Avatar n tn t too sure where to post this, I have been taking a daily dose of tinzaparin for the last 4 months to treat my bilateral pulmonary embolism and deep vein thrombosis, and i have noticed my hairline receding and my overall head of hair thinning.
Avatar f tn 3 days later (boxing day) I was rushed to hospital with chest pains and diagnosed with self imposed pulmonary embolism. I was put on to Warfarin and monitored in hospital for 2 weeks.
Avatar n tn Two comprehensive studies, Prospective Investigation of Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis and Prospective Investigative Study of Acute Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis highlight the importance of clinical probability assessment in patients with suspected PE. Clinical probability assessment in the Prospective Investigation of Pulmonary Embolism Diagnosis study was standard, sometime ago. . With this scoring system, 66.7% of the patients in the high probability group, 20.
Avatar f tn I do take the birth control pill and I just want to make sure that pulmonary embolism is not a factor? What are the symptoms for that? I'm kind of scared. Advice is appreciated. Thank you!
Avatar n tn Hi, please stop worrying, as the symptoms with pulmonary embolism are usually progressive. Embolism is more common in people who are immobilized. Besides if there is a clot in the lungs, it would have showed in the tests done. In the absence of which it’s unlikely that you have clot in the lungs. So, stop worrying. However, if you develop fever or cough or breathlessness, check with your doctor to rule out a respiratory infection. Take care.
Avatar n tn Last Wednesday, 7 days ago, I woke up feeling bad. Like I had the flu but I wasn't sick. Later that night I began having a bad, deep throbbing in my right upper arm/shoulder. My arm was slightly swollen and cold like ice and felt real tight. This has happened before, but not accompanied with pain. I had insurance then and went to the dr and he didn't think or do anything of it. Along with my arm, my left leg was really weird feeling. I don't know how to describe it.
Avatar f tn Symptoms of a Pulmonary Embolism Symptoms of a pulmonary embolism depend on the size of the clot and the location in your lung where it becomes lodged. The most common symptom of a pulmonary embolism is shortness of breath. This may be gradual or sudden. If you experience sudden shortness of breath, you should seek medical attention immediately.
Avatar f tn There could be complications from the contrast dye they use, however if you had a pulmonary embolism its very likely it would kill you and baby which is why they took the risk.
Avatar m tn i am a 44 yr old male 6 weeks ago broke my rt tibia and had surg nothing complicated just to clean out the wound the bone was fractured but still aligned two weeks later i returned to the er with sever chest pain and was diagnosed with bilateral pulmonary embolism was put on blood thinners and sent home after 4 days i felt better but two weeks latter i had to return to the er for chest pain along my left side the pain is nearly constant but when i try to lay flat it becomes so bad i cant sleep
Avatar f tn s nurse recommended this and she was air transported to bigger hospital. Dr in ER thought she had Pulmonary Embolism. Her Dr saw her in hospital today and said she has pneumonia and caused her to have blood coming up when she coughed.
Avatar n tn I had been diagnosed with pnuemonia and went home and for 2 hours sit in recliner....I got up and immediately felt pain in my right lower lung area....It was a pulmonary embolism and the kind of pain that I can't describe....plurisy was also diagnosed....I was put on blood thinners of course, and 2 rounds of anti-inflammatory ...but the pain has come back since I took the last of the anti-inflmmatory medication.....Is this a common thing or something more??
Avatar n tn A pulmonary embolus is not a heart attack and they are not related to each other.
Avatar m tn After 4 weeks, I was diagnosed with an acute pulmonary thrombo-embolism. I did not have the typical symptoms, but pain started after I breathed in 'CS' gas during an accidental discharge. I also had pertussis earlier in the year. My pain always started btw the scapulas, and as my respiration increased from very mild exercise, the pain radiated across my scapulas, to my chest, down my arms to my elbows, and across my lower jaw. I never had problems breathing; only the pain.
Avatar n tn Bad chest pain in pregnancy can be the sign of a pulmonary embolism, which is basically a blood clot in the lung. It may not be that, of course, but a pulmonary embolism is common in pregnant women (even young women) and can cause sudden death, so I really think you should go to an e.r. immediately. There is a simple blood test that can look for evidence of a p.e.
Avatar f tn I assumed that they would want know of the Pulmonary Embolism so I called when I got out of the hospital. The nurse coordinator with whom I talked with made no response other than to say ok. I was given no directions as to how to manage and what to do. I was very lucky in that my embolism was found early it just that I want to know if I need to do things differently than before with my Pulmonary Hypertension. I may seek to get a second opinion from another pulmonary Hypertension clinic.
Avatar n tn Wheezing, characteristic of asthma, can occur due to pulmonary embolism, which are clots to the lung) but there is no confirmed relationship between asthma and emboli. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish acute bronchitis from asthma, unless the former is accompanied by cough productive of discolored sputum.
Avatar f tn A pregnant woman could get deep-vein thrombosis, it is slightly more common in pregnancy than other times. Deep-vein thrombosis can possibly lead to pulmonary embolism. But one would have to ignore the deep-vein thrombosis for a while, for it to develop into a pulmonary embolism. Since DVT is noticeable and hurts, unless the woman was in a place without medical care, the likelihood of death is not high. Sweetheart, are you worried about dying in childbirth? They won't let you.
Avatar f tn Also I agree you need to have a D-Dimer to check for pulmonary embolism. I had these symptoms last week and they thought it was a pulmonary embolism, lucky for me it was just pneumonia.
Avatar n tn So I had what I and the doctors thought was pneumonia for 4 months. My symptoms were pleural pain, difficulty breathing, and fatigue. I had numerous x-rays, CT scans, visits to my GP and a pulmonologist, plus an emergency room visit when I couldn't breathe due to rib and chest pain, plus three rounds of antibiotics, but they could only diagnose pneumonia.
Avatar f tn Hi, have you had a CT scan of your chest with contrast?? If the cardiologist ruled out heart trouble, then it's got to be your lungs. The CT with contrast would show if you had a pulmonary embolism, which would not show up on an ordinary x-ray. Do some googling and look up pulmonary embolism. It's a blood clot in the lungs that cause shortness of breath, and asthma like symptoms. Do not let this go, ask for the ct with contrast.
Avatar f tn I have an interest due to my mum being diagnosed with a large brain AVM. She had a pulmonary embolism last week (no known cause) and is currently receiving warfarin and heparin injections. I am concerned that these drugs may not be suitable for an AVM person. She hasn't yet seen a consultant to determine treatment options for the AVM. I also wonder whether the PE could be connected to the AVM.
Avatar f tn Gosh, I wouldn't think so. You've reached back out to them? What is their response? https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pulmonary-embolism/symptoms-causes/syc-20354647 In times of covid, you'd also want to make sure the shortness of breath and coughing are not the virus. But pulmonary embolisms can be fatal. Reach out to your doctor immediately if you have not! Let me know what happens and how she is!!
Avatar n tn 56 year old female no heart issues had a pulmonary embolism which dissolved and since then has had constant fluid build up in both lungs
Avatar f tn i have seen five different docs and i still think i have a pulmonary embolism, i have shortness of breath and have been told it is anxiety. And i cant help feeling that my anxiety is masking something serious. Help!
Avatar f tn Thanks. I spoke to a friend of mine yesterday who is an oncologist in our area and she said that avastin will probably not be an option any more because my mother had a pulmonary embolism in the hospital. We'll find out on Friday when we meet with the oncolocgist. She said that they will not usually give avastin any time after someone has a pulmonary embolism. It looks like carbo/taxol will be it. We will keep our fingers crossed her cancer responds to it.
