estrogen and wellbutrin

I am new to this forum, and new to the world of menopause. I recently had my last ovary removed due to cysts and endometreosis. I did not want to go through menopause or life with no estrogen at age 35, so I opted for the estrogen hormone therapy. I chose to go with the Estradiol patches. I think that it regulates the estrogen more efficiently and you can't forget to take a pill! Let me give you my two cents on your issues...know that I am not a dr., but am going through this myself.

I don't know for sure about adderall but I'm pretty sure that anti-depressants like prozac do lower your sex drive. I think Wellbutrin is one though that is not supposed to have that side effect. Hopefully between that and the patch you'll get to feeling normal again soon. I wish you luck.

Been on prozac since March dr messed with dose till finally by late June i went to 50 mg...im also on wellbutrin,well weight gain and other problems dr said to cut back on prozac 10 mg a week,been doing that im down to 30 mg but i have bad depression like when i first began prozac,i was added a estrogen patch this past friday,i have no energy and im tired all the time..

Hi, Have you done a complete hormone testing including thyroid hormones, and levels of estrogen, prolactin and cortisol; and were they within limits? Are you very slim or highly obese? Very high or very low estrogen levels can affect libido. Also, balanced food intake is very important. Not sure if the long term use of anti anxiety drugs would have affected the nervous system. Sorry not able to give any specific suggestion.

im doing ok feel abit anxious but im on xanax also and wellbutrin..im wondering if the wellbutrin alone will help the depression..has anyone had sucess with that.i was also recently put on the estradiol hormone patch...i want a sex life and happiness..

I final got on Armour and trying to figure out how to take it with the other meds that I take. I take estrogen and iron as well as a wellbutrin. I have been taking Armour sublingual, my question is can I take the other meds at the same time since they are being swallowed?

Recently my Dr. recommended that I switch from Lexapro (called Lexamil where I live) to Wellbutrin to reduce unwanted side effects of Lexapro. I have been taking Lexapro for 5 years now (10 mg daily). She said to taper off of Lexapro in two weeks, first taking 1/2 a tablet each day to 1/2 a tablet every other day while introducing a tablet of Wellbutrin 150 mg. each day during this process.

Any suggestions to minimize it at this time? I am not taking any medications and would prefer to stay off. I tried Wellbutrin and the side effects were worse than any benefit from it.

My doctor, what I've read by other doctors, and my personal experience is that bipolar people (men and women) in general should only take ADs with great caution. Every AD I've taken (TCAs and SSRIs) except Wellbutrin have caused me to cycle rapidly and precipitate mixed states and [hypo]manias. I'm good on a mood stabilizer alone.

Following the 1st two months of the surgery i was on bioidentical hormones, .025 (i think) of two kinds of estrogen and 50mg of progesterone. When I ran out...i didnot refill as I had mixed concers about HRT. I found, per web searching, that some people get migraines from wellbutrin. Is that true? I am so hopeful because I used wellbutrin in my past and it was wonderful for me. I was at the denial stage of my illness and quit taking it, but now I understand I need my medication to live a normal life. I was also having terrible headaches then and I have them better under control due to my taking magnesium daily. Therefore I do not know if it was the wellbutrin aggrivating my headaches or not.

I am currently taking 15 mg of valium a day and just started 100 mg Wellbutrin a day for severe anxiety. The only information I read is that Wellbutrin is for Depression, is this also a medication to help with anxiety?

Bio-identical means the same as your body makes and it is perfectly safe, not like the synthetic rubbish. You are no doubt estrogen dominant, and this can cause all the symptoms you wrote. I do not like synthetic hormones, they are dangerous and estrogen is one of the worse. I would also get off the mood altering drugs and go on a good, food grade B vitamin, Standard Process labs is awesome, the ingredients are pure and made from organic food.

I was recently put on wellbutrin and xanax. I had been having severe anxiety attacks. In the past I've taken wellbutrin for depression but got off of it because I felt that was able to cope with my problems on my own without medication. It's been 3 years since I've last taken it and when I took it before I don't remember getting perscribed xanax. So, my questions is...

I would switch gradually to Cymbalta and see what happens rather than being on both. As for the Wellbutrin added to the mix it could help with libido since dopamine is in play. Both Zoloft and Wellbutrin sounds like something you could try before getting on Cymblata. I don't think you shoud mix Cymbalta with Wellbutrin personally.

Thanks. Called the pharmacist and find Wellbutrin is a SSRI so taking the 5-HTP would not have a benefit. He said one would cancel out the other. Hmm...guess it is time to start riding the bike!

I do think if you keep going with Wellbutrin and Cymbalta you will be doing just fine. Wellbutrin might be unpleasant when taking the first doses, just like any other antidepressant but the side-effects will eventually go away as your body adapts to the medicines. If after 1 month taking both drugs you don't see any improvements then you might consider trying something else but seriously Cymbalta+Wellbutrin is really supposed to give you energy and make you function more normally.

I have been on 200 mg of Wellbutrin, and 20 mg of Prozac for many years. I have never known the connection between dopamine and a decreased TSH reading until today. Has anyone ever responded to the original questions posted in 2010? I am curious. I have been taking 300 mg Wellbutrin and 200 mg Topamax since May 2016 and have lost approx 30lbs. I wasn't aware of the side affects and my doctor said as long as I feel fine there is no reason to run tests. I just want to make sure others are having this same significant weight loss.

I have now been taking 150mg of Wellbutrin XL for about three months, and have noticed no imprvement. If anything, my libido has diminished even more. Since most people report a boost in sex drive with the Wellbutrin, I was wondering if I am just an atypical case, or if perhaps my dosage is not high enough to experience the improvement.
