Avatar f tn s my understanding that melanoma is primarily caused by skin damage received from sunburns as a child. I think our number one precaution in preventing skin cancer is monitor ourselves very closely and to make regular visits to the dermatologist. Avoiding sunburns at any age is always wise but unfortunately the damage done in childhhood is the one thing we can't change. I have a mole that matches your description completely. I have had it checked many times.
Avatar f tn Hello, The problem of enlarged pores on face or facial pores is commonly associated with excessive oiliness and acne. The excessive oiliness of the skin is in turn triggered by the hormonal changes in the body. Large pores can be easily dealt with proper cleansing and frequent toning and moisturizing of the skin. Other treatments to consider include microdermabrasion, skin resurfacing lasers and chemical skin peels.
Avatar n tn Currently manufacturers of skin products have been trying to provide a wide array of skin care products to suit each skin type. For an individual to get the best skin care, one should follow a particular regimen of cleansing, toning , exfoliating and moisturizing. As one grows older however, exfoliation may damage the thinning skin. Cleansing and moisturizing are still essential as one ages. The use of sunscreen for the face is still a must.

You can take some OTC oral antihistamine medications like Benadryl or Claritin and see if it helps. Also use mild steroid cream and good quality moisturizers to prevent moisture loss from the skin. If still the symptoms do not improve then please get a clinical examination done by a dermatologist.
Avatar f tn Hello, You can use any of these regimens as both are meant for aged skin. The second regimen is a complete skin care program and is beneficial. I hope it helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing. Kind regards.
Avatar n tn A product that irritates your skin in general will likely make your melasma worse. Soaps: Some scented soaps are thought to cause or worse melasma. Tanning beds: The UV light produced by tanning beds damages your skin just as bad as the UV light from the sun, and sometimes worse.
Avatar f tn I have been getting dark blotches on my face, mostly on my cheeks and upper lip. They are darker than my skin color and are not going away. Not sure what they are, is it sun damage or something else. The discoloration on my upper lip is what bothers me the most. Please help!!
Avatar f tn Just to be sure, get your thyroid tested. Sometimes a drop in estrogen also causes a change in the thyroid. Keep hydrated, also, and use good skin cream.
Avatar f tn A phantom sensation of ants or other insects crawling on their skin is a sign of low estrogen. Taking phytoestrogen (mimics estrogen) supplements such as soy, black cohosh, ginseng, or red clover can help. Full effects can take a few months to kick in. You can find phytoestrogen supplements at health food stores and pharmacies.
Avatar n tn Does anyone happen to know if there has been a connection with too much estrogen causing more neuropathy pain?? Anyone experience the onset of neuropathy after a hysterectomy? I would appreciate any info.
Avatar m tn Hello, The changes in your areolas are caused by the increase of blood volume and circulation. Additionally, the increase of estrogen and progesterone also causes skin pigmentation that may also attribute to the darkening. This is true in pregnancy or any hormonal changes in the body. So you need to check out both of these. It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided.
Avatar n tn I was low in Estrogen and really low in Progesterone. In a few months it went away. Progesterone converts to Estrogen if your body needs it.
Avatar n tn Lobular means that the abnormal cells start growing in the lobules, the milk-producing glands at the end of breast ducts. Carcinoma refers to any cancer that begins in the skin or other tissues that cover internal organs — such as breast tissue. In situ or “in its original place” means that the abnormal growth remains inside the lobule and does not spread to surrounding tissues. People diagnosed with LCIS tend to have more than one lobule affected.
Avatar f tn It works by blocking the enzyme aromatase (found in the body’s muscle, skin, breast and fat) which is used to convert androgens (hormones produced by the adrenal glands) into estrogen. By eliminating estrogen, cancer cells that have positive estrogen receptors cannot grow. Side effects are certainly not pleasant to anyone, but it has been proven that Arimidex can lower considerably a cancer recurrence. Best wishes to both you and your mom.
Avatar f tn Hives (medically known as urticaria) are red, itchy, raised areas of skin that appear in varying shapes and sizes. They have a tendency to change size rapidly and to move around, disappearing in one place and reappearing in other places, often in a matter of hours. Many cases of hives are "idiopathic," meaning no cause is known. Others may be triggered by viral infections or medications.

2065676 tn?1331422440 I'm not entirely certain what your question is however I can only say I *wish* it didn't matter what we put on our skin topically and only mattered what we ingest however there is no way to predict either and it is quite often both. Having said that, I have had a few irritations here and there and while I can't exfoliate as often because my skin is not exactly as resilient; there is no way I could ever not exfoliate.
429647 tn?1249753429 only to find out that her cancer is estrogen postive and probably caused or in some part aided in the growth of her masses. This is a very touchy subject on this forum, and as much as I love and adore Mary, she and I are on opposite sides on this one. Flashes are horrid, I will agree that I have had a really tough time with them as well as the other symptoms of menopause....but, you know what....I am alive. Gather all the facts you can....best of luck.
