Avatar m tn Hello bookgard, Night sweating could be related to infections, anxiety, and diabetes. The only way is to get tested. If you are sexually active and have been in a non-monogamous relationship. I would start getting tested for all STDs. Secondly diabetes may causes frequent urination and night sweats. Third an unbalanced hormones can be some of your symptons. Take care!
Avatar n tn Zeligs, MD As we age, many tissues in our bodies become chronically inflamed, resulting in an increased risk of weight gain, diabetes, and cancer. By aiding healthy hormone metabolism and assisting the body to recognize and eliminate stressed cells, we can reduce generalized inflammation and slow the progress of aging-related disorders.
Avatar n tn I didn't think to look in diabetes literature. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know if I find anything there.
Avatar f tn It would be good to know your estrogen and progesterone levels, to ensure your estrogen to progesterone ratio is right. What are you on now? Unfortunately standard Thyroid testing does not indicate Hypothyroidism type 2, which is similar to diabetes 2. The serum levels are fine, yet the thyroid function (in the cells) is low (thyroid resistance) For this you need Free T3, Free T4 AND Reverse T3 Cheers.
Avatar f tn Other possibilities are chronic fatigue syndrome, depression, poor sleep patterns, inadequate sleep, low Vit b12, low iron, low calcium, sodium and potassium. At your age it can also be due to low estrogen and menopause. In women polycystic disease of the ovary too should be ruled out as it causes insulin resistance and fatigue. A comprehensive investigation is required keeping all the points in mind. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps.
Avatar n tn 37 and going through a similar thing. I have PCOS and diabetes. But now my FSH is 0.9 and my LH is 0.4. I've easily gained 2 pants sizes this summer without any change to diet/exercise. I get randomly dizzy. I have a very hard time concentrating and even focusing my eyes. I'm tired ALL THE TIME and have strange muscle tightness/rigidity. My lower extremities swell sometimes so bad that my ankles/feet won't fit in my shoes. No one seems to know what's going on.
Avatar m tn Hair loss due to alcohol consumption is mainly due to the fact that alcohol affects the levels of estrogen and zinc in the body, which subsequently affect hair growth. Excessive drinking RAISES the level of estrogen, high levels of estrogen result in hair loss. Excessive drinking REDUCES zinc levels in the body. Zinc is essential for healthy hair growth. In addition, constant consumption of alcohol can also induce a lower level of vitamins B and C in your body.

Avatar f tn I don't have labs in front of me, but I've had hormone testing and my estrogen, progesterone, testosterone and growth hormones were all very low. I've also had an MRI that showed my pituitary gland was concave shaped, which my doc said is abnormal. I also never started a period and had to be put on hormones at 17 to start. I also was diagnosed with osteoporosis at 35. Growth hormones are made in the hypothalamus.
Avatar m tn She has had the treatment for the breast cancer, their might also be recommendation for some type of anti-estrogen treatment as well to further decrease her risk of recurrence as well. The use of hormone (anti-estrogen) treatment, and type of hormone treatment will be determined based on risks and benefits, as well as other factors such as her menopausal status and any other health issues. It is not clear as to why the hysterectomy is being recommended based on the above information.

Avatar n tn t know that you should be taking evista and tamoxifen together , but the evista is definitely not a estrogen receptor. And who knows, maybe with them both it will help ward off further cancer problems. Just be careful because both can cause blood clots -- ask about taking lose dose (81 mg) aspirin or 1 mg warfarin to prevent the risk of clots. P.S. I am in the middle of treatment for another recurrence -- the evista didn't prevent an ovarian recurrence....
