Evista and reclast

Common Questions and Answers about Evista and reclast

evista

Avatar f tn I have taken fosamax and actonel and have had stomach problems and aching bones. My doctor is thinking about the yearly injection of reclast. How safe is it and will I have more problems with my bones aching - I can't sleep at night a lot from the pain. Avatar f tn I am no longer taking Evista, but while doing some research to see if I wanted to go back on it for my osteopenia, I found some references to a correlation between Evista and ovarian cancer and wondered if that could have had a bearing on my case. 89592 tn?1391274422 the issues I worry about with the reclast is that it can cause afib and kidney issues. the med stays in your system for a full year and if there is a problem with it, there is no antidote. My dr is worried about a fall or broken hip. This would be my 3rd reclast infusion. My last dexa showed a 2% improvement. I've been hearing stories on med groups of people having issues with walking, still in a wheelchair after the infusion.
Avatar n tn t know that you should be taking evista and tamoxifen together , but the evista is definitely not a estrogen receptor. And who knows, maybe with them both it will help ward off further cancer problems. Just be careful because both can cause blood clots -- ask about taking lose dose (81 mg) aspirin or 1 mg warfarin to prevent the risk of clots. P.S. I am in the middle of treatment for another recurrence -- the evista didn't prevent an ovarian recurrence....
Avatar n tn Hi, Hair loss in a known but not highly common side effect of Evista. If you do a search: "Evista and hair loss" you will find numerous references to this side effect. This link: http://www.ehealthme.com/ds/evista/hair+loss indicates that as of Sep. 15, 2013, 17,635 people were reported to the FDA to have side effects when taking Evista. Among them, 259 people (1.47%) have Hair Loss. Time on Evista when these people had hair loss: < 1 month 4.35% 1 - 6 months 4.
248382 tn?1274938634 I have done all 3 therapies, Peg-Intron,Infergen,and Pegasys(102 weeks).I could clear for 5 or 6 mths. on therapy and then it would blast me again. The Hep C has brought along Neuropathy, Cryoglobulinema, and Vasculitis. I have taken 4 infusions of Rituxin,(which is the normal dosage to begin with)),hoping to control the cryo and they are now having me take 1 infusion treatment of Rituxin, every 3 mths. So possibly the Reclast is a maintainence therapy also?
Avatar m tn Has anyone heard of taking Tamoxifen or Evista as a possible step in breast cancer prevention? My doctor has suggested it because I'm in a high risk category. I'm not sure what to do.
Avatar f tn Tamoxifin can cause blood clots and uterine cancer. Evista is a little better in the side effects I believe, however everyone is different. I also have ADH(atypical ductal hyperplasia) and it increased my risk from 1.6 to 3.2 which is doubled, so I am considering the same thing. I am also having pathology reviewed by yet another lab to be sure it is not DCIS, which I am sure the other pathology report is no doubt correct. The best thing for you to do is to research. Then make your decision.
Avatar n tn Reclast is an injection to retard the progression of bone loss caused by osteoporosis and osteopenia, both of which, makes me vulnerable for bone fractures (not to mention pain) even without an injury. Some people have experienced arrythmia as a side effect of the reclast injection. I have atrial fibrillation which is an arrythmic problem that can produce a stroke or heart attack, if not corrected.
Avatar m tn Hi, I posted once before a couple months ago. This question isn't directly thyroid related, however I would certainly be grateful if you could comment to the best of your ability. 3 years ago I began having a constant headache and a bone tumor was found in the frontal bone of my head. I had a nuclear bone scan and I was diagnosed with monostotic fibrous dysplasia of the skull.
Avatar n tn He said that I am at high risk for bc (despite breastfeeding and full-term pregnancies before age 30 and onset of menstruation at age 13 and menopause at 52 and healthy weight, etc.) and that going forward I should be tested every six months with MRI and mammogram, alternately. He also said an oncologist would later discuss prophylactic treatment with tamoxifen or evista (I have osteopenia, and he said evista can be beneficial for that). I am very frightened and anxious.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm ok, but I think about this every day since I found out. It bothers me more than I thought it would. I have no known family history, but my mother died at 60 from complications from uterine cancer. I am post menopausal. When I was 49 my husband died and my periods just stopped suddenly and I had only hot flashes. But they were often and I would get drenched at work. So I took Prempro. I never stopped taking it because every time I tried the flashes came back.
