Common Questions and Answers about Ezetimibe intermediates

Avatar m tn Treatment with Flavocoxid or ETV or with drugs combination started 3 hours after transfection and was renewed every other day for 5 days. Total HBV replicative intermediates, viral transcripts and cccDNA levels were evaluated in untreated and treated HepG2 cells by quantitative real-time PCR, Southern and Northern blots experiments. To analyse the epigenetic modulation of HBV cccDNA the cccDNA-ChIP assay was applied to untreated and treated cells.
Avatar m tn also statins like simvastatin were reported to boost response a little but better not mix 2 statins, in a report researchers of ezetimibe effect on hbv and hcv suggested the use of ezetimibe with interferon but without simvastin ezetimibe dose is 10-20mg daily but human trials with dose 50mg daily for a limited time did not find any sides or toxicity
Avatar m tn The FDA-approved drug ezetimibe (sold under the trade-name Zetia) is readily available and perfectly targeted to the receptor, Sainz said, so the researchers had an ideal method for testing NPC1L1's involvement in HCV infection. The researchers showed that ezetimibe inhibited HCV infection in cell culture and in mice transplanted with human liver cells. And, unlike any currently available drugs, ezetimibe was able to inhibit infection by all six types of HCV.
Avatar n tn You could consider going for a higher dose of Lipitor, another way to go is to consider taking a drug that limits cholesterol absorption such as Ezetimibe. There is a combination drug Simvastatin and ezetimibe that may be better in controlling cholesterol. Discuss these drugs with your doctor. Best of luck to you. Stay positive.
Avatar m tn A recent paper studied the effect of most FDA approved drugs on the inhibition of NTCP, the now known entry receptor for HBV. Ezetimibe was found to have a 50%inhibition conc of 25micromolar, while irbesartan, a commonly used angiotensin inhibitor to reduce blood pressure, was found to inhibit at 11.9 micromolar. Both compounds have similar MW, but irbesartan is given at up to 300mg per day, while exetimibe is dosed at 10mg.
Avatar m tn no study for its activity on hbv, we do know it has activity but the trial has never started simvastatin lowers hcc 50% and prevents fibrosis/cirrhosis so it is indicated on all hbver, this has thousands of pateints studied for decades to find this data on hcc you better use simvastatin instead other statins, also ezetimibe has in vitro effect on hbv so these are the best choices on hbvers
Avatar n tn s ability to readily detoxify the reactive intermediates or easily repair the resulting damage. Disturbance in this normal redox state can cause toxic effects through the production of peroxides and free radicals that damage all components of cells, including protiens, lipids and DNA. Uric Acid is increased by diet of high fructose intake (corn syrup) and purines found in high amounts or animal food products. Check your diets, my husband drank alot of Mountain Dew and likes to hunt.
1260255 tn?1288654564 s ability to make energy is reduced or stopped, and metabolic intermediates and toxic by-products begin to build up. The energy shortage in the tissues is the major cause of muscle weakness, fatigue and problems in the heart, kidneys, eyes and endocrine system. The buildup Of toxic intermediates can be responsible for liver problems, muscle cramps, brain dysfunction or even greater mitochondrial damage. Many times these two types of problems reinforce one another, each making the other worse.
Avatar m tn There was an in vitro study on ezetimibe inhibiting HBV DNA production. The ed50 was fairly low and in a similar range as lamuvidine. So it looked very interesting. But in an in vitro study you have a constant exposure to the drug, which is impossible to achieve in vivo. And the cells used are not the same as regular hepatocytes in human liver, with many differences in gene expression and cellular physiology.
1006041 tn?1250396768 I was given an additional medicine which dramatically decreases the absorbtion of fats through the digestive tract. This is called Ezetimibe and just 10mg reduced my cholesterol a great deal. Maybe your GP could look to attacking your problem from this angle?
Tbd About two years ago my doctor added ezetimibe to my regimen. It has been lowering my bad cholesterol how ever the first of this month I missed taking them for about a week and for the first time in years I felt less fatigued. I do have Fibromyalgia which is usually the cause of my fatigue, but this is a different type of fatigue. I have not restarted either of the cholesterol meds back because I have felt so much better. I know I need to talk to my doctor about it.
Avatar n tn Thanks JB. to mike1105: thanks. You say it's a bit tricky to get the "intermediates" right. Since posting I located an old friend out of town(who is a D.D. but no longer practicing) and he told me over the phone several things: 1) he never heard of "intermediates" for the type of denture replacement I described. I had a functioning set of dentures which were there to be used for control prior to the surgery - they were not.
Avatar m tn It is probable that these cells could support viral replication because hepatitis B virus DNA replicative intermediates, viral transcripts and HBsAg and HBcAg proteins were detected in most. These findings may be relevant to the initiation of extrahepatic syndromes associated with chronic hepatitis B virus infection such as vasculitis, glomerulonephropathy, neuropathy and dermatitis.
Avatar m tn Similarly, extensive analyses of intrahepatic woodchuck hepatitis virus (WHV) and duck hepatitis B virus (DHBV) DNA intermediates under nucleoside analog therapy clearly demonstrated that cccDNA become the predominant form of viral DNA replication intermediates upon long-term suppression of viral DNA replication40 and 41. These findings strongly suggest that cccDNA is the most stable HBV replication intermediate and elimination of cccDNA is the key to cure HBV infection.
Avatar n tn I had very high cholesterol, due to familial hypercholesterolemia, and living on just salad for weeks did nothing for the levels. Statins have worked wonders in bringing the levels down but I also take Ezetimibe which slows absorption of fats through the gut lining. Now I can basically eat what I want and my cholesterol levels are always within the range required. Cholesterol in the blood is not the cause of disease, it's like a side effect from the initial problem.
529224 tn?1400648219 Statins reduced the cholesterol significantly and with the added medication of Ezetimibe, which slows fat absorption through the gut wall, my cholesterol is way below average now. I've been on these medications since the start of 2007 with no side effects which blood tests have continually confirmed. Familial hypercholesterolemia affects 1 in 500 people in many countries, so it isn't that uncommon.
Avatar m tn Alan McLachlan at the University of Illinois-Chicago, dramatic reductions in viral transcripts, viral replicative DNA intermediates, and intracellular HBV core antigen were observed in the liver after two weekly doses.
