Common Questions and Answers about Eye infection viral

infection

Avatar m tn Hi nightrunner21, Both gonorrhea and chlamydia can infect the eye, but it's true that you could have a viral eye infection not related to a STD. Other STDs can infect the eye, too. You need to go visit with a Eye MD (ophthalmologist) so that these can be ruled out. Syphillis and HIV need to be checked off the list, too. Best of luck!
Avatar n tn Based on the description shared by you the common possibilities are corneal abrasions, corneal infections, conjunctivitis, blepharitis, any foreign body in the eye. These all can cause a sore eye and watering from the eyes. Conjunctivitis due to allergies or infections either viral or bacterial is the commonest cause of red sore eyes, itchiness and discharge. It is best to get your eyes checked by an ophthalmologist and only after a correct diagnosis treatment can be started.
Avatar n tn my baby is 5 wk old and his left eye has an infection yellow discharge and water discharge i'm using ciflox but no use.. what should i do?
Avatar m tn For past 1 1/2 years i am having a reccurant viral infection in my left eye. Due to which i have a foggy/blurry vision on my left eye which may decrease if i put the steroid drops more times a day and increases once i stop or decrease the frequency of drops. I have shown this to many specialists including retinal surgeons. They are saying it takes long to cure.
Avatar m tn See an ophthalmologist or optometrist. Might not be an infection. Or could be a viral infection that antibiotics don't kill.
Avatar n tn In short, i got a viral infection in my right eye 2 months ago and even after treatment my eye was back to normal in about 1 month and 1-2 weeks since the initial infection symptoms. While we did a culture test to identify the virus as chlamydial conjunctivitis it came back negative so we have no idea what virus might had caused this.
Avatar m tn Hi, Last week i was diagnosed with Pink eye ( not sure of bacterial or viral ) with no other complications. I was exposed to severe dusty environment the previous day. The day i was diagnosed with pink eye my wife had severe flu like symptoms with fever ( 101 - 102 ), fatigue, cold and diarrhea...My pink eye infection has got anything to do with my wife's health condition? please advice.
Avatar m tn Welcome to our Forum. I can understand how after being in the strip club you might be concerned that you somehow picked up an STD through contact with a dancer but it is most unlikely. Let me outline some of the reasons that I say this: 1. Chlamydia is simply not effectively transmitted from one person to another on contaminated fingers. If it were we would see genital infections as well as eye infections arising this way and we do not. 2.
Avatar f tn Based on your description, it sounds like you may have a viral infection that began in one eye and subsequently transferred to your other eye. Typically bacterial infections have thick yellow/greenish drainage, and there is some history of trauma or prior lid infection to one eye only, so the fact that both eyes are involved go against this diagnosis. The history of having a flu and the clear discharge (crying) also support a diagnosis of viral infection.
740516 tn?1360942486 Yes, conjunctivitis is often referred to as pink eye. It is often caused by a viral infection that is contagious, but it is the underlying infection that is contagious, not conjunctivitis. Conjunctivitis can also be caused by allergies or dry eye or other tear duct conditions that are not contagious.
Avatar m tn Correct. No Known cases of transmission from such an incident. The medical experts can make such claims but they can't substantiate them. The CDC has no documented cases of ejaculate in the eyes.
Avatar f tn Nine days ago I woke up with an extremely mild case of pink eye in my left eye. My sister had been suffering from it, so it was pretty easy to guess where I'd caught it, and I went promptly into the doctor to get it checked out. She confirmed it was pink eye (but didn't say whether it was viral or bacterial) and prescribed me antibiotic eyedrops. Knowing that it usually spread to both eyes I started drops in both eyes.
Avatar f tn You can look on WebMD or the internet and read about adenovirus eye infections and one variant called EKC (epidemicokeratoconjunctivitis). Eye Fishing will only make the problem worse and can simulate ongoing infection by causes the eye to be read and water and produce mucous. Yes it could by chlamydia.
Avatar f tn Do you believe there is anyway that I could have acquired Clamydia through the incident that I described to you in my previous post here. I am scared that I may have a clamydia related eye infection. Do u think its possible from sucking on balls and licking feet like I previously described?? Please help.
Avatar f tn m 28 weeks and juat getting over a viral infection, sinus infection, laryngitis and pink eye, I was givin amoxicillin and was able to take tylonol, unfortunately that all...
Avatar n tn If you temperature keeps fluctuating, going up and down, you may have an infection which may be a bacterial or a viral one. It is still worth making an appointment to see your doctor to check you out. If the doctor feels it is a bacterial infection, you will get prescribed with an antibiotic. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Avatar m tn The doctor said that swollen gums may be caused my any viral infection as the body fights off the infection. It sounds like I have no reason to be concerned?
Avatar n tn He has lost 12 pounds, has been in and out of the hospital and each time is diagnosed with a viral infection. I was curious what your thoughts are in regards to the symptoms he has been experiencing. It all started after a work out at the gym. He was driving home and felt as if he was going to pass out. The drive home took 45 minutes when it should have only took 20. He said he kept getting lost.
Avatar m tn For roughly the last 2 months I been told by a Dr that I was fighting a viral infection all the flu symptoms went away besides my 2 mouth ulcers and diarrhea. at first the Dr said don't worry about it but how can i not if its been 2 months and still their... I'm worried that it can be something major but who knows... I just pray to god to take my pain away since its hard for me to deal with this. please if anyone can help let me know thank you!
Avatar m tn The doctor said that it was a viral infection since my lymph node is inflamed and discharge came out of my eye. He gave me eye drops. Here my anxiety started to kick in and i started freaking out. I started asking my self is it herpes? I checked my lips, my gums all my face and if i find a pimple and directly start to panic.
223173 tn?1189755826 I would guess that you are not dealing with a bacterial infection, but viral. Yes, I do understand the doctor's office telling you all not to worry if he is not having the above problems you mentioned, but the infection is not subsiding; that would worry me. I would recommend asking the physician for another medication, i.e. a corticosteroid eye drops and an antiviral medication. If the problem persists, he should probably see an Ophthalmologist.
Avatar n tn If there is active infection beyond 3 weeks, it's not pinkeye. However, severe corneal viral infections with pinkeye can leave some longer term effects. There is no active infection but the cornea is left with some tiny post-viral "dots" which are self limited but may cause sensitivity to light or contacts. If you really have recurrent infection, it is probably a chronic low-grade staph infection. At this point, do what Dr.
Avatar n tn She told me it was likely viral pink eye, to continue the drops, and because it is contagious, not to go to work for a week. I went back and saw her today, and she changed the antibiotic drop to a stronger one, and proceed to scrape the inside of my eyelids. She said that this particular virus causes "membranes" to develop that, if left alone, can cause scarring. She also told me I am still contagious, and still can't go back to work.
Avatar f tn About 2 months ago I got conjunctivitis. It turned into Ketra conjunctivitis, when I saw an eye doctor two weeks a go he said it was 99% cleared but my vision wasn't 100% back to normal. It seems to be coming back again. How long does Ketra or viral conjunctivitis last? Is it normal to recur? Is it something I'll live with forever ? Is it normal to last so long ?
