Avatar f tn Many features of your illness are consistent with the diagnosis of the Churg-Strauss Syndrome, a systemic vasculitis. There is evidence to suggest a close relationship, or at least a clinical overlap, between this disease and a number of hypereosinophilic disorders (see below).
Avatar f tn My daughter has eosinophilic gastroenteritis and eosinophilic proctocolitis.
Avatar n tn 35y Male - diagnosed with Eosinophilic Colitis 12 months ago following biopsy. Over that period I have tried different combinations of Prednisolone, Budesonide, Salazopyrin, Singulair and Colpermin, all with limited success. Presently, I am taking Budesonide (9mg daily) and Salazopyrin (150mg daily). Whilst this allows me to function normally (i.e. normal bowel movements) I have discomfort, bloating and cramping all day, every day.
Avatar n tn All stool samples negative but they did do a 2nd deeper biopsy in the endoscope and found eosinophils within several areas of his GI tract. Have your doctor look into eosinophilic gastroenteritis also....or eosinophilic esophagitis. This is where they are going with us but 2 1/2 weeks of Prednisone isn't cutting it. They think it's caused by food allergies. Have your daughter tested by an allergist to be sure. I hope we can all find some answers!
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Eosinophilic Gastroenteritis 2 years ago. I spent 17 days in the hospital and received high dose oral steroid treatment to treat it. It went away; however, the problem has resurfaced. My doctor has recommended I start a six food elimination diet. My question is: is there anybody doing this diet and how are you avoiding these foods? They seem to be in everything at the store. MY SFED consists of egg, milk, seafood/shellfish, tree nuts/peanuts, soy, and wheat.
Avatar f tn Hi, Eosinophilic pustular folliculitis is a skin infection/rash seen in people having HIV infection which is not treated and if the person is not in good help. It also happens to people who are HIV negative. Eosinophilic pustular folliculitis is certainly not a sign of HIV early infection.

Avatar n tn Hello, I cannot think of any condition associoated with both urticaria and difficulty swallowing except eosinophilic esophagitis. Symptoms of EE can range from severe heartburn, difficulty swallowing, food impaction in the esophagus, nausea, vomiting and weight loss to urticarial rash.Mostly, patients with eosinophilic esophagitis suffer from food allergies also. Diagnosis is obtained during an upper GI endoscopy where biopsies are taken of the esophagus.
Avatar n tn Blood transfusions are safe these days, you're stuck on the fear of a transfusion based on incidents where people acquired HIV early on in the epidemic. The blood supply is safe, your daughter has no HIV concerns. You need to listen to your daughter's doctor and seek some professional help for yourself to help you move on. It sounds like she has a stomach flu, which is in NO way related to HIV.
Avatar n tn Hello! I seem to have unfortunately caught gastroenteritis. I was given Ondansentron and it helped immensely. However, I can't sleep. I'm so wired and my stomach still hurts but luckily, no side effects. Is this normal? Is it the gastroenteritis or the drug?
Avatar n tn What should I be looking for regarding symptoms of this disease? He is one of two cats abandened after a fire. The other is a american short hair female. The female was not diagnosed with the disease at two years of age and was vaccinated.
Avatar f tn Hi people, I did some research on hiv symptoms and effects of low CD4 and see Eosinophilic folliculitis as hiv related. What exactly is that? I see the definition of it yet seems very similar to regular folliculitis, how would one define the two being differently. Is it different location on the body etc., I asked my primary care dr about it and was only familiar with reg folliculitis non related to hiv. I would like to know if you have and answer, thanks folks.
693811 tn?1245871706 The hospital I work in has had a very slow moving gastroenteritis going through patients and staff. I thought I had that already and it was just gut pain and was relieved with much yogurt. This virus seems to have a long incubation period. It's nothing like Norwalk.

Avatar f tn Viral gastroenteritis symptoms may appear 1-3 days after you are infected and can range from mild to severe. Symptoms usually last just a day or two, but occasionally they may persist as long as 10 days. Because the symptoms are similar, it is easy to confuse diarrhea caused by viruses with diarrhea caused by bacteria (e.g., Clostridium difficile, salmonella, and E. coli) or parasites (e.g., giardia). If your symptoms persist, see your doctor for further workup and management.
396278 tn?1207693392 t know what to expect as far as how it will affect my body. I have Eosinophilic Esophagitis on top of this which is an autoimmune disorder that causes my esophagus to become inflamed with eosinophils. Avatar f tn I have these symptoms too! Now I am not only experiencing it just off center of the middle of my ribs but on the right side just under my ribs. CT is normal with the exception of a small amount of fluid by my spleen. I had a hiatal hernia repair done just over a year ago thinking it was from that but with in two weeks I had another attack. I live in constant fear of it happening again due to how horrible the pain is.
Avatar m tn ve dealt with difficulty swallowing, stomach pain, and chest pain. It was not until two months ago that I diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis and possible GERD. Despite the diagnosis, my endoscopy did not show enough eosinophils per high power field for a diagnosis off the biopsy. I was diagnosed more based on the symptoms I was having, and the changes in my esophagus which were very typical for EOE patients (mucosal changes, white specks, furrows).
Avatar f tn But its specifically on my side, not my back or tummy. Its been a week since symptoms started. Symptoms include a constant achy feeling in the area, sharp pains in the area when i lay down or move positions or laugh or cough. I went to the doc after 5 days. He said its just viral gastroenteritis. I looked up the condition and it says you have vomiting and/or diarrhea, but i have neither. I am worried it is appendicitis, but the appendix is on the right side, not left.
