Common Questions and Answers about Exercise tv videos

Avatar m tn I’d like to start exercising but I’d rather do it at home. Any reliable source of exercise videos out there? At what age do i have to start monitoring my cholesterol levels?
Avatar f tn I always forget that my cable provider has On Demand and I am pretty sure there are exercise videos on there. I'll have to remember to look when I get the chance. I know Discovery Health has an exercise hour on in the morning. I'm not up at the time, but I can always tape it. The only tapes I have are Abs of Steel and a Tae Bo tape, which isn't very strenuous at all. lol I do like to dance to my CDs too. I have a lot of techno and house so never any dull moments with it!
483733 tn?1326802046 He just ate and sat in his chair watching TV. He is now morbidly obese and as a consequence greatly suffers even more due to the weight on his joints. I am determined to not let that happen to me and this diagnosis is spurring me to lose the weight and stay active. Do any of you have advice on best exercises for an arthritic body? I don't want to hurt my joints but will not sit still and stiffen up.
649848 tn?1534637300 Do you go to a gym? Walking, running, etc? Workout videos? Do you have your own exercise equipment? Whatever your "mode" of exercise is -- let's see how many different things we can come up with!! I'm also curious if anyone has a hard time getting started with exercise or can you just jump right in, stay consistent and love it... If so, how much time do you spend on exercise per day/week?? If not, what can we do to help? Personally, I have a Wii, along with the Wii Fit.
973741 tn?1342346373 When you can't get to a gym or it is a bad weather day, what do you do in the house that is considered exercise? (I know chasing kids is constant exercise but you know what I mean . . .
Avatar f tn Find something you like that gets you moving (try some dancercise or dance how-to videos for fast dances if exercise videos are too unmotivating) and just move a lot. And get a calorie-counting book or find a calorie-count website, and really measure how high the calories are in one day of eating. (For example, eating a serving of potato chips requires a person to walk a half hour, to expend more calories than they just took in.
Avatar f tn D Comcast On Demand features exercise videos of various styles and time lengths, like 10 minutes of pilates or 35 minutes of boot-camp cardio. So I can watch exercise videos on TV while The Kid is napping. This solves the "what exercises can I do during the winter?" dilemma. For breakfast today I had tuna fish salad with Ritz crackers, but I should probably admit that I didn't eat that until this afternoon, when Deuce and I came back from errand running.
Avatar f tn 0) I am so happy with my weight loss. Rewarded myself with a greatly reduced designer pair of glasses.
Avatar n tn if you have a smart tv or hdmi cord, hook up your tv and watch some very helpful workout videos from shamaroo, you can burn up to 200 calories and it only 20-30 minutes. I work two jobs and go to school so it helps me a lot and it's convenient.
1221258 tn?1267546029 Happy to report I've lost that 10 pounds yet again and hope this time with a little exercise I can keep it off. I have yoga videos, Hip Hop Abs (;-)) and many others. Each day I think I will exercise but the energy is not there and I put it off yet another day. Not working - I just want to stay on the couch and watch TV or sleep. Energy is so low...
Avatar n tn If you don't wish to make that big an investment, do you have a DVD player , VCR or cable TV? There are fitness tapes and videos you can buy or get from the library. There are also cable stations that run exercise shows all day long. If you work out with one of those for 30 minutes a day that would be something. Denise Austin has an indoor walk DVD for about 10 dollars. It's the equivalent of a mile walk in 15 minutes and ahs several workouts on it.
293845 tn?1228001130 However, the reason the American Academy of Pediatrics is death on kids under 2 watching TV is an important one, not fanciful or even just a general healthy idea like exercise or not eating sugar. All research points very clearly to a link between early TV watching and later development of ADHD. It's the short duration of the video images that is harmful -- kids' programming (even Baby Einstein) uses short bursts of images: i.e.
Avatar f tn One of them is the need to watch gory movies with your friends, gory videos, gory TV shows with friends or alone. In the future say no thanks and stay away from theses TV shows, movies, videos, etc which keep getting worse BECAUSE they seem to be popular and generate sales which generates money to the companies who produce them. Say no to this industry which produces them.

1346146 tn?1299364097 We recently took my boys xbox and wii and put it in our family/living room. I bought dance central 1 & 2. Both have a fitness mode. I get bored on all exercise videos etc. I did the dance central 20 minute workout(8) songs and I was ready to do another workout after that!(they had a 10 minute 4 song one) it was FUN!!!!
Avatar n tn That's why when it's really big it's called a beer belly, because beer is a lot of simple carbs. As for exercise, there are a million good ab exercises you can learn at your local gym. Cardio also helps with this. Don't expect a six-pack, most will never get there, but you can tone it but it will take work. Only you can determine if that work is worth it or not.
