Fainting while giving blood sample

Common Questions and Answers about Fainting while giving blood sample

fainting

Avatar n tn You absolutely need to see your doctor to find out what is going on because, yes, there are health conditions that can cause your symptoms that require treatment. Your doctor will likely ask you questions, give you a physical exam (this will including taking your BP, pulse, etc) and take a blood sample. Depending on the results of these tests, you "may" be referred to a cardiologist.
6708370 tn?1471490210 Nor would it be practical to run the actual virus test every time a blood sample shows the antibody. Although about 15% of people have systems that will kill off HIV, and about 20% the same for Hep C, MOST who have the antibody actually have the virus itself. If they spent the time and money to follow all positive antibody tests up with tests for the actual virus concerned, no more than 20% of the blood would turn ourt to be safe.
2086477 tn?1332611994 Some say that I get up very fast and my blood has not enough time to travel to my brain (why dont I pass out while I am on my way to the toilet then?) others say that while urinating first thing in the morning the water ballance in the body dropps (I can not understand the issue.. Does someone have the same? Does anyone knows what to do (not to do?) I have to mention that I have MS, which is a neuroligical condition.. Guess it can contribute as well.. and I am 31. Thank you in advance !
Avatar f tn I had horrible timing with my fainting spells last pregnancy. I was always really sick with morning sickness and once I passed out while on the stairs and fell down half of them. Woke up at the bottom of the stairs so confused. It's an unfortunate thing but also a bit normal. The amount of blood in your body is increasing and that is usually what causes it. If it happens a lot you should definitely go in and get some blood work done.
Avatar m tn so while i was on my way home..the bandage where the blood sample was taken(right arm) fell off because it was hot and i was sweating...so area where they got the blood sample was exposed wihout me knowing it...i know its a small area where they inserted the needle....it was exposed to the world without the bandage... do u think its a risk for hiv knowing that after getting the blood sample from my arm the bandage fell off without me realizing it? do i need to get RETESTED again??
Avatar m tn But after the results one thing struck me, that, while I was giving my blood sample for test, the pathologist (from a reputed health center) took a needle from a container where around 8-10 needles and blood sampling bottles were kept. He took one of those needles and performed venipuncture. Now, I fear that what if the needle was not new and he took my blood sample using that needle? Because the needles were already out of the packet and were kept in that container. What to do? P.S.
Avatar f tn Now about 4 days ago I started peeing blood lots of it. On sunday the 23rd I was sitting on my couch an woke up on my floor must have fainted. Last night I went to the er they checked baby an made sure I wasn't in pre term labor. Im not in labor so they did kidney ultrasound to see if I have a stone. At that point I had crampin so bad in my lower abdomen an around to my lower back. Pretty much my urine sample came back good an the ultrasound showed that I may have possibly had a stone.
Avatar n tn It started out that I was throwing up blood, but went to hospital and they checked my blood and stool sample and sent home saying they couldn't find anything. I haven't thrown up blood lately, but get sick everytime I eat or drink anything.

1923882 tn?1352250106 Lightheadedness and fainting can be common during pregnancy. Sometimes it is due to low blood sugar, and sometimes it is caused by moving to fast or standing up too quickly. If it happens alot then you may want to go get checked.
10777943 tn?1412955415 I'm the same, I get terrible fainting spells during pregnancy. I know its not low blood pressure because I've had preeclamplsia through both pregnancies but interestingly my iron levels have been really low particularly this pregnancy. I had an iron infusion last week and haven't fainted since. Maybe get your iron checked?

Avatar f tn Hi there. Frank and fresh blood after pooping is suggestive of some form of local trauma, either a bleeding fissure in ano, a hemmorhoid or pile or a fistula. Sometimes hard and constipated stools which come after much exertion can tear the anal mucosa. Try to take high fiber diet with plenty of oral fluids so constipation is avoided and there is no trigger to mucosal injury. Fiber rich foods include fruits, vegetables, green leafy, beans, whole wheat breads and pasta etc.
Avatar n tn I don't know if I am in the right place for this or not, but I have been fainting since I was 13 (now 30). It used to happen for no apparent reason (not from stress) & I went through many tests (EEG, EKG, etc) before they did the tilt-table test & figured out it was when adreneline was released into my system that heart rate went up/blood pressure down. I was on nadalol (sp)?
203342 tn?1328737207 In some people, fainting can occur without a serious underlying disease like at the time of death of a near one (a moment of sudden and intense grief), on seeing vomitus or on seeing blood (while visiting a hospital). In a good no. of people, fainting is due to some underlying problem that is mainly a cardiovascular problem or a neurological one. In old age, one of the commonest causes of fainting is “sick sinus syndrome”.
Avatar m tn Hi there, My wife and I have been trying for a pregnancy for well over a year and we met with a doctor at our local fertility clinic earlier this week. She (our doctor) has told me to give a semen sample for analysis at the lab. I'm extremely anxious about providing this sample for analysis and my appointment is tomorrow morning. When we were at the clinic they let us see a "Wank Room" (a mere cubicle, almost like a WC stall), which has only further increased my anxiety!
705807 tn?1300751246 I had a fainting episode while driving ( was able to pull over) but hospital feared blood clot. Anyway I faught for hours with dh and my mom but ultimately was forced into getting the scan. it came back neg. I am so scared about effects of dye and radiation on my son. They all said it's ok but I dont believe them. I screwed up and regret the whole thing and now it's too late. Has anyone had this done and were your kids ok?? Please respond.
Avatar f tn Another thing which may be important is that when I was in hospital my urine and blood was tested and I was found to have high glucose in both so it looks like I may have type 2 diabetes. So yes, quite a lot of information there. I still feel dreadful and have zero energy to do anything and haven't left the house in 5 weeks besides the hospital and GP's office. What do you think is going on? I really need to start feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn Is anyone else having problems feeling really dizzy or fainting? I passed out last week in the middle of cosco and almost again in Wal-Mart anyone else having or had this problem??
Avatar n tn There is a mechanism called the valsalva maneuver that lowers heart rate when downward pressure is applied as in taking a bowel movement that could potentially decrease blood flow to the brain long enough to cause fainting. However, I would certainly take my husband to the doctor for a full work-up.
Avatar n tn s working. Xray shows nothing, ultrasound shows nothing, blood test shows nothing, stool sample shows nothing. Any help? Please???
Avatar n tn So long story short, the other day I was outside with my boyfriend and his father, not for long, maybe 45 minutes but all of a sudden I got really dizzy and couldn't see anything and passed out. Luckily, I was standing right next to his Dad and he caught me so I didn't fall or anything. I called the doctor and he said that it must've been the heat, or could be my blood pressure. He didn't seem too worried which put my mind at ease.
