Avatar f tn I use genteal and the bottle seemed stopped up. I took the bottle tip off and found " muck" stuff growing in the bottle like in a bottle of water that's been setting out for several months. The tip had a long string like thing in it. I pulled it out and will go back to the pharmacy to tell them. It needs to be reported as contaminated. But can't seem to find email or a phone for Novartis pharmaceuticals. Any ideas. Check out your eye drops.

Avatar f tn If it was a canker sore, why did it react to the Famvir? Does Famvir still have an effect on canker sores then, as well as cold sores? Am I contagious? Was I ever contagious? And can I actually kiss my husband again? Thanks for any advice! Much appreciated.
Avatar m tn Did you tested for HHV 6 ?? It is know to cause neuropathic symtoms. Hope you feel better soon.
Avatar m tn I'm sorry to hear about your epilepsy. I've got it, too. I think Novartis makes Tegretol. I went to their website (http://www.novartis.com/) but couldn't find a patient monograph. According to http://www.merck.com/mmpe/lexicomp/carbamazepine.html, one of the "Adverse Reactions" is "Hepatic: Abnormal liver function tests, hepatic failure, hepatitis, jaundice".

Avatar f tn Thank you Steph for taking the trouble to look it up for me, I did try googling it but wasn't really getting anywhere.

Avatar n tn My doctor said its very unusual to have outbreaks all the time on medication. She has prescribed Famvir for me now. Can you tell me if this is normal?
Avatar f tn I had a h1n1 vaccination novartis -preservative free back in Nov 15th to be exact. I received hot sensations in arms shoulders neck from a preservative free vaccination. I have tingles, numness on extremities throught the night since 5 days after innoculation. During the day I have had it change from the hot sensations-alomost gone. To numbness in pinky finger, left foot for 2 weeks to right foot most recently for 2 weeks. Hope there will be an end soon to this madness.
Avatar f tn Hello Rott, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am glad that you found us and took the time to post. I am so very sorry to hear that this manufacturing error has affected you. It's always frightening when we have to change from a medication that we have become comfortable with and that works!! I have been searching for the exact facts on the recall. It appears that the primary concern is that the non-narcotic medications (listed below) may contain the narcotic.
Avatar m tn In the following years (2007-2009) i have only had 3-4 outbreaks. when i get an outbreak i use famvir, 2 tablets at first then 1 every 12 hours for 3 doses. these always worked quickly and the outbreaks were never severe and didn't last longer than a week or so start to finish. In the last 2 weeks (jan 2010) i had a small outbreak that i immediately took my usual dose of famvir for and it cleared up, almost totally within 5-7 days.
572651 tn?1530999357 I was researching something on the web and stumbled upon this one - it seem that Novartis has its work cut out to get Gilenya approved by the NHS. http://www.marketwatch.
Avatar f tn I hope someone can help. I've had horrible recurring pain in my right eye for over a year. Went to Optho. multiple times and was told it was an infected oil gland. I was put on low dose antibiotics for over 6 months and told to apply warm compresses and scrub eye with a baby shampoo/water solution. I developed a rash on my buttocks months into this that my GP diagnosed as shingles and prescribed Famvir.
Avatar m tn have been now 5 months outbreak free (leading a really healthy lifestyle). My doctor prescribed me for my outbreaks famvir, 125 mg twice a day during 5 days. I have a girlfriend and we have talked about this and both of us would like to make sex without condoms. We have sex each 2/3 weeks. I wouldnt like to take suppresive therapy daily, if we are having sex each 2 / 3 weeks (wich is very little). Taking this in mind what would be considered an effective suppresive therapy?
Avatar m tn It should've been 2 500mg famvir tablets to take 2x/day for 1 day. Is that what you were given or just 1 500mg pill?
Avatar n tn d like for us to be able to have oral sex, but not if it will further spread the virus. We are both taking Famvir daily and almost never have outbreaks. I also know that it is possible to spread the virus without an outbreak. Please don't suggest condoms or dental dams - I'd rather just skip it altogether. Also, I know that prophylactics often don't protect against spreading the virus.
Avatar f tn i doubt you have developed a tolerance for famvir. I believe cortisone can affect the immune system, and it's very probable that it's causing an ob. The sores in your mouth may be cankers, which are related to stress and immune system overload. Talk to your doc and see if you can get off that cortisone!
Avatar n tn i know that valtrex and famvir are different family of anti-viral's. has anyone had poor results with valtrex and had to change to famvir? i don't seem to be responding to valtrex or acyclovir so i might change.
