Avatar n tn I went up there and took her to the doctor and she was basically told is was a stomach virus (gastroenteritis) drink plenty of fluids and it should go away in a couple of days but when I look up Gastroenteritis it says that it's common in people with weaken immune system caused by HIV. She took her 3 month birth control shot the morning before but I'm sure that didn't cause Gastroenteritis. My question is should I be concerned about HIV at this point.
Avatar f tn i think that she needs a liver biopsy. patients suffering from acute liver failure may develop a plasma cell hepatitis like autoimmune hepatitis. This is not true rejection but might require increased immunosuppression. i presume that imaging studies have not revealed a stricture.
Avatar n tn I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation? This leaves me wiped out for a couple of days with tenderness in stomach and right abdomen.

Avatar n tn MRI of Brain Ventriculomegaly, somewhat out of proportion to the amount of atrophy present. The radiologist did question if there were symptoms to suggest normal pressure hydrocephalus. Small vessel ischemic disease. No acute infarcts. a. The neurologist performed a lumbar puncture to remove some of the spinal fluid that he thought may explain his headaches....but not his dizziness. Because my husbands headaches returned after 5 - 6 hours.....
Avatar f tn Assuming the symptoms are acute, this is likely to be a case of viral gastroenteritis. You could try taking plenty of fluids to keep yourself adequately hydrated and some OTC anti spasmodics for the pain. If the pain is severe, of you have dizziness or blood in stools or the diarrhoea does not seem to get better in 4-5 days, it is advised to see a primary care physician for an accurate diagnosis and appropriate management. Hope this helps. Take care!

Avatar n tn ve seen, unless the symptoms have just gone undetected for a period of time and they progress (from bulbar to limbs or vice versa) you do not all of a sudden present with extreme bulbar and multi-limb symptoms. Post-viral is REAL and can cause all of these symptoms and more with an acute onset impacting multiple body systems. Are you having any other symptoms? My understanding of post-viral is that it can take months or even years to recover.
Avatar m tn This classic pattern of migratory pain is the most reliable symptom of acute appendicitis. Vomiting may then occur, in contrast to the repeated bouts of vomiting that typically accompany viral gastroenteritis or small bowel obstruction. Fever then usually occurs, followed by the development of an elevated white blood cell count. Of course not all patients present this way. For example, not all patients lose their appetite.
Avatar f tn It could also be food intolerance, both food allergy and food intolerance can cause symptoms of nausea, vomiting or abdominal pain.
