Common Questions and Answers about Fainting during a panic attack

fainting

Avatar n tn You might think or feel like you are going to faint from a panic attack, but your blood pressure tends to go through the roof during a panic attack - preventing you from fainting. You should have a thorough check-up to rule out potential heart and hormone issues.
Avatar m tn Now my vision is better but I feel shakey and I my head hurts a little and I need to lay down. Does this sound like a panic attack? Thanks for any help.
Avatar m tn It is difficult to speculate what the underlying cause for your fainting eposides without further information but just to rule out a condition with just an ekg is not adequate. Unless you had a fainting episode while taking the ekg that may have been of some help. You should have medical exam to rule out any serious condtions. 1211508 tn?1343079605 Hello, It sounds to me what you described was a full blown panic attack. It is very possible to pass out while hyperventilating, and the nausea, sweating, flushing are all signs of anxiety/panic. I too suffer from panic attacks. I am 37 and I get sooo dizzy when I get behind the wheel I know I'm going to pass out. I also struggle in social situations that I can't get out of quickly ei. funeral homes, movie theaters, malls, etc. I do have PAC's and tachycardia as well.
1223598 tn?1289968459 thanks for the concern. I posted this awhile ago. This whole thing is still unresolved. I went in for a bunch of tests. Had the heart monitor on, for a 24 hour period where i was to try and induce the symptoms. I only suceeded in rising my pulse to extremes. The results came back perfectly fine. Nothing wrong with my heart beats at all. Today I got the results. My doctor told me it could be panic attacks. Do I beleive this?
1324650 tn?1274753888 What you describe sounds like a classic panic attack (minus the actual fainting)....especially in those kind of "crowd" situations...or situations where you have idle time to "wait". Those two scenarios are actually the worst for me as far as predisposing me to panic. Best of luck and please let us know how its going!!!
Avatar f tn It does sound like a panic attack. I've had many of them and always get the headache and nausea during and after one. Fainting is kind of rare but it can happen. Were you having problems breathing when you were arguing and then passed out? I would really recommend seeing your Dr though just to rule any other problems out. Your blood pressure may have gotten very high after you woke up, jumped out of bed and started arguing. Let us know what your Dr says and try to keep calm, okay. Remar.
Avatar f tn I have also recently been seen in the ER after a fainting episode that lasted longer than usual, and wore a TruVue heart monitor for a month. The only things identified by these doctors are: sinus tachycardia and high cortisol level.
Avatar f tn Hi, I was looking for information on the symptoms i'm having. I was reading your panel from back in 2006. I didn't know so many people were expericing the same thing as I. I have diaherra, vomiting, chills, shaking, and I faint. I feel so weak and drained when the episode comes. Sometime I feel like fainting and I don't, but most times I alway faint. I went into cardic arrest during one of my episodes. The doctors can't figure out any thing.
Avatar m tn (Having a heart attack, Cardiac Arrest, etc) I have no family history of Heart Attacks, or any heart issues. I do however have a family history of anxiety and panic attack issues. My mom has them, My sisters, and myself. None of this really started until I started distancing myself from my friends and spending more time in my room and on the computer. I don't smoke, I don't drink, nor do I do any drugs. I am just afraid of what is going on with me.
1448936 tn?1363206346 m quite sure it was just a panic attack. Man, I miss when panic attacks where only the feeling of fainting or vomiting.
Avatar n tn I was succssfully off the AD for a year and a half then I had a fainting episode during a dinner date. That triggered all my anxiety, couldn't funcrion, so I got back on the Lezapro. I fainted again this past Wednesday and my anxiety is back, even though I am on the Lexapro.
Avatar n tn My first panic attacks started because I started fainting as a child of 4. Gradually, I grew afraid of fainting and had panic attacks about the fear of fainting. Now, that fear is basically gone, but unfortunately the panic attacks are not. Just now when I have panic attacks, I am pretty certain I won't pass out.
Avatar f tn I want to do some cogitative behavioral therapy today by going to the store and dealing with my anxiety. I get so scared leaving the house in fear of a panic attack or fainting at the store. I know it's my brain causing these symptoms but need a little shove to get me out of the door today. I trying to think of a store that I used to enjoy going to and nothing is motivating me to leave the couch. I hate feeling like this...
Avatar m tn But when I saw that it was a heart attack symptom my heart sank and I had a panic attack and felt like I was going to die. After I calmed myself down and walked home and told my mum about it. She said that i should I should wait a few days until I go to the doctor. During these days I developed very very minor chest pains, that was when I knew I needed to see a doctor. The doctor did a ECG and a blood test on me the next day and all was fine. this helped me relax.
Avatar n tn This sounds like a bit more than just a panic attack, although the things that bring it on go along with anxiety. I have never heard of anyone actually fainting from a panic attack. When you refer to "carrying a bottle around" are you referring to medication for anxiety? You need to see a psychiatrist for an evaluation and go from there. Anxiety and panic attacks can be controlled with medication and often therapy helps. Hope this helps and best wishes.
Avatar f tn potentially stress can give a headache. A person can feel nauseated with a panic attack as well. But usually, a person can still move with a panic attack, although they might hyperventilate to point of fainting. If all medical causes are ruled out, you might check with a doctor about a mild tranquilizer for panic attacks, to see if it's right for her. An over the counter natural tranquilizer is valerian root, generally used as a sleep aid.
Avatar f tn I have anxiety but lately I have noticed I will get a little panic attack but I will go eat because I feel really lightheaded and then I feel better does anyone else expirence this?
266195 tn?1215310411 s just someone told me that it was not normal to have a heartrate that high during a panic attack, but i've heard of people having them that hight before, i was just gonna check and see what everyone here thought thanks, doug
Avatar f tn ve never heard of anyone fainting from panic attacks, nor have I fainted as a result of one. But there are very traumatic things that may make one faint ie; the sight of blood, hearing a loved one has died, etc. Fainting is the body's way of protecting us, when it senses that what we are seeing or hearing is too much to handle, it sort of "shuts down" regroups and we wake up feeling fine. That's the only way I know how to explian it.
Avatar f tn ( I feel like a hypochondriac sometimes.
1448936 tn?1363206346 I'm having a panic attack I think. I feel like I have a ton of bricks on my chest and I'm having trouble breathing and catching my breath and I'm dizzy and kind of nauseous. Avatar m tn hi im 14 years old and i just had a panic attack yesterday during school is it good if i drink ginger with honey and also lemon?
Avatar m tn Walk or do any type of exercise to burn off the excess adrenaline. Panic attacks aren't going to hurt you...just scare the heck out of you. So try to remain as calm as possible by doing something to distract your mind. Do some deep breathing exercises....breathe slowly in thru your nose and slowly out of your mouth. We tend to breathe in a shallow way during panic and this will make you light headed, so be aware of your breathing. I hope this helps and you're feeling better.
Avatar n tn s office while I was having the attack. The ekg picked up SVTs. But it had to be caught during the attack.
401584 tn?1224991022 So well done for at least been able to calm yourself down enough during the panic attack to be able to make a post. Shows what you can do if you put your mind to it.
Avatar n tn Not as far as I know. You may however have a cause for passing out ( either vasovagal or otherwise) and at the same time have anxiety about the process, and this is almost expected! If you are having symptoms when your heart is beating slowly then this is one thing, but if were not then you are probably simply anxious about what hapened and over-sensitive to your heart rate.
