You do need to exercise though to stay toned, help with the weight control and overall health (heart, brain, everything is better with exercise). So, first, think about your diet. The first thing I did was think of trigger food or food that just added nothing that would make a difference if I cut it out. I stopped drinking all pop/soda/coke.

Avatar n tn I just started a little over a week ago and am happy to report that at my one week check up/weigh in I lost 5 lbs and 3/4 oz. The weight seems to be falling off. I started at 221 and am hoping to lose at least 80 lbs also. One way for me to remain focused is that I set myself up for short goals. For instance, every 10 lbs I loose I give myself $20.00 to put up for new clothes in the future. Keep us posted on your success.

Avatar f tn Back in December I started a weight loss program through diet and exercise. To start I was 140 lbs, now I am 113 lbs. I'm 23 years old, female, petite, small frame and short. I'm only 5 feet 2 inches. I've done a great job eating right and exercising. I've been able to tone up my arms and legs through weight training/brisk walking. My stomach is definitely smaller, toned a little bit, however, I still have lower abdominal fat. Often called the "lower belly pooch".

Avatar f tn I remember a midwife saying to me, remember how long it took for your belly to get like that...expect it to take the same length of time to get it back how it was. You've nothing to be embarrassed about, you've been unfortunate and are really strong to be coping as well as you are. If your dr says it's ok, sleeping on your belly can help.

She has recently done Weight Watchers for one month and followed it religiously. She lost practically no weight. She also exercise at least five times a week for an hour and a half. She is very frustrated and I don't have any answers. Unfortunately, her doctors over the years don't seem to be able to help.

Avatar n tn I am 38 yr old female and my heart rate sometimes goes to 200+bpm during exercise. I also get pain when it's that high. Dr. put me on a beta blocker to slow the heart rate down. Check with your doctor about what might help you. Good luck!
Avatar m tn After reading these posts, I believe that post-exercise abdominal pain is not such a rare thing even though my GI doc does not seem to want to hear about it. I cannot manage a life without exercise so am trying to deal with the pain but sometimes it is so bad, I have to take something for it. I have found that eating yogurt with probiotics seems to help but I will continue to read this forum to search for other ideas.
Avatar f tn There are no diet meds that work. Are you on an exercise program? Eating healthy w/ exercise is the key the weight loss. However, in the end it comes down to a simple principal - you need to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight. Look up "basal metabolic rate" - that will tell you how many calories you need to MAINTAIN your current weight.

I saw it a well known book store a while back so I know that it is still out on the market. The book is very useful! It gives the fat grams for almost everything out there. And if something wasn't in it I would just read labels. I would also write down everything I put in my mouth.

So you have to convince the body first that it's not starving and you have to make it think it NEEDS to let go of the fat based on how you exercise. A leisurely walk isn't going to be very convincing, your body can give you all the energy for that just fine and not break a sweat. A good 30 minute power walk will challenge your body though.

Since that time I have progressively been gaining weight and nothing I do will get that weight off. I am stricter with my diet than I have ever been, 1400 calories and working out burning 500 calories a day. I wear an apple watch it's accurate too. I have tried eating more, tried not working out.
