try it.
637722 tn?1245086059 I can drive in most situations now but it seems, as I get older the fear of winter driving gets worse. I know why I feel the way I do; it is the fear of ‘being out of control’. When I know there is something between my tires and the road that can cause me to slide I get the ‘panicky’ feeling. I have been in counseling for depression (because my son was addicted to heroin) and the subject of driving in the snow/ice was addressed but not to the point that I am over it.
909822 tn?1242700047 I had no idea why driving on the highway started to bother me either but it did. I avoided the highway at all cost, but knew that I had to beat this thing because driving is something that i always loved to do. What i do is just get out there on the roads that bother me most(with a friend), and when the anxiety hits, I just deal with it until it goes away instead of running away ( like i use to do). Being that I have someone with me it helps me to deal with it better.
Avatar f tn m sorry you feel this way and have such great fear of snow. While it is reasonable to have fear of driving in snow---- perhaps you are talking about the level of your reaction? I know that I too do not like driving in snow. I live in an area where there is often ice beneath it and have had a few bad driving experiences. So . .. I get my groceries (like EVERYONE else, wow, our grocery is packed if there is bad weather in the forecast . . .
Avatar f tn Oh Boy, have I been where you are! My suggestion to you is get right back on that horse! About five years ago, I had a dramatic car accident and stopped driving for about six months to a year. I started driving again and I won't go into how I did that but the highway driving, just isn't in the cards for me right now...but, I was determined to drive to my daughter's place that would take about 30 minutes by car and about one hour on back roads.
Avatar n tn This has happens to me every time I get on the freeway I don’t drive cause I’m still a teenager but I got fear of curves after I was in a car accident the occur during a curve it gets me anxious when I’m in one I haven’t talk to my parents about this cause I don’t really communicate about my feelings.
Avatar m tn But for an unrelated reason I had to stop taking my blood pressure mediation for three weeks...and all of a sudden I notice I was driving on the highway with zero anxiety or dizziness (I drove out to our lake house - normally I have to pull over to have my wife finish the majority of the 2 hour drive). I just thought it was an anomaly and still didn't put two and two together. I then went back to my doctor who put me on a different blood pressure medication.
Avatar f tn need I say more? The fear of being stuck in traffic and suddenly needing to go is a real fear based on a real problem. Generally I prepare for trips, and if shopping, make it a focused shop. No more aimless driving. I have to have a plan and stick to it. Same in stores: meandering around in a hugh store is sure to bring on panic. So again I now plan and stick to it. One department for shoes. No checking out several stores or departments.
598974 tn?1221675462 It is kind of hard to explain the feeling but I have to pull over on the side of the road . Then as soon as I am stopped my symptoms seem to go away? But then I get back on the highway and they return? I have three children and cannot drive with them anymore in fear I will get in an accident with them on long road trips. I just dont understand what is going on? I am 26 and have good vision as far as I know. I have never had problems with this before and have never been in an accident.
1281527 tn?1272911525 I did finally make it to the highway though. A light rain glistened on the newly paved highway as I turned onto the smooth black asphalt. Since I have cruise control, I use it so I don't get any tickets, because I’m here to tell you, this car has LEGS! Fast legs! This was eerily different though. The fear and loathing I felt were palpable as I eased the speedometer up to 56 miles an hour, and set the cruise control. So far so good…but listen on.
Avatar m tn My question is, if the car that was from of me somehow splashed the dead animal brain tissue or its saliva in the air and it got on my hand or inside the car from the sunroof opening, what is the risk of transmission in this case? The animal must have been dead for at least 12 hours. Thanks.
Avatar n tn My main objective is to give you some insight into your chronic phobia of the dark. The fear of the dark is a very valid phobia to begin with and could branch into many other more specific phobias, such as nyctophobia, the fear of the darkness and the main one I wish to talk to you about now. Nyctophobia is any fear of darkness and it does not have to be chronic. It is usually caused by a magnification of the brain's natural perception of what could happen in a dark environment.
Avatar m tn m not alone on this 2years ago I was driving on the second fast lane of the high way at a fast speed of about 140km/hr then I felt like I saw something crossing the high way and as if I was feeling dizzy then I had to put my hazards on in the middle of the highway pulled over then I was fine then after 2 days this dizziness started I couldn't drive with a speed of over 100km/hr until now I don't even know what to do now as I can't afford to go to these expensive doctors
Avatar n tn My case was similar in the fact that I have had no previous signs of depression or anxiety in my 34 years. I woke up the day after Christmas and just didn't feel right. I wanted to sleep thinking I would wake up and it would all be gone. I was still functioning but started to lose weight. I wasn't scared to go out anywhere, but I much preferred to be at home since it is my comfort zone. I went to the Doctor just to see if I had something wrong.
Avatar f tn You are both suffering from a very common phobia. Fear of the dark goes back to the dawn of man and since that time, millions of people have fought it all there lives. Please do not berate yourselves for this phobia or think you are silly for being afraid of the dark at your age. Our phobias are ours to own and suffer with as long as we do nothing about them. Since both of you have stated that your phobia is now interfering with your lives, it's time to take the bull by the horns!
628109 tn?1224363913 Ive heard of AIDS phobia and I do believe part of my fear is because of the terminal nature of HIV. The more I research it, the more i get freaked out. I just need some honest input, please and thank you.
Avatar f tn Yes! I have had years of imagined illnesses. I was obsessed with HIV for years. The mind is more powerful than the body.
Avatar f tn Exactly, I have an extreme phobia for HIV. At the same time, I cannot even resist myself from having sex. But I never have penetrative sex only handjob and insertive oral. Thanks for your answer.
1222635 tn?1366396286 It is absolutely terrifying to the point I have had to leave my home because I was positive that something was going to happen or have to get out of the car and sit on the side of the road until it passes. I need help!
Avatar f tn IE I am terrified of storms i have a phobia and it is made worse when I am home alone and a storm comes up i will do anything to keep from being alone eCen if that means driving to wal-mart to be with someone there have been times i would hear thunder and climb in the closet turn the tv wide open to drown the sound out and close every blind to not see the lighting they have even caused me panic attacks in short i have a phobia and it *****!!!!!!!!!
Avatar f tn And have vomited quite a bit once. My biggest fear is having to throw up while driving on the highway. I am constantly in the car due to the fact I work in home health.
Avatar f tn Do some deep breathing in the car, roll the window down, turn on music and try not to hyper focus on either the person driving and if you are driving, keep those deep breaths going. But I think it will help to discuss some medication with your doctor dear. I really do. Lots of luck and I know it is hard.
424549 tn?1308515502 I have the same fear or phobia of spiders. I can go completly out of my mind at just the sight of one, be it small or ehhhhhhhh. I can't even talk about it. Anyway, I was told that I would have to let one walk up my arm and feel there leg's on my skin. RIGHT.. I think I'll carry this fear to my grave.
Avatar f tn I see thank you , i m just concern towards the fact that if there is a risk if someone touches the condom and then the penis itself the head part of the penis without the condom? I am uncircumcised.
394991 tn?1214255907 t usually have to go on the highway, but we did today, and the speed of the highway made my symptoms get a lot more exaggerated. The best way I can describe the feeling is that it felt like I was on a rollercoaster with no seatbelt and no sides on the car. Like the car was going to fly off the road at any second. I went to the ER the 2nd time this happened when I was driving and they did tons of tests..EKG, pregnancy test, CT scan, chest x-rays, and found nothing.
719902 tn?1334165183 I was biten on the foot as a child, but I cant remember what type of spider it was and 16 years later I can still see the marks on the bottom of my foot!!! Thats probably why I'm so scared of spiders now.