Avatar n tn Hi Forum members! I am about 25 pounds overweight (age 44, 175# - 5'7") and a recent diabetic diagnossie. I started my Time Life "The Firm" videos again this wee because Doc says I have to excrcise for an hour a day. I KNOW those vidoes work, cuz I used them way back in 1997 (or so) when I used to be thin (age 34, 126# - 5'8"). So here is my question....... because I am overweight and larger, will this exercise build my muscles large like the size my legs are?
221122 tn?1323014865 I finally decided to get up and move again (it's been too hot to walk outside) and my heart has just be awful when trying to exercise. Even walking to my car (far away from work) with my heavy bag is causing a lot of hard PVCs. I have never had this with any real regularity. Otherwise, it's pretty calm. I want to exercise but these things try to stop me in my tracks. Especially when my workout requires arms over head or quick tightening of the body (core).....very weird.
Avatar f tn Also the weekends are a great time for getting out of the house walking (briskly), running, riding a bike or you could record exercise shows from TV or buy some videos and doing those on weekends. I was taught in school that it takes about 4-5 hours a week of exercise to lose weight and 3 hours a week to keep it off once you reach the goal. Changing eating habits for the better permanently is the way to go as well.
684175 tn?1295481438 I know it is a computer system...correct? How does it fit in to exercising? It has exercise videos? Sorry to sound so naive!!!
Avatar f tn Not GERD. NOT ACID REFLUX. Pain can occur anytime of day or night. Position, such as lying in bed watching tv propped on pillows can trigger an attack. Wearing tight clothing, such as sports bras can also trigger the attacks. I am very active physically the last five years and for the last year have done intense exercise regularly 3-11 hours per week teaching a physical fitness class. I need a diagnosis.
Avatar f tn although i have to say your baby should not be watching TV that young, and it's good he's not willing to anymore. you answered your own question... he won't stop moaning or crying until you come and play with him. he's bored! he's immobile and doesn't have control of his hands yet. imagine how bored you'd be! i know it's tiring and frustrating, but you're his mommy. i learned a few tricks along the way. if you're reading a magazine, read out loud to him.
5982197 tn?1391480996 Avoid too much caffeine and sugar (and stay away from alcohol). 3) Exercise. Do some gentle exercise every day, even if just for 30 minutes. Stretch, walk, swim, do some yoga. 4) Stay hydrated. Drink a lot of water (particularly important in pregnancy). 5) Sleep. Make sure you cultivate good sleep hygiene: get 8 hours of sleep a night, go to bed and get up at the same time each day, avoid eating or watching tv before bed. 6) Laugh. Laughter is powerful medicine.
Avatar f tn Recently I had leg pain which everyone said was due to exercise etc. How could it be? I asked, as I don't exercise. I was told to take pain killers. I refused and demanded a mri, ideally lumbar and if that shows nothing then another mri higher up. Lo and behold - TUMOR! Now the fund begins looking for someone with a wealth of experience removing these.
Avatar f tn I started watching Exercise TV and ordering in-home yoga, Pilates, and walking videos, so that I could get some type of physical activity in the privacy of my living room. “Leslie Sansone” produces gentle in-home walking videos that really motivate you (www.lesliesansone.com). "GAIAM" also has some great yoga, meditation, and Pilates videos that help to ease your mind and give you a little motivation and energy (www.gaiam.com). You can order these on line.
148588 tn?1465782409 Most of the kids are holding their parents' phones playing games or watching videos. I think there is some benefit in some apps on occasion but the electronic babysitter now extends to our phones. Ugh. I'm guilty of it sometimes too . . . I tell one of my kids to pack up their DS game player if I'm afraid it will be a long hour or more of nothing to do for my kids. But often, I just bring a ball and send the kid off to play close by. and they are perfectly happy.
Avatar m tn Also, yoga helps to alleviate chronic pain and muscle aches, even if you just get a DVD or find a class on TV or there are free lessons on YouTube. Of course, you can find classes in your area, too. There is a yoga app on iphone that has the free youtube classes, claiming to be the best yoga on youtube: http://www.appolicious.com/health/apps/93462-yoga-at-home-videos-for-beginners-pacific-spirit-media.
Avatar f tn AND -- there always has to be one, doesn't there? LOL Don't forget exercise. I know that with 4 kids, you probably think you get plenty, but that's not always the case. You could try going for a brisk walk every day, along with the vacuuming, sweeping, and other movements necessary for keeping a home and raising 4 kids. You might also look into doing some yoga; walking and yoga are my favorites....
