Avatar n tn I am on 200 mg prometrium /5 mg estradiol, and metformin as well as tirosint. The prometrium and estradiol is for hot flashes. The metformin for prediabetes, couldn't get my a1c down, and tirosint for thyroid disease. My question is this...the prometrium and estradiol are causing my blood sugars to stay high, as well as make me very tired, as well as making me gain weight. I walk briskly at least 1 hour to 1 1/2 hour daily. I watch what I eat, low sugars, etc.
18070169 tn?1463175914 Any time your estrogen level drops, you might get hot flashes or headaches. Not a big deal.

Avatar f tn I take estrogen patch & medroxyprogesteron pill &also I have hot flashes. I'm only 33yrs old.
Avatar f tn Hi. I'm not sure this is the right place for this question, but I'm sort of desperate. I've been experiencing hot flashes, hair loss, dry eyes, and irregular periods for about eight months. I'm only twenty-four, so these symptoms have been worrying me quite a bit. I visited my doctor in June, and he ordered a thyroid test. My results were completely normal. I shrugged everything off to stress and went on with my life. Unfortunately, the hot flashes became worse.
Avatar f tn Started having sever hot-flashes so my doctor put me on the Vivelle Dot. It took care of the hot-flashes but caused me to gain 10 pounds in a 6 week period. My doc said the weight gain was from menopause. Well, I took the patch off 2 weeks ago and threw it away, and I have now lost 6 of those pounds and feel much better. I think it was causing depressiont too. I have been on bio-identical hormones for a few years - progesterone cream and DHA cream - and have done fine.
Avatar f tn My estradiol went from less then 15 to 454. Not on any hormone therapy except for OTC Estroven. Hot flashes have stopped maybe because my estrogen has gone nuclear. Just had that level rechecked and waiting for results but doctor worried that something ovarian could be going on. Having a hard time finding any information on high estradiol levels. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn It can also cause abdominal pain, genital moniliasis, vaginitis and vaginal discomfort. It can also cause insomnia or hot flashes. Hence I suggest you to get this drug changed to some other estradiol tablets for atrophic vaginitis. I hope it helps. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I'm 33 y.o. with no period since March and with terrible hot flashes. My MD stated I could have POF. I am done with childbearing so what would my treatment be and why is he testing for Lupus?
527657 tn?1214051850 I am not entirely sure why they put you on estradiol for bleeding, it seems like they would put you on progesterone instead. But anyway, you might get a few hot flashes (though if you were already postmenopausal, maybe not) and possibly a headache.
Avatar f tn Hi, everybody. I've been experiencing hot flashes, hair loss, irregular periods, and dry eyes for several months. I had my hormone and thyroid levels tested twice, and, while everything technically came back normal, my estradiol (52 pg/ml) level concerns me. I've read that anything below the 50 pg/ml mark is not a good sign. Is this true? Does this number suggest that I'm in the early stages of premature ovarian failure, or are there other causes of low estradiol?
Avatar f tn I don’t use it no more . . I stop taking it sept 1 so no side effect like hot flashes . I just wanna know what gonna happened long term that’s all.
Avatar f tn I recently began HRT for my hot flashes and extreme sweats. they also affect my sleep. I have been taking them a week and see no relief. How long do they take to relieve symptoms??
Avatar f tn Hello: hoping somebody can help me. I have been on Premarin.625mg for 7 months and did very well. Before that, I had tried everything else with very little improvement. Before Premarin I was having hot flashes, anxiety, and terrible insomnia. After the first few days of taking Premarin, I began to notice great improvement. My hot flashes went away and insomnia disappeared. I had a few bumps along the way but then everything balanced out. Now, the old symptoms have returned with a vengeance.
709441 tn?1233340088 What is happening when I have hot flashes. They are bearable, I'm just curious what is going on. I had a tah on monday and started hot flashes that night.
577395 tn?1277401364 Hello, my daughter is 21. She first got her period when she was 11. Since then sometimes she has irregular priod - can skip a month or 2, or be late 2-3 weeks. About 2-3 moths ago she started getting hot flashes. i know that usually women who are in menopause age get it. I'm really worried - will she be able to get pregnant in future? Is it something serious? Please advise!!!!
Avatar n tn My thyroid levels all came back normal and I was taken off the thyroid med--my period came back a week later and lasted for 2 months. Now the hot flashes along with chills are back and my FSH and LH are in menopausal range. Am I really in menopause or is this a thyroid problem or both? Why would the hot flashes stop while on thyroid med? Thank you.
20803321 tn?1513921914 I also had a hysterectomy at that time. Estradiol and Gabapentin at the dose I am taking for hot flashes doesnt help this pain. What could be wrong? Thank you.

Avatar f tn My doctor has me on Estradial and I have been on it since my hysterectomy. In the last year, I would say that the symptoms including hot flashes, have been unbearable at times and have been more frequently and more severly. He has increased the dosage since and where the hot flashes are subsiding, the mood swings are now way out of control. Watching a commercial can literally send me into a complete crying tail spin.
Avatar n tn They sometimes last throughout my cycle-about 5-6 days. This has been going on for about three months. I also get hot flashes-not many, maybe one or two from the chest on up late in the evening. Is this normal or should I be worried? Thanks!!!!!
Avatar f tn I think the patches specifically say on the box that they don't do anything for hot flashes, though they supposedly keep the vagina pretty lubricated. I don't like Premarin because it comes from mare's urine. Have you talked to your doctor about a light dose of oral estrogen and some compounded progesterone capsules that can be inserted vaginally? Of course, this would mean taking the estrogen as a pill, but it could knock down the hot flashes.
589713 tn?1255699571 Once I got my dose of Estradiol increased and my script for localized Estrace (for vaginal use and it, too, is bio estradiol) then things improved dramatically. And, to be honest, prior to correcting this, it was not so much a problem for me as it was for him. But, I have had some bleeding on occasion from the dryness as well as more frequent yeast infections (also low estradiol related) as well as 'leaky bladder." (I know I have repeated myself here).
Avatar n tn I wear light clothes ALWAYS.....coffee, hot foods, alcohol...all those fun things only make things worse. For me. For you, things will be probably different a bit. I never got over the hot flashes, but most woman swear they eventually do....I just musta owed the fates some pay back or something because mine never went away.....(puts new meaning into "you're a hottie"!!!! Good luck, Hottie!!!
Avatar f tn I had my first estradiol and testosterone implants and am taking progesterone pills at night. My hot flashes have stopped and my libido has improved some, but I'm bloated like I've never been before-even when I had regular periods. I always exercise and try to eat healthy most of the time-but I've gained 5lbs. over the month- and it's all "jelly-belly" fat. My appetite is ravenous!
Avatar m tn I have been taking estradiol for 6 years and more recently bi-est. three months ago I had Pnemonia and even with using bi -est, I am having hot flashes and night sweats which has never happened to me on a constant basis. My husband thinks the pnemunia/fever rearranged my hormones and it will take awhile for them to settle down. I am 57 and was pretty stable on the bi-est. has this ever happened to anyone else?? Thx!
Avatar n tn The v'patch (Estradiol) works great for hot flashes and mood. I was on .o5 and it was not enough.. my legs where killing me! but i am now on two patches of .o5 and things are some better but not great yet. I tai chi'ed this morning which energized me.
