Testing can miss 1 in 10 infections. That isn't too many. If all you are having is red dots then I'd suggest this isn't herpes.
I see no reason for you to take medication whether you do or do not have oral HSV1 unless you are experiencing severe symptoms.

Just to let you know, as a general fact you can get oral herpes from giving oral sex to someone with genital herpes, especially if the individual has type 1 genital herpes. However, if both of you have genital herpes then you already have antibodies for the virus. This means that as long as you perform oral sex when you partner is not having an outbreak you are not likely to become infected orally.
Also my doctor prescribed famvir but I don't have genital herpes. Can Famvir help with penis pain?
I was infected with oral HSV1 March 2010 and I suffered extreme & continuous symptoms. Since the beginning of this year the podrome seemed less intense but still frequent on my lips, cheeks, chin & tongue and respond well to wiping with hand wipes containing benzalkonium chloride & applications of ice, alcohol & aloe vera. I have been so careful to always wash my hands if touching my face or mouth & NEVER touching my eyes.
I believe I have contracted genital HSV from receiving oral sex from a woman in jan of this year. 2 days later I experienced extreme pain in my penis, pain during urination and urinary urgency. I was tested for chlamydia, gonorrhea and bacterial infection, all neg. Also tested for HSV (igg/igm) negative. Igg came back hsv1 = 0.05 hsv2 = 0.13. Dr said he saw no sign of herpes type lesions.
Less than a month now I have been infected with hvs probably type 1 genital cuz I got from oral. Had the first OB a day later and yesterday I have noticed what looks like blister in skin around the head. I knew I would get other OB although I was hoping to be in the group of folks who only get it once. How is it possible to have it again so soon? I have type 1 hsv genital and oral. I had sex with a girl 2 weeks ago (wore a condom) and took 1000 mg of famvir that night after sex and the next 3 days. I don't think she is being honest with me about type 2. I have had 4-5 days of grueling lumbar and buttocks pain just a week after sex. I can't even stand straight. I now feel warm and I have a headache. Same stuff I had in my initial OB 5 years ago. I'm so scared. My legs feel weak and I am in shock.
Hello Terri. You have helped me in the past with questions of transmission of oral HSV especially to my young son... I test positive for HSV1 in blood testing. My problem is I am having monthly to twice monthly breakouts of hsv sores on the margin of my lip. I have taken 1000mg Valtrex daily for a few months now and I am still getting very frequent outbreaks. This is becoming mentally and physically taxing. Anxiety levels never get a chance to subside which creates a viscous cycle I am sure.
There are 3 antivirals (oral medication) generally prescribed for treating HSV. These are Valtrex/valacyclovir, Famvir/famciclovir, and acyclovir. They require a doctor's prescription.
There are also several topicals that you can get over the counter. Some of these are Abreva, Releev, and Dermoplast.
In addition some people use natural remedies such as honey, which has been found to have antiviral properties.
are you sure that they typed your infection or just that it was + for herpes and assumed to be hsv2 since it was below the waist? if you aren't sure, well worth trying to find out.
It doesn't matter how long you've been infected. We have studies showing that the virus sheds as much whether you've been infected 3 years or over 20 years.

That was 12 years ago, and we have gotten to a place where our outbreaks are pretty well controlled with Famvir. About 2 weeks ago I had oral sex with my wife, and 3 or 4 days before that I had felt an outbreak coming on and took some Famvir. The outbreak didn't develop to much of anything, and there were just some small non-visible scabs on my lip. In fact I had forgotten about the whole thing since there was not much of an outbreak.
if you had read our read before posting post on the forum, you would've seen that we don't look at pictures, regardless of the body part.
A sore throat and phlegm are not std symptoms - that's a common upper respiratory infection. nothing you've mentioned sounds like oral herpes and the provider who told you otherwise probably doesn't see many primary oral herpes infections :( did she even bother to do a culture to look for strep and/or herpes?
Did you tested for HHV 6 ??
It is know to cause neuropathic symtoms.

Do oral and genital herpes occur at the same time sometimes? Meaning if ive had oral herpes since i was a child, and what i suspect is my first outbreak of genital herpes, why are they occuring at the same time?
If i really am having genital herpes, is it possible that the first symptoms are occuring 11/12 weeks after exposure. Symptoms are discharge, itching, red blister.
I just wanted to know what are the symptoms of herpes if it occurs inside urethra of men or does it occur inside urethra, as i have been through chamdlya test which came out negative a urine culture which also came normal and a urethra swab for culture test which also came negative then the urologist treated me with rociphin 2g iv for 7 days but then after 7 months suddenly on my penis herpes simplex has occured which is now been treated with zovirax 10g ointment and famvir 250mg oral tablets.

How long does the virus last on clothing and what are the chances of it being transmitted to my genitals? We never kissed but we did kiss the day of his break out before he had any symptoms. Oral transmission is still possible?
