Epogen for infants

Common Questions and Answers about Epogen for infants

neupogen

Avatar f tn I had absolutely no problems with epogen whatsoever. I took 40,000 two times a week and it got my HGB up to 10.5 or so and kept it there. You do not want to get higher than 12 that is where the black box warning comes in. But as for real side effects, I've never ever heard of anyone having any and I've been here for over six years!
1356964 tn?1302087435 Vet is suggesting epogen but I have read Epogen can have side effects and can quit working for an animal anywhere from 1-4 months of treatment. I am enquiring about an iron supplement to try first instead of injections, b/c her HCT has not follow under 20 as of yet . Vet said it was not at crucial stage as of yet so would an iron supplement be ok to try right now , of course with the ok of her vet ?
Avatar m tn Do you mean epogen when you say bone marrow stims, or did your doctor mean something else? I know some people get the riba dose lowered or take epogen for anemia or both but I don't know about adding boc. or tela. So far if the trial allowed epogen then fine but if the trial didn't allow it then the only option for really bad anemia is to drop the riba dose. Your anemia sounds like it was pretty bad so I guess have a plan in place in case it drops again. I think boc.
264121 tn?1313029456 Short of getting two different strengths of epo at the time, it was my only alternative. Since I will always have to be on epogen, its really helpful for me even now to be able to take 5k or 15k of epo instead of having to either take the full 20k or wasting the rest of the bottle, or storing it in a not so safe condition.
Avatar f tn Can we just discuss the pros and cons for daycare for infants as early as 6 weeks? Im still uncertain of daycare for my newborn.
Avatar n tn My father was diagnosed with Hepatitis C about a year ago. He's been in and out of the hospital for transfusions and is now on all kinds of medication. He thinks that he shouldn't worry us with any bad news, so he really doesn't tell us much about his visits and whatnot. I know that he has also been diagnosed with cyroglobinemia and now something with his thyroid. The medication he is on is Epogen 40,000, Neupogen singleject 480 mg and also ribavirin. That is all I know of.
Avatar n tn For many years, GER [Gastroesophageal reflux] during infancy and childhood was thought to be a consequence of absent or diminished LES tone [lower esophageal sphincter, which is sometimes also referred to as the Cardiac Sphincter due to its proximity to the heart]. However, studies have shown that baseline LES pressures are normal in pediatric patients, even in preterm infants.
Avatar f tn Hi everyone, I've followed a lot of conversations in the last year or so. My other half (Shirley) is on week 41 of treatment and feeling really unwell. Her latest bloods showed her white cells down to 9.2. She isn't getting a great service from the hospital but I am encouraging her to ask for Procrit which seems to be a big help.
Avatar f tn Virtually all patients will eventually require supplemental iron to increase or maintain transferrin saturation to levels which will adequately support erythropoiesis stimulated by EPOGEN®. All surgery patients being treated with EPOGEN® should receive adequate iron supplementation throughout the course of therapy in order to support erythropoiesis and avoid depletion of iron stores https://www.clevelandclinic.org/myeloma/Procrit_phaseII_less_frequent.htm "...
Avatar m tn Hi! My baby(female) is 6 days old and diagnosed with low TSH. The lab test results indicates that she only has 2.03 uIU/ml. The reference the hospital gave us is 2.4 - 40 uIU/ml. My question is, what is the actual/normal level of TSH for infants? What are the necessary steps to take? Thank you and best regards...
Avatar f tn i did opt for the rectal therm because it seems to be the most accurate for infants and i got the warm mist humidifier. do you think warm or cool is better? Ill make sure if I get the vapor rub its for infants!
Avatar f tn Thanks for the reply Mike....that's what I thought! I don't know why my NP would tell me such a thing. I'm wondering if my HGB being at 9.8 is much of a problem...also how low can it get before someone would need some helper meds pronto! best wishes...
Avatar f tn How low did your hemoglobin go? Did you use procrit or epogen? Sorry for all the questions but I have kept a spreadsheet and am always curious about who treated with what and why one person succeeds and another fails.
7381903 tn?1391464888 Already moms.. Does anybody know any gas remedies for infants other than moving their legs around. Has anyone tried gas drops ?. My 5week older has been screaming her head off, she's gassy .
Avatar f tn blood products and Epogen) regardless of the actual diagnosis, should we go ahead with the bone marrow biopsy.
Avatar m tn A main purpose of using Procrit or Epogen is to avoid a blood transfusion. It sounds like the Procrit is doing that for you (although that may be little consolation if you still feel really anemic). You are welcome to look at my Epogen tracking table that I posted as a photo on my profile for a data point on the effect Epogen/Procrit had on someone else.

264121 tn?1313029456 Then again, I still have to have weekly blood tests done for my epogen based anemia, so maybe the smarter but more annoying thing to do would just be to leave it in...
Avatar f tn 8. For infants over 1 month old only on breast milk or formula, add fruit juices 1 oz./month of age per day. Pear or apple juice are OK at any age. (Reason: treating a symptom) 9. For infants over 4 months old, also add baby foods with high fiber content twice a day (peas, beans, apricots, prunes, peaches, pears, plums). 10. Diet for Children Over 1 Year Old: 11. Increase fruit juice (apple, pear, cherry, grape, prune) (note: citrus fruit juices are not helpful). 12.
Avatar f tn Good for you for stopping mama. I don't know the exact timeline- I think the test goes back to about 20 weeks of pregnancy. My best advice is to let your provider know so they are aware of it and they can be on the look out for any complications with the baby. Good luck!
