famvir tablets

It should've been 2 500mg famvir tablets to take 2x/day for 1 day. Is that what you were given or just 1 500mg pill?

In the following years (2007-2009) i have only had 3-4 outbreaks. when i get an outbreak i use famvir, 2 tablets at first then 1 every 12 hours for 3 doses. these always worked quickly and the outbreaks were never severe and didn't last longer than a week or so start to finish. In the last 2 weeks (jan 2010) i had a small outbreak that i immediately took my usual dose of famvir for and it cleared up, almost totally within 5-7 days.

There is medication that you can take while your pregnant so I would assume there is cold sore remedies too. Go speak to the pharmacist.

I just wanted to know what are the symptoms of herpes if it occurs inside urethra of men or does it occur inside urethra, as i have been through chamdlya test which came out negative a urine culture which also came normal and a urethra swab for culture test which also came negative then the urologist treated me with rociphin 2g iv for 7 days but then after 7 months suddenly on my penis herpes simplex has occured which is now been treated with zovirax 10g ointment and famvir 250mg oral tablets.

however, around a month after recieving the oral sex i got symptoms of redness and a little inflamation on the head of my penis (im not sure if this was herpes or not) and i took my famvir tablets as prescibed and it clearly up within a week. 3 months later i had a herpes outbreak (i know it was herpes this time, classic symptoms) and again i took famvir and it cleared up within a week or so. that was in january 2009, and now its june and i have had another herpes outbreak.

If it was a canker sore, why did it react to the Famvir? Does Famvir still have an effect on canker sores then, as well as cold sores? Am I contagious? Was I ever contagious? And can I actually kiss my husband again? Thanks for any advice! Much appreciated.

Did you tested for HHV 6 ?? It is know to cause neuropathic symtoms. Hope you feel better soon.

So i just came back from the doctor and she basically told me i have herpes without even doing a blood test. I asked her why she didn't do one and she said shes going to wait until i finish the tablets she gave me...i still dont understand why she didn't just do the blood test.. Also i was given sandoz-famciclovir for 7 days..has anyone heard of that? I was also given zovirax 5% a cream..now im wondering if thats to apply to my cold sore...or do genital herpes..

You need to be taking the antiviral all the time to help prevent EM. Are you doing this or just when an outbreak occurs? Some people find antihistamines helpful. A little dangerous of me to suggest perhaps but they are freely available drugs. You can take daily fexofenadine and ranitidine tablets.

I hope someone can help. I've had horrible recurring pain in my right eye for over a year. Went to Optho. multiple times and was told it was an infected oil gland. I was put on low dose antibiotics for over 6 months and told to apply warm compresses and scrub eye with a baby shampoo/water solution. have been now 5 months outbreak free (leading a really healthy lifestyle). My doctor prescribed me for my outbreaks famvir, 125 mg twice a day during 5 days. I have a girlfriend and we have talked about this and both of us would like to make sex without condoms. We have sex each 2/3 weeks. I wouldnt like to take suppresive therapy daily, if we are having sex each 2 / 3 weeks (wich is very little). Taking this in mind what would be considered an effective suppresive therapy?

d like for us to be able to have oral sex, but not if it will further spread the virus. We are both taking Famvir daily and almost never have outbreaks. I also know that it is possible to spread the virus without an outbreak. Please don't suggest condoms or dental dams - I'd rather just skip it altogether. Also, I know that prophylactics often don't protect against spreading the virus.

i doubt you have developed a tolerance for famvir. I believe cortisone can affect the immune system, and it's very probable that it's causing an ob. The sores in your mouth may be cankers, which are related to stress and immune system overload. Talk to your doc and see if you can get off that cortisone!

i know that valtrex and famvir are different family of anti-viral's. has anyone had poor results with valtrex and had to change to famvir? i don't seem to be responding to valtrex or acyclovir so i might change.

Has anyone had better results with Famvir? And does it help suppress transmission like Valtrex does? My Dr thinks the Valtrex might be causing my hair loss so I am switching....

Also my doctor prescribed famvir but I don't have genital herpes. Can Famvir help with penis pain?

Acyclovir is the cheapest option though you can also use valtrex or famvir. Topicals are helpful when you have an ob but they do nothing to reduce the number of ob's you are having or reduce shedding of the virus.

All test were negative. The doctor prescribed Flagyn which after taking the four tablets showed a vast improvement in my discomfort and after 5 days the symptoms had cleared. For two months I had no syptoms or problems however I had refrained from any sexual intercourse. In June I engaged in intercourse again and this seems to have started the ball rolling. First with the smell (fishy) and then discharge and more recently a lesion at the bottom opening of my vagina.

I'm on famvir for suppression, I had a cultural swab done a year ago at a clinic, I pretty well knew I had contracted the virus because the initial outbreak was crucial. The babies father knows of me having it, and got tested his hsv1 and 2 have came back negative.

I was not comfortable with the dr so i went to see another one, he prescribed me famvir and told me to come back in 6 weeks for testing for herpes, though he saw nothing he could culture or anything indicative of herpes. The famvir relieved my symptoms though every time i go off it i get about 5 days of relief before symptoms start to come back. I also have had general (and painful) adenopathy since early feb. but dr dismissed it as no big deal.
