exercise

3151606 tn?1420356612 During an EP study, to test atrioventricular conduction, they artificially stimulate the atria at increasing speed until the AV node (the "gatekeeper") is starting to block impulses. This is known as the "Wenckebach point". One may think this is similar to max pulse (maximum HR during exercise) but that's not correct. When you exercise you release lots of adrenaline which both stimulate the sinus node and the AV node to allow more rapid conduction.
Avatar f tn Now i dont know if you have children as well, but even if you didnt you are still facing alot of stress, being a student often means you get lummbered with the jobs, all the nasty messy jobs, that the qualified nurses dont wana do and your running around like a headless chicken. I would suggest that in the very limited time you do have for yourself take a portion of this time and meditate, do relaxation exercises.
Avatar f tn I have been seeing a cardiologist because I can't exercise long before my heart rate jumps to over 170. I'm a 52 year old woman in otherwise good health. I recall having this problem all my life. I'm tried continued exercise to build up my tolerance but I never get any improvement. My respirologist did a stress test which showed I change from an aerobic to an anaerobic state at an early stage of exercise. Do you know what this might be. The cardiologist seems stumped also.

Avatar f tn Is it possible that 2 leaky valves would cause my heart rate to elevate quickly during exercise? If so how am I supposed to exercise? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn While it looks good on paper, based on actual physiology of exercise and pathology of diabetes whether type 1 or 2 is not that easy to do and could be dangerous due to occurrence of hypoglycemia during or after exercise. I am not a doctor but reading the physiology of exercise which got very interested when my doctor announced that I am now a bona fide type 2 diabetic, i question the effectiveness of more intensive or vigorous exercises.
Avatar n tn To provide a perspective, it is true everyone has different physiology, respond differently to therapy, etc, but in a general sense aerobic exercise is beneficial and recommended on a continuing basis....that would include at a brisk walk at least 3 time a week for a half hour. There should be some resistant training to maintain muscle tone and strength.
Avatar m tn I'm going to try to explain what I remember from my Anatomy/ Physiology class 8 years ago so that you won't be quite so concerned... hopefully. The spleen and the liver are two completely different organs with completely different jobs. The spleen gets enlarged because it is filtering out the damaged red blood cells and their fragments from the blood stream. If you read the pamphlet that came with the Ribavirin, it says that there is a chance of hemolytic anemia...
Avatar n tn enrgy is the last to return and was 3 months for me....just wanted to mention that...the supps help this..especially the tyrosine, dlpa, methionone, B complex...cal/mag...a good multi like EmergenC energy booster from walmart...during this time i googled energy like crazy and rocket shots stayed in my frig...dont really need them anymore...
Avatar m tn the penis is just like a muscle - with increased use, it will become stronger and bigger (just like your bicep if you go to a gym and work out) - it will get larger with respect to your initial body physiology. - it will never get to porn star size, but it will be enough to please a woman who loves you!
Avatar f tn My retinal specialist has been checking my epiretinal membrane every 2 months since last fall. The membrane seems to be very slowly lifting back, and we’re continuing to monitor it. Here's my question: I often need chiropractic treatments and massage therapy for a neck problem. Does lying facedown on a head cradle, with some amount of pressure on my eyeballs, have an adverse effect on the ERM attempting to pull itself off? Am I pressing the ERM back down into the retina?
Avatar f tn I think your nickname says it all "newmom" that's the thing with having babies - your physiology has been changed temporarily.
Avatar n tn Pulmonary hypertension indicates the rightside of the heart pumps against more than normal resistance. Untreated and not controled the condition can increase the size of the right ventricle and eventually effect the leftside of the heart and cause heart failure. When the leftside of the heart fails to meet the system's demand for blood/oxygen there can be symptoms of shortness of breath, muscle fatique, chest pain, etc.

Avatar m tn A United Kingdom study found that performing mentally fatiguing tasks before a physical exercise caused people to hit the wall faster than if they performed the same exercises while having a rested mind, even though the mental tiredness didn't affect the performance of the subjects' heart or muscles. The authors said their findings, published in the March issue of the Journal of Applied Physiology, may offer insight into the mysteries of chronic fatigue syndrome.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know or do any stay at home jobs to make money? I am so uncomfortable all the time and I was curious if there's job oppurtunities where I can work from home?
Avatar n tn One way to document whether or not she has a good exercise capacity is indeed to perform a stress echocardiogram. If she can workout to a good workload then you can be reassured that this is not impeding her normal function. But this doesn't mean that she doesn't have an electrical issue. How frequent are the PVcs and does she have any runs of SVT on the holter.

Avatar f tn I have depression and recently decided that while I'm between jobs I'm going to exercise in my home regularly and eat right to help myself be happier and healthier. That was supposed to start last week but then my boyfriend's family of seven people needed to stay at our house for a few nights. We live in a two bedroom apartment that is not meant for nine people.
