Common Questions and Answers about Exercise program to lose 20 pounds

exercise

Avatar n tn At that weight, I am hoping the exercising will become less strenuous and I will lose at least 2 sizes in clothing. I have tried to lose these last 20 pounds for at least 2 years, but without results. The only results I think I am getting is water retention , excess hunger, and tighter clothes. I drink quite a bit of either hot water with some lemon juice or decaffeinated coffee/tea with a sugar substitute to curb hunger.
Avatar n tn Have you been taking your measurements? You could be losing inches even when not losing pounds, especially since you said you are exercising.
560272 tn?1311353893 I am new to this forum and need to lose 70-80 pounds, I use to weigh around 150 and after quitting smoking gained a significant amount of weight that I have been battling and can't seem to get back down. I just had a hysterectomy and would like to get to work on this! Whatever I can do to support people here, I hope to do so, it would be helpful to learn about your stuggles and what works for all of you! Look forward to hearing from you and wish everyone success.
179530 tn?1368940203 with protein I try to stick with lower fats choices like chicken, turkey, (approved) fish, and lean beef. Even more significant than the food however is sticking to an exercise program. I've made sure to get 30-45 minutes of low impact excercise (usually walking) at least 3-4 times per week. I find that keeping that routine has been the biggest help for me. But, of course clear that with your Dr. first. There's no magic unfortunatley...I wish there was!! Best of luck to you!!!
Avatar n tn This weight loss clinic is great because they also have B6 and B12 injections, but I haven't tried those yet. I started out at 170 pounds and so far, I have lost 20 pounds in one month just using the phentermine by itself. My goal is to get down to about 125-130 pounds. I am eating a low fat low cal diet (about 1000-1500 cals per day). I also exercise 5-6 days per week. I do 1 hour of cardio every day and weights every other day. I try to drink lots of water, but I could do better!!!
Avatar f tn reports that diet cycling, along with an exercise program, may be an effective way to lose weight. Always check with your physician before starting any new diet or weight-loss plan. http://www.livestrong.com/article/237566-free-weight-loss-tracking-tools/ The Peak 8 routine it will quickly raise your heart rate 8 times for very short bursts, with a cooling down period in between.
Avatar f tn Hey all! My name is Ari and recently I have embarked on a goal to lose 40lbs by May 1st! ! I am only 5'1" and I weigh 145lbs. I am not large looking but I do have a chubby face and belly and my thighs are losing muscle and gaining fat so I really want to trim and tone my body. I think 105lbs by May is a reachable goal but I am looking for different recommendations on some things and for ideas on how to get there!
Avatar f tn so anytime your level of activity suddenly increases your body stops burning fat and burns only blood sugar. And, when it comes to exercise, most people trying to lose weight make a big mistake of doing the wrong kinds of exercise. Jogging, biking, and aerobics are great for the heart, lungs and circulation, but they do not burn fat or condition the body to burn fat. Now, the ideal approach is to lose weight without a lot of hard exercising.
Avatar f tn This is the one (of two that I saved) that is long, but it makes a lot of sense: https://www.1843magazine.
Avatar f tn I would be happy at 119 pounds. I was up to 140 pounds last summer and somehow lost 11 pounds. How do I lose the extra 10? The one habit I can't seem to break is eating before bedtime. My body can't sleep if I haven't eaten enough during the day and so I have to compensate with a meal before bedtime so I can sleep properly. I exercise 5-7 days a week for at least one hour running or swimming, sometimes both adding up to 1 1/2 hours.
Avatar n tn Sounds like we are on the same schedule. My weightloss goal is to lose 70 pounds. I just came across this web site / message board by accident and I am so glad I did. Anyway, good luck to you, to us all. Have a wonderful weekend.
Avatar n tn I don't think the thyroid is the cause of weight problems -- it seems to boil down to diet/exercise -- perhaps with assistance of dietician and/or exercise physiologist. Could also be asked to be tested for insulin resistance/pre-diabetes.
776302 tn?1241095453 I will try the protein bars. Yes, I know that exercise is the main thing to lose weight and I've been slacking off. I must get back into that healthy habit. I have to lose at least 60 lbs for my heart condition. I feel very disabled at 256 lbs. That's why I will buy Herbalife. Thanks again.
Avatar n tn I know it may surprise you to hear that advise to lose weight but its true. Your body could be in starvation mode and storing everything you give it as fat. If you really have a hard time eating that much, try eating several small meals and snacks throughout the day. Good luck.
