Avatar n tn Yes the medication could be causing erectile dysfunction. Not just the medication, but hypertension, diabetes, etc. can cause ED. The first step is to see if you can change your medication. If you have a heart condition and need to take nitrates you will not be able to take Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis.

Avatar m tn It is true that diabetes can cause erectile dysfunction but even people with prediabetes may experience erectile dysfunction (ED). This is because nerve damage can occur even before a type 2 diabetes diagnosis, when a person has prediabetes. Poorly managed blood sugar control can damage the blood vessels and nerves, including the blood vessels and nerves in the penis. This type of nerve damage can prevent a man from getting and sustaining an erection.

Avatar m tn Impotence or erectile dysfunction is common side effect after radical prostatectomy. The nerve sparing technique restores potency in men when tumor is localized. Of the two surgical techniques, these are nerve-sparing ones, unilateral prostatectomy can save the neurovascular nerve bundle and bilateral spares both. The erectile function returns in more than half who undergo the bilateral technique and about half for unilateral technique.
Avatar n tn Vacuum pumps can be effective for erectile dysfunction. However, they are not a long-term solution. The vacuum pump will force blood into your penis, and you typically have to use a penis ring to keep your erection. However, you should not use these rings for longer than 30mins at a time. Eventually, you erection will go away, and you will have to use the pump again.
Avatar n tn One thing that can happen is that you over expand the erectile tissue. This could cause the blood to leak out of the erectile tissue. This can result in the erection being softer than previous or even result in ED.
Avatar m tn A less invasive thing to try might be a penile vacuum erection device. A ring holds blood in the penis and keeps it erect that way. It can cause the veins to stay large, I believe, so there could be changes that may not be pleasing - I'm not sure. And the erection stops where the ring is - no deeper in the body, so it isn't stiff as deep as a normal erection. But you might want to try it by borrowing a device. The urologist I worked for lent them out.
Avatar f tn On a related subject, men with cirrhosis commonly have both lack of libido and erectile dysfunction (ED) because the liver is part of the system for processing both male and female hormones. Men and women have a balance of male and female hormones. With advanced liver disease the balance of hormones changes thus producing characteristics of the opposite sex. As the liver fails the processing of hormones also fails. In fact men with cirrhosis have higher amounts of female hormones.

Avatar m tn I asked a surgeon not to take out my lymph nodes. I started treating erectile dysfunction with an ED vacuum pump two months after the operation. Afterwards, I started taking Viagra, then Vitaros cream inserted into the urethra, and finally injected myself with Viridial Duo. Each of these treatments had side effects.
