Avatar f tn When I do upper arm lifting, I do a lift called arnold's press, and lots of others just using dumbbells. I always take my time during all of this. So if it takes me an hour to do forty five minutes of actual exercise than that's fine. I'm not in it for body building or compoetitive sports I just like to exercise and be healthy I guess.
Avatar n tn Hey guys, Well, it has been 5 years since I graduated college and began working 50+ hours a week in a fairly stressful job. Unfortunately, my exercise routine from college took a back burner after I entered the workforce. I don't smoke, drink coffee, and rarely drink. Nutritionally, I don't have the best diet, but it's not the worst either. I could eat more fruits/vegetables, but I don't live on fast food either.
Avatar n tn The whole workout will take 40 to 50 minutes with the warm-up. This workout includes exercises you do with dumbbells and a fitness ball. Repeat each exercise for 45 seconds or do 20 to 30 repetitions. Pick the weights for each exercise accordingly; you do not want weights that are too heavy or too light. Some exercises involve two moves at the same time, such as lunges and bicep curls.

Avatar n tn If you need heavier bells -- one weight isn't usually enough, as some exercises are just easier than others and need more weight -- one purchase of them might come with a whole set of exercises to do with them if you buy from certain places. In the meantime, anything you do for exercise can be made more intensive by using light dumbbells -- squats, many ab exercises, core exercises, and I'm sure you know how to do simple curls and lifts. Just do them correctly so you don't injure yourself.
Avatar n tn To vary your strength training routine, change the mode, type and resistance level of your exercises. Instead of using dumbbells, try resistance bands. Alternatively, replace preacher curls with bicep curls and up your repetitions. Avatar n tn Hi James, Glad to see that you want to keep fit. I would encourage more aerobic exercise rather than lifting. Not only because aerobic exercise is better for your health, but because the more lifting you do, the more strain you may put on your pacer leads. You definitely shouldn't do any lifting that involves weights impacting your chest near your pacemaker -- like bench pressing.

Avatar f tn This involves exercise and dietary changes. Decrease eating fattening foods. Replace onion rings, cupcakes, processed meats, white flour products, candy bars and potato chips with healthier foods that are loaded with nutrients. Get to a point where you are eating nothing but fruits, greens, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, low-fat dairy products, beans and fish. By making these changes, you will save yourself empty calories and promote weight loss.
1317224 tn?1378708734 Please forgive the Pity Party I threw for myself in my prior post. I just needed to "vent" so I wouldn't explode...or implode. In addition to thanking you for your note, I wanted to congratulate you. 17 lbs. is a HUGE amount to lose over 1 month's time. CONGRATULATIONS!!! You can't expect to lose at such a fast pace for a sustained time...1 to 2 lbs a week is what the experts advise as reasonable...so don't judge yourself too harshly or become too discouraged when the pace slows.
Avatar f tn Hi Rowena, It's been a few days and while the pain is still there when I move my head, cough, etc, it has lessened in severity significantly (ie I was able to mow my lawn & go for a bike ride today). I did start wearing a soft cervical collar when watching TV & using my lap top (I notice more pain while using the laptop due to my head posture) & it seems to help.
79998 tn?1291188201 I did something totally different this time. I was using the pods I was on less (opium plant pods) and switched to heroin about a month ago, while using pods here and there. I worked my way up to 2-3 bags per day (20 dollars a bag) using them at one dose at night, or two doses within an hour because I felt nothing usually after about an hour. I was snorting these. The first time I tried cold turkey, I relapsed because I had the opium pods around.
Avatar n tn Regardless of whether you perform exercise indoors or out, you should drink sufficient water when you exercise. The recommendation is 10 glasses a day for adults and taking drinks every 15-20 minutes during workouts. Sports drinks and juices can replace lost nutrients during exercise. Some sports supplements are known to cause headaches. If you currently use supplements, try cycling out one thing at a time to see if something you are taking is causing the headaches.
Avatar n tn I do a lot of running and other exercise and my abs never tighten up like that any other time other than doing sit ups. Everytime I try to do sit ups I can get through about 10 then the upper right abdominal area completely tightens and feels like a really really bad charlie horse. I'm just looking for any advice or experience with this that anyone can give me. I saw my family doctor and he said it's not a hernia and it could maybe be my gallbladder.
Avatar n tn I know that hydration and using lotion everyday seems to help some. I am trying to make friends with my older self...it's the only way I'll ever be happy! It's not easy.
Avatar n tn Also, I had several in my shins and couldn't do leg extentions without my eyes watering because I was in so much pain (not from the exercise, but from the leg extention machine pad against my shins). After working on my trigger points in my shins I can do leg extentions pain free. Good luck!
Avatar n tn Work? Have sex? Exercise? One doctor says I'll never exercise again. One says, maybe in 6 weeks. One says maybe in 6 months. BUT, everyone qualifies everything they say with, "but I'm really not sure." Can I just walk around a track right now? Isn't that kind of like walking at the mall? Can I do whatever I want as long as I keep my heart rate below X? The official word from my discharge is not to lift anything over 2 lbs. and to pretend like I had abdominal surgery.
211940 tn?1267884866 who performed Nerve Conduction Studies exam on both my arms and confirmed I have carpal tunnel syndrome in both arms which I knew I had but I was not using the braces because they gave me little relief. Dr. suggested I start using them again because sometimes CTS can cause pain in the upper arms and the braces can relieve this, so I did. After 6 weeks of painful nights with little sleep, I am finally free of the pain and am sleeping much better and without any pain meds.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm a 22-year-old female so this may help women...2 months ago I started using Nuvaring (and IUD for of birth control), during that time I've had two UTIs and pain on my right side (under my ribs and lower back) and just recently found out that it's most likely due to my birth control. I go to my family doctor tomorrow (I'm overly paranoid when I don't feel well) but I took the ring out 2 days ago, and already feel somewhat better.
