645800 tn?1466860955 With the talk of EpiPen in Michelle's post earlier today it got me thinking about my problem with needles and other self infecting skin damage devices. I am hoping that maybe someone will have some ideas or at least where to look for help with this. My problem isn't the normal fear of needles. I can get shot or blood drawn with no problems. Well except I have to be able to watch what is going on.If I can't see it happening I will pass out.
Avatar n tn m also allergic to several medications (antibiotics) and my doctor said I might need an epipen when I take them to keep me alive until I get to a hospital. Just about all antibiotics close my throat. But I thought epipens contained epiphenephrine, and was told by a friend that it's bad for those with a heart arrhythmia. Has anyone here with PVCs had to use an epipen for an anaphlactic shock reaction, and if so, was it safe for the heart? Thanks.
Avatar n tn Hello I have severe reactions from insect stings especially bee stings. Its so bad that 1 or 2 stings will put me into anaphylactic shock. I have over 5000+ PVC's a day and the docs say it is a supposed benign condition. (which I do not believe). My wife has never had a pvc or palpitations. Anyways, I have to carry around a epipen everywhere I go. Last year I was working in my back yard and was stung twice, once in the face under the eye and once in my arm.
Avatar n tn Hi, welcome to the forum, as such epipen are not available yet. Epipen delivers a measured dose of epinephrine (also known as adrenaline) using autoinjector technology, most frequently for the treatment of acute allergic reactions to avoid or treat the onset of anaphylactic shock. In certain cases it can be used to stop local bleeding. Alternatively, the same drug can be given by the local health care provider or you need to go to emergency department.
Avatar m tn I have malaria and I was asked to take an injection, while the nurse was about giving me the injection, she pricked her hand with the needle and then she took off that needle and fixed another needle but there was visible blood on her finger, what are my chances if she touched the needle with her bloody finger before administering the injection? I need answers for my peace of mind please.
633670 tn?1389223411 Give the injection a little bit more time, but odds are, it isn't going to help. Trigger finger/thumb surgery is very successful and fairly quick if that is something you are considering. Best of luck!
Avatar m tn 2) Shallow prick on finger from a hollow needle with injection of HIV+ blood into finger from the bore and/or syringe and with fresh visible HIV+ blood on the needle. The prick is shallow but enough to cause bleeding. 3) Deep prick on finger from a solid or hollow needle with fresh visible HIV+ blood on the needle but without injection.
Avatar f tn Literally overnight, I developed a hard nodule under my middle finger on the palm, and my finger started snapping into place and being stiff after waking in the morning. Some days the pain is pretty bad and other days it's hardly there. It is my right hand and I am right-handed. Is surgery the only option to correct this problem? I can't imagine being without my right hand. Thanks for your advice.
4451049 tn?1387153437 If the person having the attack carries an epinephrine autoinjector (such as an EpiPen or EpiPen Jr), give him or her a shot right away. Even if symptoms improve after an emergency epinephrine injection, a visit to the emergency department is still necessary to make sure symptoms don't return. " Ephedra------ I certainly can't say that you were really going into an attack----- but if had been me I would have stabbed my EpiPen into my thigh and then gone to the ER.

Avatar n tn I was rushed to emergency, given benedryl and sent home 4 hours later. I got an Epipen for I was told, although rare, that I could have a secondary reaction within the next week. Sure enough November 5 I had a second reaction (bi-phasic reaction). I was given the epipen by my mother for I passed out and couldn't give it myself. Back to the hospital.
Avatar f tn hi, i've read a few of the post's, and that's all I had to read to see that most of you are suffering from the same thing I am. when I swell up I get very angry, not at family, friends, or myself etc., but at the pain, what makes it worst is when people don't understand you or believe you and you don't want to get mad at them so you hold it in. I first swelled up randomly if I remember at age 17. My hands were swollen as well as my ankles and the bottom of my feet.
