Common Questions and Answers about Exercise bike

Avatar f tn I had a defibrillator put in in April, 2008. I wanted to purchase an exercise bike, but the bike information pamphlets say they use powerful magnetic resistance. Are they safe to use, as I have read some warnings about magnets with an ICD? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hi everyone, what are your thoughts on riding a bike in the park if I'm 5 weeks preggo?
746818 tn?1233947962 Curious to see what everybody does with bike riding. When I ride, I ride about 3 miles at an average speed of 10mph. This doesnt take me long at all, but I find myself not able to push another pedal because I am so tired. P.S. I have a bad knee (doc says that my knee cap goes in and out of place everytime I bend it, so bike riding can get a little painful if I am too strenuous with it).
Avatar f tn I personally think it has a lot more to do with diet rather than the kind of exercise one is doing. But with that said, I do varied amount of cardio exercise to keep it mixed up. Some days I hit the tread mill, some days the bike, some days the eliptical machine and some days I'll do a good amount of 2 of the 3. Are you incorporating weight training into your program?
Avatar m tn a couple days ago I rode my bike down a hill to get somewhere. where i was going doesn't matter. what happened is. there is a strange divider on a four way. and in order not to hit a caroI had to swerve off into one. I flipped over my bike when it hit the curb right onto my neck.
Avatar f tn Can you ride on a stationary bike while pregnant? I know you can do moderate exercise and I know that regular biking is out of the question because of all the bumps and jostling. But I would think stationary bike would be fine? I want to keep my thighs toned (NOT trying to lose weight but just stay healthy and in shape). Any thoughts?
Avatar n tn I am 6 wks pregnant and I did a 15 mole long bike ride along with other cyclists. Is that safe? Or should I lay back from bike riding in my 1st trimester?
1834324 tn?1322144704 I swam a lot during the second and third trimesters of my first pregnancy and have been doing a lot of stationary bike exercise recently this time around. I have found both great - I've just switched to the bike since I can ride at home, which is easier to fit in than going to a pool with one kid at home already. I think the bike will get harder as my tummy grows more though. I've heard great things about yoga!
Avatar f tn I have been riding the bike ( the stationary bike) and been doing that at therapy. Also something that help with with my last baby was bouncing on a ball or sitting on a chair that was low to the ground.
Avatar f tn What kind of excercising are okay to do during pregnancy? Any moms exercise during there whole pregnancy?
Avatar f tn Walking, swimming, yoga, bike riding........
Avatar f tn I just stick to walking... whether its outside or on a treadmill. You can go bike riding as well. Squats, lunges... simple stuff. Don't do anything where you are putting strain on your body or where you won't be able to catch your breath.
Avatar f tn i have fibromyalgia and arthrits and need to lose weight what exercise should i do
Monkey Right at present I only have a exercise bike available to me and we generally have not nice winters for walking. Cold does not bother me but worry about the ice so my question is this. Will it be beneficial for me to just use the bike on days when cannot walk, is that going to help with my weight and exercise program.
Avatar f tn I am wondering what you guys do for exercise with Cm and syringomelia. My Dr said to walk or swim. I bought a bike, the recumbent type. The first time I used it the next day I have severe headaches, "migraine" worthy. Any chance this is a coincidence?
Avatar n tn There's walking, bike riding and pregnancy yoga. All are safe to do. I've recently started going on 30 minute walks a few times a week.
Avatar f tn With a bit of a tricky start I'm now hoping everything is ok but I want to do some exercise to try and tone up a little I know you can use a stationary bike but has any one used a cross trainer at a steady pace?
Avatar f tn i walk miles every day right up to the day before baby boy arrived at 42weeks. you can cycle on a stationary exercise bike, they recommend you don't go on a normal bike cause your balance is affected while pregnant.
4311875 tn?1352633763 Now I'm scared to ride, but I go to Y once/twice a week and ride stationary bike. Can't fall off that one. Do what you want until it becomes impossible is my advice.
1237562 tn?1360993180 I want to buy new Recumbent Bike with my few friends recently so I am funding more information about this bike for exercise step by step.
232264 tn?1191252080 While in detox I used the exercise bike a few times. One night I impressed myself and went ten miles. Yea yea not much to some of you but to me it was huge. I hate exercising and havent in years. Theres a gym at my bf's apt weve been to twice in the last three days...But both of us being in our first 11 days were still a bit weak and outta shape.
Avatar f tn Thanks for sharing ladies. I was walking/jogging recently and plan to continue. I also have a stationary bike and am used to doing weights and elipiticalat the gym. Good luck going forward!
12693075 tn?1442249992 use the stationary bike every week. My goal is 10 miles a week. I was doing more pre pregnancy. I didn't exercise much in my 1st trimester because I was so tired. My 2nd trust is almost over and I'm hoping I can keep exercising! I also use free weights fir my arms and some machines. I don't do more than 25lbs but make up for it with more reps! Exercise is good for endurance! Im hoping my delivery goes well because ive stayed active!
Avatar f tn Hey! What are you guys doing for exercise? I ran a half marathon first week of December and my LMP was Dec 24. I normally run or do t25 but haven't run yet since I found out and am doing t25 more modified. What about you guys? Any recommendations by your drs?
483733 tn?1326802046 While playing the waiting game to hear how they are going to treat my issues, is it OK to exercise? I'm not a normally active (exercise wise) person. I don't want to do anything that would cause cysts to burst or twist. What do you think?
Avatar n tn I am on pindolol and did take that 2 hrs before exercise and ate breakfast before exercise.
Avatar n tn 5K swim, 40K bike, 10K run) The cardiologist responded that I should exercise as long as it was comfortable, but not to exert myself too much. He advised me not to do the triathlon. I have a stress echo done every year, and do very well. In addition, I have no symptoms. My research does not seem to support what this physician recommends. Any advice?
