Avatar m tn it could be that the jerky movements are myoclonus and the fact that they only happen when you move would mean that its action myoclonus. myoclonus is usually is a medical sign of an underlying cause but sometimes it can happen without a cause. i would suggest that you go see a neurologist because you say you also have mental changes. if you would like to read a bit more on myoclonus you could go to the we move website and click the myoclonus link. hope you get some answers soon.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I have been having problems with my vision for around 8 months now and I can't seem to find anyone who can offer an explanation. I have been to around 8 doctors including eye and brain specialists and been told I have migraines but it's been constant for 8 months! I have "jerky" vision which is difficult to explain. When I sit still and focus, my eyesight is fine but whenever I move or I am driving my eyes seem to take too long to focus properly.

Avatar f tn This has been going on for 19 months now. He has the jerky movements . Sometimes he gets jerky and has what looks like tremors mostly on his right side that can last for up to 2 hours. This will happen at any time. What makes me think it is Sydenham's Chorea is he did have strep. This is how it started>>> May of 2007 my son complained of a sore throat and a head ache. Less than 2 hours after he woke up that morning his fever shot up and couldn’t move his legs.

Avatar n tn Have any of you ladies experienced movements that hurt ? Like not necessarily on your ribs just random baby movements. I'm about 34 weeks 1 day.
Avatar m tn You need to try and locate a strabismus-(pediatric) ophthalmologist. They do eye muscle surgery. Sometimes the amplitude of the jerky movements can be reduced with eye surgery.
Avatar f tn I am pregnant with my second child. I'm 25w4d and I'm having odd sensations with this baby's movements. Sometimes when this baby moves I get a quivering sensation (quick small jerky movements) as though it were coming from the baby. It doesn't happen everytime but it's happened enough for me to take notice. I'm concerned because I don't remember the sensation from my first pregnancy. Has anyone felt this? Is this normal?
Avatar f tn I guess i just worry because at times it very jerky, twitchy movements not like his regular kicks, flips and punches and hiccups. But thank you I will try not to worry, Ive just been anxious about everything with this pregnancy because it has been a rough one with lots of complications.

Avatar f tn Yep, makes baby more comfortable bc it feels womb like and besides that they make a lot of sudden jerky movements with their arms after birth bc they aren't used to the extra room and will startle themselves awake.
Avatar f tn It's def different from hiccups- they usually last for a couple of minutes and have a rhythm to them. What I'm experiencing is more like twitching really fast for a couple of seconds, such a strange feeling! Maybe it is the baby.. I just didn't think he/she would be able to make sudden jerky movements like that, that's why I thought it might be my uterus. Who knows, I'm not too worried about it. I will get to meet him/her next Thursday, yay!!
384896 tn?1335294331 And the jerky, seizure-like movements are very common. Baby is not seizing in the womb. Someone explained the movements to me but of course I forgot. So ask your OB!
Avatar f tn Motor tics typically consist of sudden, abrupt, transitory, often repetitive, and coordinated movements that may resemble gestures and mimic fragments of normal behavior, vary in intensity, and repeated at irregular intervals. The movements are most often brief and jerky however, slower, more prolonged movements also occur.” There are many, many causes of Tics, these most familiar to Neurologists.

Avatar f tn I'm not too sure about the rapid eye movements. When you say "nods his head up and down" is it like jerky movements? If it is, then he most probably has a movement disorder called myoclonus which can be caused by a variety of things but sometimes it can just be benign.
Avatar f tn Have you developed uncontrollable twitching and jerking movements from any Rx drugs? Rapid onset during introduction, is called acute dyskinesia. If you develop it after chronic use, it's called Tardive dyskinesia. There is also a type called Drug Emergent Syndrome, from sudden withdrawal from a drug. I don't know why I was so sensitive to an Rx drug, that is used for many conditions, including nerve pain, which I had in my lower back.
