Avatar f tn I have never heard of MI being a contraindication to taking estrogen (in transdermal form anyway - such as a patch or gel). Transdermals do not have the clotting risk that oral forms do.
Avatar m tn Hi, I'm prescribed a lidoderm 5% patch, which is basically a patch infused with lidocaine. It helps with the nerve/muscle type pain I have in the lower left leg facing outward. By itself, for bad pain it wouldn't be worth the money, but I'm prescribed Lortab 10/650's ( a narcotic ) and the two used together seem to help lower this pain better than either one treatment alone.
Avatar f tn I have been on estrogen replacement since my surgery in 1998. I still have moderate-severe hot flashes and they seem to be getting more intense with age. I switched from oral Premarin which covered me pretty well but I didn't want to be taking pills the rest of my life. Since then I have tried a variety of patches that are really not very effective on a regular basis and very expensive. At my age, what do you recommend. Is Premarin dangerous (risk of DVT).
Avatar m tn m on the Vivelle dot (estradiol transdermal system) 0.0375 mg/day, which is an estrogen patch. That stopped my hot flashes in the first week. I'm also on a compound pharmacist's version of Prometrium (progesterone). My doctor didn't want me to use a progesterone cream but the pharmacist has actually told me that I can cut the capsules in half and spread the oil/cream on the inside of my arm. (This is something that I just found out yesterday) http://www.prometrium.
Avatar n tn Why are you going to use them? I'm having a hard time finding anything on men using them, but I'm going to post some things that may be relevant. Why anyone shouldn't use progesterone - Liver tumors Genital cancer Breast cancer Severe arterial disease Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding Acute porphyrias Idiopathic jaundice Severe pruritus occurring during pregnancy Pemphigoid occurring during pregnancy https://www.medicalnewstoday.
1466208 tn?1286663962 It works like a patch and goes in thru the skin (transdermal), so I could stop treatment if I had some sort of reaction. I had difficulties with oral doses of the Pueraria Mirifica so I had to find a way around oral doses, hence my transdermal treatments. I believe Pueraria Mirifica is in the soy family but completely different species. I can not use soy but can use the PM. Did you find my website on my profile page??? My whole story and info about my treatment can be found on my website.
Avatar f tn No side effects but I am not sure that it is doing anything for me. It is an MAOI transdermal patch. It requires a restrictive diet or you can go into a hypertensive crisis.

Avatar m tn com) As for my experience with transdermal fentanyl, when I used that patch, I found them effective to 2 days only, after only 3-6 months of use. For me, the problem with transdermal fentanyl was a rapid development of opioid tolerance. Within 18 months of use, my dose had gone from 25 to 100 ug, and I needed another adjustment upward. Instead of doing that, my doc and I chose to use another long-acting opioid medication. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn I have been wearing the patch for ~2 hours at this point and have some decent relief. I am suppose to leave the patch on for 72 hours as most patients. If I at any point feel nausea (or any reason) and want to remove is that ok? I only get ten a month and for some reason as of now my insurance company wont cover the fentanyl. They are very expensive ~120-140$. If I decided to take it off can I remove and store in plastic bag until a later time. It could be a few hours or the next day.
Avatar f tn I just recently started using the Nicotine Transdermal Patch to help me quit smoking. I made the mistake of not reading the entire information slip before starting it. Right now I am on the 21 mg patch, and I have been smoking a little here and there after taking off the patch. I have a severe headache, I am nausious, my lungs feel like their closes up, which is making my asthma worse, and now I have a pain in my right arm. Is this a sign of a nicotine overdose? If so, what should I do?

Avatar n tn Sometimes a transdermal testosterone patch will help by increasing the number of red oxygen carrying blood cells, but this has it's drawbacks.
1937645 tn?1324236061 t mention the transdermal patch...she could indeed be allergic to it, many humans can become very irritated by a medicated patch..... I have a full day out with appts etc today but I will try and find some reading about that for you later. In the meantime it wouldn't hurt to ask your Vet as well. post me back and tell me the name of the patch...and I'll get back to you later today or tonight...
Avatar n tn I have been on the Mylan Brand patch now for 7 years, just recently changed to the Johnson&johnson brand due to having no insurance, because the Mylan were $270 per month and the J&J are at no cost to me. I'm having a hard time finding this brand in any drug store in my area. I live in Southern Maine, South Berwick, Maine to be exact. Do you know what pharmacies in my area have this brand of Fentalyn Tr. P 75 mcg? Thank you, M.
Avatar f tn The patch had been replaced approximately 24 hours prior. She has been on the Fentanyl Patch (100 mcg) for about 3 years and uses a tegaderm patch over it to hold it in place. It was on her stomach. She always places the patches on her stomach or upper arm in a fatty area. This is the 4th ER visit in the past 12 months due to withdrawals. Why is her body not absorbing the medication?
Avatar f tn Estrogen causes some of the glands in the breast tissue to swell .Birth control patch causes consistent release of estrogen which causes elevated estrogen levels throughout the body making the breasts become larger. If you are too concerned it will be best to discuss it with your gynecologist. I hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
778044 tn?1299542934 I have a question for anyone using the Ortho Evra Patch to help control their endometriosis. It says right on the box that you are exposed to 60% more estrogen using the patch then other birth control pills. Since estrogen "feeds" endometriosis, how does this make sense? I have been advised by my doctor after 6 months of Lupron injections, to use the patch consistantly (not having a patch off week and not getting a period) until we are ready to get pregnant.
429647 tn?1249753429 my ttumor was tested and it was estrogen positive i am on an estrogen blocker.. how about asking your doc if the tumor was estrogen positive or not.
16987687 tn?1452840673 saddle distribution of the pain, Weakness of leg or legs, inability to hold bowels or urine, loss of extremity muscle control. What brand of transdermal patch?
Avatar f tn The only 7 day patch I know of is the Butrans patch. Buprenorphine (butrans) is Suboxone. It's normally used for addiction recovery but it looks like they're using it in low doses for pain management in the patch. This is what I found on it from Wikipedia. "Available buprenorphine formulations include a 5, 10 and 20 mcg per hour, 7-day patch, marketed as Butrans in the U.S.A.
