Common Questions and Answers about Exercise log workout journal

Avatar f tn There is no gain without pain but the burn I have in my abs and thighs after working out is really making every workout more trying than the last. Then when I go to work my performance is down. Help!
Avatar f tn Getting through that frame of mind is really difficult. You could try keeping a workout journal or putting up post its to remind you of the buzz you get after exercise or the achievements you've made. Likewise you can make plans to exercise with a friend at least once a week, even just a walk. The socialising will boost your mood as well as the exercise and it's a good way to prevent any unmotivated changes in plans because of the expectation to meet up.
Cat And, you may want to switch to a morning treadmill workout. High intensity exercise elevates your levels as the liver is dumping glycogen [liver turns carb sugars into glycogen] for expected energy. This is compounded by the fact that your liver dumps glycogen in the morning in anticipation of your needed energy upon awakening.
Avatar f tn The second study published in The Scandinavian Journal of Medicine and Science in Sports says that exercise stretching is generally unnecessary and likely counterproductive. According to their calculations, "static stretching reduces strength in the stretched muscles by almost 5.5 percent, with the impact increasing in people who hold individual stretches for 90 seconds or more.
Avatar f tn I use a birthing ball, and a pregnancy workout app. I'm 28 weeks and just started the app today. I use to work out all the time so I must admit it knocked the wind out of me. It was very safe workouts but definitely work out at your own speed and make sure to take your time and take breaks when needed!
Avatar n tn s pretty hard to produce progesterone to maintain a workout like Like that when the workout itself was upping my cortisol levels to high and subsequently I lost that pregnancy. This time, I'm not doing even a bit of exercise which is super hard for me until 12 weeks - then I'm switching to Pilates and yoga and walking - the hard core exercise can wait till he/she is out then I'm straight back on the hard core exercise!!
Avatar f tn t know exactly why post-exercise headaches occur, but some doctors believe that strenuous exercise causes the blood vessels in your head to dilate, leading to headaches. You may be more likely to experience exercise headaches if you workout in hot weather or at a high altitude or if you have a family history of migraines.
Avatar f tn t have any medical issues that might sabotage weight loss, such as thyroid, pre-diabetes/insulin resistance, etc? And that you are healthy enough to start an exercise program? Make sure you do that. I read the post by StarryNight23 and thought she pretty much said it. She's right that diets don't work usually and if they do, it's only for a short time and once you go off them, you gain back all the weight.
Avatar f tn and if you want to sweat..... this is the workout for you! I am on my first week and already noticed changes to my body and I feel great.... a little sore but great!
378273 tn?1262097621 Why not start taking take your blood pressure at different intervals, such as immediately prior to exercise, in the middle of a workout, immediately after a workout and an hour after a workout. Keep the results in a log. Then you will be able to better identify the effect of exercise on your blood pressure. Good luck.
Avatar f tn That would usually mean how vigorous it is as far as cardio workout. Someone who is in shape can exercise vigorously, but somebody who has not been getting any real exercise will need to start out with an easier program. Somebody in between can work out at a moderate pace. Everybody should exercise a minimum of 3 days a week to make any gains at all, and it really takes at least four to see fast results.
Avatar f tn Another advantage of drinking a carbohydrate drink post workout is it also replenishes fluid lost during exercise. Fluids are easier to ingest after a vigorous workout than solid food and can be easily carried in a gym bag. Carbohydrate sports recovery drinks are available in powder form and pre-mixed liquids. Drinking a glass of fruit juice is another carbohydrate drink that is absorbed quickly and easily digested.
Avatar f tn I was wondering if you have and suggestions on what I should do or eat and stuff. Like is there a workout plan that i can follow cause i still go to school and i also have a job.
Avatar f tn Early on in your pregnancy you can basically follow your pre-baby workout routine at a lower intensity. It is important to keep your heart rate lower, but you should be able to maintain the same activities (Lifting, running, etc.) into the second trimester. The key is to listen to your body and stop if you feel any pain. I ran until about 30 weeks and did sit ups through the first trimester and feel like that has been a large part of my complication free pregnancy (so far at least). I am 38Wks+2.
Avatar f tn t stretch before doing any exercise routine! What I do is warm up by doing the routine with a light weight so the muscles get warmed up. What you should try is using a foam roller after your routines. The rollers come with directions.

Avatar f tn Jogging is fine if you were jogging regularly prepregnacy. I'm 31 wks, I have 2 different prenatal workout DVDs I do, I go to prenatal yoga & I go for 2 mile walks. Prepregnacy I was a jogger/runner but I had such bad morning (really 24/7) sickness for my 1st tri so I never got back into jogging. Once you get bigger if your still jogging get a maternity belly support wrap, they make a huge difference.