Avatar f tn I know that the early hysterectomy has caused my bone issues(been on Fosamax and actually just started Reclast this week -2.7) but I wonder if it is effecting the breast? I went in for my annual mamo last week and have been called back yet again. New spot directly under the nipple, same breast. Sheduled US for next week. So two mamos and 2 call backs...I am nervous..is this common, should I be worried, is this what I have to look forward to every year...
600561 tn?1326845621 Just after breakfast seems so bizarre that I concentrate on that. Sometimes in the afternoon I am tired and I do rest so that is not terribly unusual.
Avatar f tn How long should a woman stay on Evista if no negative side affects?
Avatar f tn I know that the liver processes all drugs and reading the side effects is scaring me. I have stage 2 fibrosis and failed the traditional interferon/ribavirin treatment already.
Avatar f tn I had a bad reaction to Fosamax with severe digestive upset. Worse reactionwith Reclast;extremely swollen right leg especially around knee joint - could not even bend knee, terrible hip pain and two days later a tooth abscess. What are the chances I can tolerate Boniva once a month? My Endocrinologist wants me to try it.
Avatar f tn I had estrogen positive stage 2 breast cancer eight years ago. I had my overies and breasts removed because I have a family history of breast cancer. I' m currently taking Evista and my estrogen level is the same as a mans. Am I out of the woods yet?
Avatar f tn 0 and TT4 around 4.5). Each SAT occurance, my iodine uptake was initially zero and TPO and thyroglobulin antibodies negative. I was diagnosed with osteoporosis 2 years ago with Dexascan results having Z-scores slightly below -2.5. Recently I have been experiencing vague symptoms (fatigue, dry skin and hair, brain fog, etc.) that I attributed to recent menopause but my thyroid tests revealed the following: TSH = 4.24 (0.34-5.60) FT4 = 0.64 (0.62-1.12) TT4 = 3.9 (4.5-12.
Avatar f tn Are you talking about an infusion with Prolia or Reclast? I have had 4 Prolia infusions(injections) over the past 2 yrs. I am on a Medicare Advantage Plan and the only way I could get it covered was to go to the infusion clinic and have it covered under Medicare PART B. It is very important if you have Medicare to specify PART B because it is covered differently.
Avatar f tn You and I were diagnosed at about the same time. I am worried for myself too. I agree with you that ovca doesn't usually go to the bones. I guess it can happen, but not as common. My recurrence is on the liver, the stomach, small bowel and implants throughout the abdomen. I am on chemo again and will be done in 3 weeks to see if it helped. The women here on this forum have helped me along so much. I hope you find comfort here too. Are you on treatment of any kind for the lung mets?
710547 tn?1295446030 My recent dexa showed a t score of -3.9 average. I had an infusion of Reclast a year ago, but due to hyperparathyroidism, can't take it anymore. I had severe bone pain afterward though and am very concerned about prolia. If I do nothing though, I'm headed to hip fracture. My dad, aunt, and grandmother all had hip fracture. I have MS and severe degenerative spinal condition, so don't need any additional problems.
492490 tn?1255405372 There are also stage III clinical trials for Ovature out there to make you sensitive to platin again -- my doctor also keeps talking about Navelbine as a possible alternative treatment, although my research showed it mainly is used for small cell lung cancer. The Femara, Evista, and Arimidex and Tomoxifen are all used to try to stall the need for chemo again, but don't make anything go away, they just slow it down if the do anything at all,.
Avatar m tn I have recently received my blood test results from the doctor...She told me to cut down on fats in my diet... The outside of range, results are; Lymphocytes 48 Glucose 110 Cholesterol 228 Triglyceride 214 Hdl cholesterol 33 non hdl 195 Ldl Calc 152 VLDL Chol 43 Chol HDL Ratio 6.
Avatar m tn Recently I saw a new ENT who recommended bisphosphonates therapy and referred me to an endocrinologist for this and he told me if this doesn't work talk to him about an endoscopic operation. He said that a Reclast infusion may help me, or Fosamax. Please tell me what you know about this. I worry about 2 things right now-- what if the bone tumor is something else and not fibrous dysplasia, and the bisphosphonates make it worse by causing a more heavy calcification?
Avatar f tn It is very low in many women with bc, and perhaps also other cancers, and mine was. It causes weakness and achiness as well.
Avatar n tn hi this is my mums condition thats why im unable to give you the names of the tablets the main cause is 4 weeks ago she started on hormone tablets for breast cancer ,this is her 1st week on radiotheraphy,at the end of the week she has started with servere pains in the groins of her legs and has been unable to get out of bed cause she cant walk and if she trys to stand up she says it feels like her insides are going to fall out.
