Avatar f tn We went on a gluten free diet (foods that contain wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats) for other reasons, and realized we all got scalp relief - no more itching, crusting, etc. Food intolerances, like gluten and cow's milk foods, when not digested, allow yeast to overgrow. It causes yeast overgrowth in and on the body. Of course, sugar is another promoter of yeast. But the gluten free diet relieved all of our scalps about 95%. Only minimal symptoms left behind.
Avatar f tn dandruff is dry skin - you can rub lotion into your scalp
890634 tn?1241186679 I am limited in products that I can use because my Celiac Disease causes me to react to topical products that contain gluten, which is in most products for dandruff shampoo. My scalp is in terrible shape, and my hair is shedding way more than is normal. I do take vitamin supplements and fish oil daily. Please help! Thank you.

Avatar n tn Two of my kids had that rash. I put them on a gluten free diet for another reason and realized they both healed up around their noses. They haven't had a problem since then. I do not know if your rash will improve if you were to try the diet, but it's worth a shot if you feel like giving the diet a try. If you'd like to try it, just leave me a message and I'll help you with the diet.
9562964 tn?1416928231 Nizeral, polytar and t gell shampoo are all great for dandruff. You could try nioxin shampoo. You get a 3 part system. Nioxin cleanser , scalp revitaliser ( conditioner) and scalp treatment. It is designed for thinning hair but would help your dandruff aswell. It will unblock blocked follicles to aid hair growth and also make the hair you have look thicker and stronger.
Avatar n tn Hi, The best way to treat dandruff is to use a dandruff shampoo. Look for shampoos with ingredients such as zinc pyrithone, salicyclic acid, coal tar, selenium silfide, or ketoconazole. All of these ingredients have been shown to work on dandruff; to use the shampoo, apply it to your scalp and hair, rub vigorously, and allow it to sit for five minutes so that the ingredients can work before rinsing it out.

Avatar m tn Lately i have noticed i have dandruff, i heard of shampoo that gets rid of it, does anyone know any kind of shampoo or other thing that does, i have tried showering even More often then i do, which is alot, and it still doesnt go away, i want to get rid of it soon, only got it about a week ago. Thx for ur answers.
Avatar n tn With regards to your dandruff, daily washing with an antidandruff shampoo may help decrease oil and cell buildup. There are plenty of dandruff shampoo available in the market today. Not all dandruff shampoos are alike, so you may need to experiment with them to find the one that works best for you. When shampooing, it is important to rinse well. If it still persists, stronger prescription shampoos may be indicated. Take care and keep us posted.

Avatar f tn Hey Jay i have that same problem before but now i already dont have it my advice is just keep away your hands from ur scalp like what tushar said and when u take a bath use a shampoo That can remove dandruff like "Head and Shoulders" and when u take a bath after u shampoo just leave it for 5 mins so u can feel something cool in ur head and after that wet it and dry and whenever u comb ur hair do it slowly just dont do something that can remove ur dandruff just leave it on the shampoo s
Avatar n tn This is my third pregnancy and with my first two pregnancies my scalp got dry and I had dandruff during my pregnancy. This time my hair is so greasy! Is anybody else getting gross hair? So much for a pregnancy glo!!
Avatar f tn I have to constantly lotion and my face is always peeling.
Avatar f tn The only other thing I can think of besides what you tried is for you to use water free shampoo.
Avatar n tn It started out of the blue, my scalp became very itchy and I could not help scratching it, when I scratched it, what appeared to be white flakes of skin came off. I thought this was just normal dandruff so bought Anti-dandruff shampoo (over the years I have tried every Anti-dandruff shampoo you can think of, even stuff from my GP).
Avatar f tn Your doctor would be able to prescribe a specific shampoo for you. Or you can purchase from the pharmacy, without a prescription, a shampoo that will treat the dandruff and any fungal infection that is causing it. Always read the directions carefully how to use those shampoos. Normal dandruff is caused by a dry scalp. At home to help moisturise the scalp you can rub some baby oil or coconut oil. Coconut oil has antibacterial, antifungal and anti viral properties.
1305767 tn?1361192676 You may be reacting to the shampoo you use so you could ask your pharmacist what other shampoo might be of help but have a more mild effect. If that doesn't help improve things then it would be worthwhile to see a dermatologist.
1351676 tn?1301339436 Hello, I have just started to notice my black cat has got dandruff,. How do I treat this?
Avatar m tn Hi I've just found this forum and I'm delighted! I have to wash my hair EVERY day and by lunchtime it smells bad, more so on my scalp but my hair too! I've tried T-Gel, Nizorel, Vosene, Sulphur shampoo, anti dandruff stuff prescribed by the doctor (who actually didn't believe me, she clearly didn't get close enough!) and I'm starting to get paranoid, not to mention worried about the condition of my hair due to constant washing, drying straightening.
Avatar f tn Hello, I'm moving along slowly. I'm almost 7 weeks. Is dandruff normal? If So is there any way to get rid of it? Thanks.
Avatar f tn I breed toy poodles. I have three pups right now that arec10weeks and within the last 3 weeks I'm noticing more scratching in all three pups and hairless on their necks from scratching. No fleas. Vet has given them one dose of advantage once a week, their second treatment will be this monday. He thought MAYBE it could be walking dandruff but he says may not be as there's no dander full or flakey skin at all.
9571159 tn?1419571005 So I know pregnancy causes dry skin. Today I just noticed I have dandruff :( and my lips are chapped and they never are :( did y'all experience this?
Avatar n tn You can treat flaking and dryness with over-the-counter dandruff or medicated shampoos. Shampoo the hair vigorously and frequently (preferably daily). Active ingredients in these shampoos include salicylic acid, coal tar, zinc, resorcin, ketoconazole, or selenium. If the symptoms persist, then it would be best to get it confirmed from a dermatologist. Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing or if you have any additional doubts.
