Avatar m tn my dogs left eye looks like something may have poked it...the white part of her eye is very red. she cant open it all the way due to what looks like some swelling. there is also some kind of dis-charge comming out of the corner of her eye she does not seem to be in pain...should we take her to the vet now...
Avatar f tn Im 23, and for the past 9 months i have experienced random eye swelling, in both eyes, whether it happens one at a time or both at once. Usually during the night when im sleeping my eyes feel itchy then begin to swell instantly... The swelling can last up to 48 hours and i have tried all the steroidal eye drops and anti-histamines,.. I have only found ice packs to really help reduce the swelling more rapidly, I can be wahing my face and out of nowhere i look up and BAM!
Avatar n tn It is possible that there is something living in the straw and liking to be close to the body heat of your dogs. It's cold here too (Utah) and I've seen spiders in my unheated garage area. Might be worth checking out.
765802 tn?1263300851 The average heat cycle lasts 21 days, but some of them don't go quite as long and some of them go a little longer. The key is to watch the swelling of the vulva. Don't relax and think it's OK to let her get around male dogs until all of that swelling is gone, because as long as she's even a little swollen, there's a chance she'll allow them to breed her.
787406 tn?1339203183 swelling of the eye or eye lid should be seen by a veterinarian and not treated at home with human medication! dogs vocalizing like this usually means they want something. at 9 months I'm going to guess it means she wants direction, leadership and play / relationship from you. A trained, tired dog is a happy quiet dog. Obedience, walking, games, exercises and discipline is what this dogs needs. That comes from you with help of a good trainer.
Avatar n tn A friend of mine has two dogs that were in a kennel and we were outside checking on them and noticed that they must have had a "moment." We cleaned them both up and from the looks of it they got eachother kinda good. My concern is an eye injury that one of them has...It was fine the day we check on him but it seems to be swelling a lot underneath the eye pushing the lower part under his eye ball out some..Is this mostly a vet thing or is there anything we can do????
Avatar f tn At first I thought I just irritated them but I looked in the mirror and the right corner of my right eye seems deflated/loose. when I look to the side, the skin kinda moves a little and makes my vision weird and uncomfortable. The lower part of my eye is a bit rid from me rubbing it. I looked it up right away and it seems like redundant conjunctiva but they say people a lot older than me get it. I'm just 19. If it is will it go away on its own??
Avatar n tn 30 in the afternoon. because she was eating and the swelling had gone down. he told me to keep an eye on her. well she is doing great. she wants to run and play like she did before her injury. I try to protect her head. so she don't reinjure it. she has no contact with the other animals. 4 days have passed and she is more active. sence day 1 alittle bump on her head appears and goes away, it is the size of a dime and looks and feels like water. she gets it anytime.
1627010 tn?1299446388 She gave her an antibiotic eye drop. It took several weeks for it to heal. I guess in the process it damaged the dry eye even more. I'll just keep on trying and not give up. I love her to much to quit. Thank you for your comment.
1237385 tn?1268008074 s what you are talking about, then the dog needs to be taken to the vet, right away. Does it look different in one eye than it does in the other? When you say "some skin," it's kind of hard to picture it.
Avatar n tn I had a similar situation with my Jack Russell. She is almost blind in one eye. She was outside...we lived in the country...and she got struck in the eye by a venomous snake...it was a scratch on the cornea that was not noticeable to me...but she had this drooping skin under her chin that went all the way to the ground...it was the most hideous thing I had ever seen...never seen anything like that before. Anyway, I rushed her to the vet and she was treated...the skin went back to normal...

11591819 tn?1419664949 A pellet was under the film of his left eye. I took him to an eye doctor for animals and they evaluated him and wanted to remove the eye but said it would just be cloudy if i decided not to remove it. I decided not to and it turned a almost solid gray and remained normal size. About a week ago his eye began to swell and turned a blood shot red. It is now probably the size of a golf ball. Im taking him to the vet on monday.
Avatar n tn Swelling is a sign that there is absolutely something wrong and most swelling is accompanied by some degree of pain, so in light of this, I would get her to an emergency vet this afternoon so that she doesn't have to be in a lot of discomfort until your regular vet opens in the morning. Dogs and cats are very stoic and can hide TREMENDOUS amounts of pain, so just because she's not whimpering of crying outright doesn't mean she's not miserable.
Avatar m tn I tend to agree with her that there is probably something going on with her anal glands that may not be all that bothersome to her when her body is normal, but because of the swelling of the vulvar area when she is in heat it could be putting a bit of pressure on the anal glands and making her a bit uncomfortable. After her cycle is over and her body returns to normal, she doesn't notice it any more after the swelling goes down. Just a thought.
Avatar m tn Dogs will mate towards the end of her cycle. I know larger dogs have a cycle of about 3 wks. I'm not sure with smaller dogs. If she isn't ready to mate she will let the male know.
Avatar n tn i have a 7 week old siberian husky puppy he went outside to potty and when he came back in i noticed his face was swelling a little. then his mouth.
Avatar m tn yea im sure its not a puppy im keeping a good eye on her she does not seem off or botherd she seems well in herself and she dont seem to be in discumfort
Avatar f tn Can you have an allergy in one eye that causes swelling of the upper eyelid throughout the day? My eyelid swells (upper lid only) throughout the day (less swelling when I first wake up) and feels heavy. Grittiness in the swollen eye (actually both eyes at times) - but no swelling on the other eye. Please help with your thoughts! Thanks.
1622896 tn?1562364967 DO NOT ALLOW HER TO COME INTO CONTACT WITH ANY MALE DOGS until the swelling in her vulva is COMPLETELY GONE. The time in her heat cycle when you see the little blood droplets around the floor and places she has sat or laid down is not her fertile time. After the blood droplets are no longer visible, THAT'S the time to worry about her getting caught by the males.
Avatar m tn If the swelling is on the top jaw under the eye a carnassial root abscess is likely and a dental xray and extraction will solve the issue Dr Sims
Avatar f tn Your friend has a very difficult decision to face. When we take animals into our home, they trust us to take care of their physical and mental needs. Your friend has broken that trust - unwittingly - but it's a hard fact to understand when we feel love and a connection to our pets. If your friends can take a step back and view the situation objectively, they may find that they simply cannot meet the needs of a dog, whether it is one dog or two.
