Avatar m tn I agree, if you are thinking of GC it is not a gram negative coccobacilli it is gram negative diplococci. They need to do a culture on you and figure out what you have. They are apparently treating you for the wrong thing.
Avatar n tn 0 gram of metronidazole (Flagyl) in addition to erythromycin. The reason for the recommendation is that a substantial proportion of men with NGU also have co-existent infection with trichomonas. Trichomonas is difficult to diagnose in men but can certainly be a cause of persistent discharge and symptoms. I suspect this will help. Good luck.
Avatar n tn erythromycin, metrodonizol and suprax). I felt somewhat ill all week, but felt normal by Friday. On Sunday, April 28, I had unprotected vaginal sex. Should I be concerned that I transmitted anything to that partner? I understand the likelihood of my having anything is quite low (???), but lets say I did. Would the antibiotics have worked in that time frame? The internet tells me that I should wait 7 days after taking single dose antibiotics. I waited 6.
Avatar m tn Hi, further to my previous question about an encounter with a Thai csw I would value your advice. I asked the doctors but it seems my post was deleted and I don't know why, so I am asking here. I did urine tests and was negative for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. However there was gram positive cocci (few) present which the doctor has given me antibiotics for. Obviously given the context of all of this I am quite scared again.
Avatar m tn I´d like to have your opinion about different treatments for chlamydial eye infection. Treatments are Doxycycline 100mg, Azythromycin 1g, Erythromycin ointment, Chlortetracycline ointment and Azythromycin drops. Could you please evaluate them using different criteria such as efficacy againts chlamydia, tissue penetration, duration of treatment, side effects? Condition is unilateral chlamydial conjunctivitis for more than 6 months causing eye tearing, corneal infiltrates, meibomitis, dry eye.
Avatar f tn But did show a little bit of gram positive cocci? What is gram positive cocci? I’ve been feeling a slight numbness and warm/cold feeling in my leg could it be caused by this? The nurse said there was only a little?
Avatar m tn This may infer it’s a Gram-positive bacterial strain or strains. I’ve used metronidazole with almost the same outcome. Saccharomyces boulardii (Sb) has been used in the medical world with other antibiotics against various bacterial strains with great success. I’ve use Amoxicillin with negative and worsening results on PATM but when combined with Sb, the result was unbelievably positive. Saccharomyces boulardii is known to secrete proteases (antitoxins) that counter some bacterial toxins.
Avatar f tn Borrelia is neither gram negative nor gram positive, but in the past, it was mistakenly thought to be gram negaive. Some old publications out there still call it gram negative (incorrectly). Here is a good biological description. http://textbookofbacteriology.net/Lyme.html Bartonella has been known to cause skin lesions. Have you been tested at IGeneX for it? You might want to get tested for both b.henselae and b.quintana (I don't know who offers tests b.quintana.
Avatar f tn 100000 mixed gram positive flora. Avatar f tn A week later I went to my gynecologist who ordered some more tests and came back positive for ureaplasma urealyticum. The doctor prescribed azithromycin and two and a half weeks weeks after finishing the treatment, a new test for ureaplasma came back positive again. My doctor ordered a basic antibiogram and it turns out that it has resistance for: tetracycline, doxycycline, erythromycin, azithromycin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin and clindamycin.
Avatar m tn We had to make the doctor send us for a sputum test which the gram stain showed moderate gram positive bacilli, moderate gram positive cocci, and few gram negative bacilli, as well as moderate wbc.
Avatar m tn As I browsed the net and read some articles, I have learned that gonorrhea is not gram positive cocci, it is gram negative. Prior to my sexual contact, I experienced a little similar to that like a little difficulty in urinating because I don't drink much water and I took a lot of supplements in the gym like creatine wherein I only learned lately that it can affect your kidneys or can cause UTI.
Avatar m tn The gram positive cocci is most likely normal bacteria that is present in the area where the swab was collected. Unless the doctor said you had an infection with a particular bacteria, it sounds like skin bacteria. He would have given you an antibiotic if he thought was abnormal. gram positive cocci normally live on skin and in various body sites. If you have further problems such as a very high fever I wouldn't worry about it.