Avatar f tn 99 and helped me to lose 20 pounds I never gained back. I am going on it again before Christmas. It is the only diet that I have had any success with. I lost 25 pounds at tha start with no exercise. If you stop drinking alcohol vcompletely that helps alot too. I used to be 260 and now I am 235. It is only hard for a few days then it get easier. I just started it again acouple days ago. My boyfriends mother lost over 120 pounds on the diet with playing tennis.
Avatar n tn I don't like to exercise at all. I have to take time for me when I do exercise. Have you tried just walking. Walk 20-30 minutes at a fast pace 3-5 days per week. Stop eating 4 hrs prior to bed time. Drink plenty of water 4-6 8oz class per day. Serve youself on a small plate. When you finish don't go for seconds. It is a small change that worked for me. It allowed me to eat what I like. I find that when we are told you can not have is when we want it the most.
Avatar n tn My band is proably a bit tight, but with on 20 pounds to go I am going to suffer through until I reach the goal. I do take multivitamins, iron, B12, calcuim, soo I think I'm getting everything I need to remain healthy. I hope that the mouth guard helps with the sleeping. I have found that the slimmer and healthier I get, the more trouble I have sleeping - too much energy! Good luck and God bless.
Avatar n tn I was thin when I was younger, then chubby where I looked like I could lose 10-20 pounds. Nothing horrible-but I wanted to be thinner and feel better. It took me a long time to get rid of my bad hapbits, and even now I still think about binging-but I remind myself how cruddy I will feel even thougth I want to eat, eat, eat! I can't exactly pin-point what made me stop-but I do know that I started walking with two girlfriends 5x per week.
698538 tn?1228126579 On sureslim they come up with allowable foods, give you specific weights and guidelines and you can only have three meals spaced 5 hours apart. portion control is the key, i didn't have to exercise to lose the 45 lbs it was all about food intake. my ob seems to want someone my height at 175lbs. whatever diet you choose i hope it works for you. good luck.
Avatar n tn I am doing the Tennessee program, and i was hungry for the first couple weeks, but was really not hungry after that.
Avatar f tn I weigh 225 pounds. Have 20 to 25% LVEF and take lithium 450mg daily along with lamictal 200mg a day for bi-polar diagnosis since 1973. How do I lose weight with this situation...psych drugs are mandatory for mental health stability, even though they retain fluid in my body. I would like to know realisticlly how to lose weight or is it even a possiblity given the circumstances mentioned. If it is able to be accomplished...how do I lose the weight, what do you suggest?
619345 tn?1310345021 I can eat anything I want to on this treatment and I don't gain, I lose. Ten pounds in 8 months, and still going down. I eat more now than I ever have in my life, still lose. I don't how anybody can gain weight but they say they do.
Avatar n tn I am using nopalina linaza plus to lose weight. I am 131 pounds, 5'1. I have to lose weight around my stomach and hips. I take 2 spoons in 4 ounces of water or juice twice a day. Can I lose weight using Nopalina?
Avatar f tn Get rid of the junk food from your diet, focus on unprocessed foods that keep you feeling full, such as vegetables and fruits, lean meats, dairy and whole grains. Aim to lose 1 to 2 pounds per week; you'll need to cut 3,500 calories to lose 1 pound of fat. Reducing your daily calorie intake by 500 will yield a 1-pound loss each week; adding exercise should take you closer to the 2-pounds per week mark.

1278093 tn?1294323984 In fact I have been told to lose weight. not alot of weight but try to lose some each day by staying away from the foods that have no value.
1508600 tn?1289925850 I was a skeleton while on treatment then when it was over gainned back all I lost PLUS 20 pounds and man oh man it was impossible to lose.......that is typical of life isn't it? Becki if you can lose it - lose it but as I found out after treatment it sure isn't that easy a thing to do!
Avatar n tn No big medical conditions - I was getting borderline high with blood pressure, but have managed to get that down with some lifestyle changes (including exercise) and supplements to a very healthy level. Also, I've actually been exercising regularly for some time (over a year regularly, and was on and off before that) - it's just I've increased the intensity a bit lately. Sprint 8 looks interesting.
Avatar f tn , entirely premeditated. After working hard to lose 20 pounds, this was my decision. Need I wonder why I feel completely entitled to join this forum? I remain opiate free, but I am defined by my desire for excess, especially if it is "immoral, illegal, or fattening!" Wait, I seem to be safe from the immoral one, not enough hormones left, I guess. I certainly want only moderation in beneficial activities, like exercise, or socializing, etc. Okay, enough of this boring confessional.
