Avatar n tn I highly recommend the follwing resources to help you over-come this fear of driving. In my opinion they are priceless and well worth the money. If you can afford them, I would order them today so you can get your recovery on the road. They have been instrumental in my recovery and I actually keep them in the car with me, just in case. 1) The Driving Fear Program - www.drivingfear.
3159640 tn?1430907300 Hello all, Yesterday I grabbed a big handful of napkins out of a dispenser and had to stick my hand in a bit to get them out. I felt a sensation on my hand, it may have been one of my nails hitting my hand, but of course I thought "hiv infected needle poke". I lifted up the napkins (a ritual compulsion I know!) and saw what I thought was a line of white napkin dust, but in my mind it could have been a syringe. I did not study it excessively and then I left.
Avatar m tn Health anxiety can really be a pain in the you know what. If you have been cleared medically, then chances are OVERWHELMINGLY stacked in your favor that you are okay. But all too often that 'what if' thinking pops into our heads. Of course there is always a what if, but we also take a risk by walking down the street, driving our cars, etc. Have you ever thought of talking to a therapist about this?
1804812 tn?1329677557 Boy, can I relate!! MANY of us can! This goes hand in hand with panic. " I am known as the "back roads" queen because I can get to just about anywhere on small streets and county roads. I always feel like I need to have a place I can pull over". Me too! LOL. I HATE highways. I explored this fear with my therapist years ago, and she explained to me that the fear stems from our basic fear of becoming "trapped" somewhere, with no option of "escape".
1074864 tn?1256932915 You are not actually fearful of driving or travelling itself, but rather the fear of losing control if you have another panic attack. This is because when we have a panic attack, the first thing we want to do is to retreat to our "safe place", which for most people is our home. The further away from our comfort zone, the more uncomfortable we feel.
Avatar f tn t a fact and was able to deal with it. I also hyperventilated so read that if you have ice water with you, drinking it of course, you can't hyperventilated. The Community Leader who is normally here is on vacation. I hope others will stop by to help with suggestions though keep in mind this is a holiday weekend so will be slow. Have you seen a doctor? They could help you tremendously.
Avatar n tn I too struggle with panic attacks and the fear of them returning. Have you talked to your dr about this? You might want to consider talking with a therapist. I do know that if you let the fear take over your mind it is only going to get worse. The best advice I can give you is to talk to someone and try to face the fear. Get back in your car and go for a drive even if it is only around the block. Each time you do it it will get easier. You have to take your control back.
Avatar m tn Hi! I never had any problems with my driving until my syrinx got too large and caused me to have foot drop with both feet. I have to wear braces on both feet now so that I am able pick them up off the floor to walk. With no braces on, I can't control my feet well enough to push pedals, and with braces on my feet are kept at a 90 degree angle so I can't push the pedals lol. I am still licensed to drive, though!
Avatar m tn i was driving confidently for the last 8 years. suddenly start to fear driving especially curves...now i could not take the vehicle in the middle of the road..i try to avoid and automatically i drive on left side of the road instead of straight...so i loose balance..i am sittiting also slightly towards left...this problem is giving me sleepless night...please advise me..........
8377023 tn?1399509160 My biggest fear out of everything is my water breaking while driving their car. I am absolutely terrified that this is going to happen. I have already gotten contractions while driving with one of the twins, thankfully the contractions weren't crazy bad, and this happened today. I dont know what to do besides calling their aunt, Chris, my mom and my doctor. Like what should I tell their aunt if that happens? To just meet me at the hospital or what?
1785438 tn?1314987935 Hi. Unfortunately this all evolves around your anxiety and you're developing Agoraphobia which will hold you prisoner in your home (safe place). Driving is a big trigger for many with panic attacks it goes along with Agoraphobia, fear of open places and fear you'll have a panic attack, the feeling of being "trapped" wherever you are.

Avatar m tn I spend hours replaying that night (and other nights too) in my mind to make certain I have no memory of hitting anyone. Of course, this is impossible because that party was two years ago and I only watched the movie one year ago. How could I possibly remember the whole trip in detail? Too much time has passed. Several times I have been close to calling the town police station to make sure nothing bad happened.
Avatar n tn Hi HamiltonM, I posted a comment about 6 years ago about fear of driving in curves. Especially curves ciming downhill. I feel my car will tilt over. I noted your comment about similar symptoms. I haven't been in this chat room since then...anyway I wanted to know if anything helped your situation?
Avatar f tn t you get a dashboard camera (you could probably use your smartphone if it has enough memory). Record yourself driving. When you feel this fear, check the video and you will see that you have not hot anyone. At first, try driving for a short distance and then check the video. Then try driving a longer distance. You will be doing some self-exposure therapy and will have solid evidence that nothing bad has happened. Hang in there!
2216810 tn?1420856876 Of course! I know what it feels like to feel alone and scared of your own thoughts! It's quite terrifying. Look in to yoga poses online if anything. Researching coping strategies will help you to not only be distracted but also you will find helpful information. Good luck!
Avatar f tn need I say more? The fear of being stuck in traffic and suddenly needing to go is a real fear based on a real problem. Generally I prepare for trips, and if shopping, make it a focused shop. No more aimless driving. I have to have a plan and stick to it. Same in stores: meandering around in a hugh store is sure to bring on panic. So again I now plan and stick to it. One department for shoes. No checking out several stores or departments.
Avatar f tn I have been having a lot of issues lately and I have all the sudden developed a crazy fear of driving. I am scared when I drive but I am rediculous when I am the passenger. I literally scream and **** my eyes and put my hands in front I my face. I don't know why this is happening. I have not had any bad experiences in a car. It just seems like more and more bad things are happening with me now :/ I do not even feel like a regular person anymore.
Avatar m tn If you are dealing with anxiety, I think it would be very beneficial for you to talk things over with a therapist. Those of us with anxiety will often latch onto a fear and we are pros at blowing things out of proportion. You're gonna be OK, OK?
Avatar m tn i do not recognize the virus itself as the big hazard we fear if the predicted damage is not occurring. Monetary cost of this course of treatment is $100.00 to $150.00 per treatment (materials only). My insurance will not pay for said materials but they do pay 80% of each visit to the naturpath. To learn more check out Dr Mark Berkson of Las Cruzes New Mexico. Pretty easy to find on a google search.
Avatar n tn I'm not a physician. My understanding of the virtual colonoscopy (thinking of having one myself instead of actual colonoscopy) is that it cannot see very small polyps and of course if there is one it CAN see you'll have to follow up with an actual colonoscopy. But if there is a facility within reasonable driving distance, the virtual colonoscopy is supposed to be excellent. If there's a growth large enough to block your intestine it will be seen.
Avatar f tn saying to me i feel dizzy its always someting when hes punished. yet he fell asleep quite quickly. but of course to me he won the battle the night again as i was up and down to him. r u o.
Avatar m tn but every time I see one, my anxiety sky rockets. I have a fear of even driving by a used needle and thinking it could be contaminated with hepatitis b or c. its as though I fear blood from the needle will get on my car or tires and then on to me. really cant comprehend how to deal with this.
Avatar f tn This chemical is not going to cause me to get cancer because of this one time exposure. Now if I repeatedly used it over the course of many years without wearing gloves, etc. then yes, I probably have an increased chance for whatever type of cancer this chemical causes. The same goes for xrays. It is the build up of time of radiation that is the problem and we are talking about a huge amount of radiation needed. So try your best to let it go.
