Avatar f tn Usually my menstrual cycle lasts 3-7 days. This past month my period only lasted 1- 1 1/2 days. I did have protected sexual intercourse on my second day of menstration. Could this have affected my flow? Two weeks prior to my period I have been running for at least 2 days out of the week. Also, I worked out intensly the day before and during my period. I have never had unprotected sex. What could be the cause of having only 1- 1 1/2 day period?
Avatar n tn When stress, like exercise, increases the heart rate, it makes you a higher risk for stroke and heart attack in this profession. Since the stress levels suffered by EMTs in emergency situations, your heart rate may prevent you from getting and keeping a job. Alot of time exercises that are aerobic bring down the heart rate. Biking, swimming, low impact aerobics and power walking are good exercises that will give you a good workout without raising your heart rate too high.
Avatar f tn If you did not have intercourse during that time of your menstrual cycle (12 to 16 days prior to your 1st day of expected period, its unlikely that you are pregnant. Hormonal imbalance, stress, certain medications as contraceptives, polycystic ovarian syndrome, eating disorders, vigorous exercise and thyroid disorders, could also cause delayed period. You can do a urine pregnancy test, and if it is negative consult a gynecologist.
Avatar n tn As for water weight – oh yes! Bloating and water weight are very common for women leading up to and during a period. Combat this by drinking plenty of water and exercise as much as you don’t feel like it – all this brings some relief. Hope that helps!
Avatar f tn what could cause shortness of breath during my menstrual cycle? this began when i was 11 years old and i've now been dealing with it for 28 years. some months are worse than others. it usually just lasts a few days but is miserable. it can begin a few days before my period starts or during my period. it seems to be a hereditary thing. my mother and grandmother had the same problem and my daughter also seems to have it. i've asked doctors about it and nobody seems to have any clue.
Avatar n tn I recently had blood work done to check my immune system and the only thing that showed up is that I have an allergy to who knows what, but my symptoms only surface during my period. Last month my doctor prescribed me claritin to take 2days before my period and throughout it and no cold. This month I didn't take anything and sure enough, I have awful cold symptoms again.
Avatar f tn i also have a watery discharge during my period. it is clear and odorless. even if there is very little blood on my tampon, it soaks through and leaks through my pad and clothing as well. recently, i have been having less liquid blood and more clots, with a lot of the watery discharge. i have three solid days of going through both a tampon and pad within an hour. i also have severe backache and cramping, and just generally feel ill, which i realize could be just normal period stuff.

Avatar n tn Hello All, I have a silly question! I'm 28 years old and have a pretty regular period. I have not been on any form of birth control in 4 years and it seems that every month my weight gain is different around my period time. I also go through a lot of mood swings, Ive never thought of myself as a crazy person, but I swear my emotions are out of control every month recently. My husband had cancer 5 years ago and the doctors thought he would become sterile as a result of the treatments.
Avatar n tn It is not the same in my case but I reckon there might be a correlation because of the temporary hormone imbalance during the menstrual period. In my case, when I feel a cold or flu symptoms, I just increase my Vit.C intake and it always works. So I suppose increasing ones intake of Vit.C prior to the onset of the period might help. Just a though. But hey, its worth a try rather than enduring a flu or cold each and every month.
Avatar f tn Sometimes the menstrual problems correct themselves after some period and it is common for all women to have some disturbances during their puberty to menopause. There are also physiological changes during teens and also the period after pregnancy. I would suggest you to have proper diet and to exercise regularly in a comfortable way and not to stress yourself. Follow up with a gynecologist if your symptoms persist. Take care!
1395422 tn?1308019851 It is interesting to note that menstrual cramps can be measured by the pressure within the uterus and the frequency and number of contractions. The average woman experiencing a normal menstrual period has low-pressure contractions, 15-30 second long, with 1-4 contractions per minute. A woman with menstrual cramps has contractions of a higher pressure (sometimes more than 5 times higher than her counterpart), over 90 seconds long, and often less than 15 seconds apart.
228463 tn?1216765121 In your menstrual cycle the estrogen hits rock bottom 4 to 5 days before your period. In fact, the link seemed so promising that a few years back there were come clinical trials to see of adding in estrogen might actually help treat MS. I think they found it didn't really. But, the hormonal connection is very definitely there. You're right about the rise in body temp also triggering the symptoms. It's basic heat intolerance. I do not know the answer to this, but I can look it up.
Avatar n tn During the week of my period, I gain 6-7 lbs of water and bloat, its really gross and nothing gets rid of it. It's starts the day my period starts, and goes until I start the pill again ( 3 days later the weight starts to go down). My whole body looks like a waterbed, ripply, watery, upper arms, squishy and bloated abdomen. I drink tons of water, etc and it still stays. I know most women bloat a bit BEFORE their periods then lose it when the period comes...

Avatar n tn i have been on depo for 11 years now got off of it once for 7 months and got pregnant during them 7 months i had no period not even any spotting, dont worry at all ur fine..
Avatar n tn Menstrual cramps are normal to have and I get severe menstrual cramps on the first day of my period as well. Typically it is just from hormones that causes the cramping, as the surge will cause contractions, making her period painful. Prevention is much better than management for pain. Exercise and eating healthy can help prevent menstrual cramps to a certain point, but won't always get rid of them.

Avatar f tn Today it has been so severe that I have stayed in the bed all day to avoid getting even more out of breath. Is this normal to experience during my period? I can't help but think the 2 are related considering I have endometriosis & it can cause a lot of different health issues a person wouldn't normally think.

Avatar m tn Your First Visit Your should call and schedule your first examination during the first 6 to 8 weeks of your pregnancy, or when your menstrual period is 2 to 4 weeks late. Doing so now helps your health care provider estimate the duration of your pregnancy and predict your delivery date. During your first visit, you can expect to have a full physical, including a pelvic and rectal examination.

Avatar m tn I also get cramping to my abdo during exercise, similar to period pain. Sometimes the pain goes into my lower back / kidney area. I have got this for years. Not neccessarily after long bouts of exercise but after short intense bursts. I have seen many doctors and none of them have any idea what it is. I am fit and regularly keep well hydrated. I willI document my fluid intake and exercise and test this dehydration theory anyway, will let you know how i go.
Avatar f tn I have not had a menstrual period in 18 months. I have had hot flashes, night sweats and a small bit of weight gain. Last month the hot flashes seemed to have stopped along with the night sweats. I am sleeping better and then just yesterday I notice I am having a little bit of bleeding. It feels like a period. Just very lite. I have called my dr and I am going to be seeing him next week. I have had a lot of stress, family stress going on in my life.
Avatar n tn now I notice it's really bad right before I'm supposed to start...and then during my period...and then just when I think I'm back to normal...it's that time of the month again and it starts all over again....glad to know I'm not alone.
