rash

Avatar n tn My child broke out in a red rash on his face - tested negative for strep - no sign of illness. The red went away and the skin is now very, very dry. The same has happened to my face. What could it be? It is not itchy, it was initially alittle warm.
Avatar n tn My 3 year old got a rash on her face, neck, and upper chest and back. It was light colored but splochy red. There were a lot of tiny bumps - the doctor described them as "sandpaper-y". We gave her benadryl and it didn't do anything for her. we took her to the emergency room where they did a cbc and strep test. (Keeping in mind that my kids are not in school / daycare. I stay at home with them every day, and nobody in the house has been sick.
Avatar f tn This time they did rapid strep test and negative. If it is mono does it have to have a positive strep test? Thanks again. Ill talk to my gp mon.
Avatar n tn The problem is he has a rash on his face. He has a probelm with dermititis sometimes but this is really bad. Can this be connected to his fever and not being well ?
202436 tn?1326474333 Well it's good that the bumps could be explained by the strep...I didn't know they could get a rash like that with it. Elijah's never had strep so I have nothing to compare stories with on that one. Hopefully the splotches are the same, and start going away.
1742112 tn?1311647221 placed on prednisone for 7 days rash gone. The rash is present on face, neck, back, abdomen partially on his buttocks and groin(not as bad), and down his legs and inner thighs. His lower arms and legs do not have the rash. it is red and sandpaper like. His face is the same with very dry areas and his eyes are red and swollen. we do swim in a pond,(noone else gets a rash in the family) but considering his legs do not have the rash and his arms I am not sure what to think.
Avatar n tn On the morning of the fourth day she began to experience a hive like rash on her legs and arms. The next morning her her face swelled up. She has no temperature, but has minor discomfort in swallowing, and slight nausa. She also has minor muscle and joint pain. By the sixth day (which is today) symptoms persist but appear stable.
995985 tn?1250046379 I work with young children, and have seen this many times. Some children do get a rash from Strep. I know you are frustrated with the doctor, but the cultures do not lie. I would go ahead and treat him with the entire course of antibiotics.
Avatar f tn hey everyone ! I've been getting an itchy rash that comes and goes all over my body, one rash left a circleish figure it looked like a mosquito bite.. I've also had kind of a sore throat and abit of abdominal pain. Im not sure what this is but its bothering me a lot.. i also use face cream that has benzoyl peroxide in it but its not just pure benzoyl peroxide.. my friend got bleach into her blood stream because of a doctor recommending just pure benzoyl peroxide..
193609 tn?1292180293 Hardly anything calmed him down and it was horrible. Around 4pm, his face broke out in a rash. It was not an immediate cause for alarm because when Ashtyn gets upset, his face gets blotchy. We headed home to Columbus. When we got home around 11:30, Ashtyn was covered in a rash from his head to his hips. He was covered in red spots. So, we took him to the ER at the Children's Hospital. The doctor took one look at him and said he is reacting to the Amoxicillin.
1906461 tn?1321846373 They did take a throat culture and it came back negative for strep. He has had moderate dry skin, especially on his face, ever since the rash started. He had the rash 5 days before his appointment and he still has it. It does not seem to be getting better. Actually, in some spots it seems a little worse. Behind his knees and on his cheeks are the worst. Does anyone have any ideas what could be going on with him??
Avatar n tn Here is what I have found on the web. Hope it helps. ~~~~~~~~~ Early symptoms are similar to the flu-runny nose, sore throat, headache-and may be so mild that you don't notice them. The rash comes several days later, first on the face and later over the rest of the body. The rash usually fades within 5 days.
Avatar n tn The final diagnoses was they thought the antibiotics caused lower gi bleeding and a yiest rash on my face. They prescribed me a cream to put on my rash. After two weeks on the cream the rash started going down and one totally has gone away but the other is still slightly there. I stopped having bleeding although my anus is still irritated. As well as my swollen node has gone down a lot it's still there but it was huge before its a lot smaller. I also have circular rashes under my chin.
Avatar m tn t until later that the scarlet fever rash showed up. The strep infection was in my blood stream. Once I took the course of antibiotics it was gone. So I'm not sure that something like a throat swab is going to indicate that the infection is indeed eradicated. Maybe have to ask for some blood work to be done.
Avatar n tn I took her to urgent care where it was determined that it was a strep rash. They also swabbed for strep and the test came out positive. Now my son has had the same thing happen: ear infection and then rash. Does this truly sound like a strep rash, or could this be a reaction to the Amoxicilin?
537497 tn?1292553056 My daughter had strep 3 times this winter- strep rash with it EVERY time. Usually went away within a week of being on antiboitics. I hope that they put him on antibiotics since it came back slightly positive because as her ped. said, positive is positive not matter how dark of pink. (Kinda like a pregnancy test- your ine can be faint or bright and either way, you are preggo!!!) LOL! Good luck!
Avatar n tn I have had it for 2 weeks now, I got strep throat but I had the rash before I got the sore throat. The doctor says its viral rash could last 4-6 weeks just curious if anyone has had this too??
Avatar f tn I started getting this rash when I was fifteen, back then it just started out around the side of one of my breasts. It was just a small spot or two but it never really went away. I've noticed over the years that the rash would multiply. I'm twenty three now and the "rash" has spread: it's on my chest, my shoulders, the back of my shoulders, my neck and is slowly starting to climb to my face. Like I said, it's not itchy or painful.
Avatar f tn Took him Saturday to the minute clinic at cvs for a rash. They tested him for strep which came back negative. They said they were going to send it to the lab just in case. Well tonight they call and said it came back positive. He got the rash Thursday. He has had no other symptoms, only the rash. Of course the pharmacy closed right as they were calling so I can't get his prescription till tomorrow morning. My question is should I call my ob and tell them? I definitely have been exposed.
Avatar f tn ^^i agree...
Avatar f tn My little sister was sleeping and woke up with a rash all over her back, shoulders, arms, and neck. She said she felt hot and that her back was wet when she woke up. What is it? Is this dangerous? What do you recommend we use?

Avatar f tn Well, has she had a strep test? The rash could be scarlet fever from the strep infection. I had a strep infection without a sore throat, but with scarlet fever, and every joint in my body was involved. I could barely walk. I had no idea strep could cause these symptoms. You can also have a negative rapid strep test. What you really need is a culture and a blood draw to make sure. I got the run around for quite a while.
Avatar n tn Hi again, After thinking again about what you said. Scarlet fever rash comes within 4 days of getting strep throat. SO, I think it is a allergy to the antibiotic.Anaphylactic rash and other serious allergy comes right awaywithin hours. A lot of rashes take time to develop and you immune system has to kick in an make antibodies against it. You can develop a rash in 2 -6 weeks after taking antibiotics. This is not a sign of an immune problem it is natural for it to take a while.
Avatar f tn He identical sister had no rash. Later some of the rash in face lookedlike tiny little blisters. Gave her more Benedryl this morning. No change. Nothing looks blisty now (15hrs after onset) just red bumps on face and fine covering of red dots on her back, next and some arms. She has had all of her immunization shots. My kids had off and on fevers earlier in the week. 2 nights ago she was 102.7 gave her children's ibuprofen and she had been fine since. What could bring on such a sudden rash?
