why has your dr. prescribed effexor if your doing well on the kolonopin? yes! effexor gave me severe heart palpitations. they were so bad one night i had my husband take me to the hospital, i was also having severe jaw pain. they checked me out and said i was fine and sent me home. they recomended that i get a stress test which i did and it came back fine. my regular m.d, the hospital and the heart dr.
After very sever psychotic depression (so bad I couldnt hold down water) three years later I have made a good recovery. I just need 2.5 mg zyprexa to live my life. It prevents relapse.
But the weight gain is hard. Has anyone found an alternative that works as well as zyprexa but without the weight.
I’m agoraphobic , panic disorder , bipolar depression. I’m prescribed Effexor 225 er. Zyprexa (15) makes me too tired though, amitryptiline 150 for sleep mirtazipine 15for sleep. Gabapentin400 mg 4 times a day for anxiety. I have trouble getting out of bed when my daughter isn’t here with me. That’s the only good thing about me is I’m a great father with 50/50 custody. I also am a former addict .
Anyone out there taking synthroid for hypo and effexor? just wondering if there are any side effects from mixing these two meds...i am very uneasy about taking meds at all and very scared to mix medication..i also drink red wine once in a while...
I have 2 questions: I'm Bipolar and I've been on medication for nearly 9 years. The one medication that I've been on for the duration of this period is Effexor XR. My first question is: Are there any known long-term side-efffects, particularly regarding inertia? Because I have absolutely no motivation; it's been like this for years. I come from a family of extremely motivated people, and even when I'm feeling great I'm still totally unmotivated, and often tired.
I has been diagnosed by a psychiatrist as severe anxiety,depression,insominia, and paranoid schizophrenia. The medications I am on is Effexor Xr 225mg, Neurontin 100mg tid, Thorazine 200mg at night,and stop taking Zyprexa 5mg.
What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.
We got in to see her psychiatrist and she spilled her guts about denying and covering up the manic episodes in the past. He put her on Zyprexa to knock down the mania and then started her on Lamictal, keeping her on Effexor. That was all about two weeks ago.
I guess my question is: is there any chance of a normal life after being diagnosed?
ADs and BP disorder are always an interesting conundrum. I know that there have been extensive studies regarding a Zyprexa/Prozac combination for BP disorder. Those studies have shown to be effective. If you and your pdoc are thinking about going with Prozac, I would probably look into using it with Zyprexa.
The ADs can be hit or miss, especially with BP folks. I know that I (along with many BP friends) have had serious issues with all of the ADs.
really wondering what my options are now as been on effexor / venlafaxine now for 8 1/2 weeks up to 225mg and continue to feel depressed, avoidant and socially quiet which is not the person i am. Contniue to take mirtzapine 45mg and 5-HTP but considering dumping these or / and further augementation stragegies. Anybody have any good experiences with Lithium ornate as an additional supplement or with Lithium carbonate itself for treatment resistent depression??
I am on 7.5 mg of abilify (morning), and 2.5mg zyprexa (night), which I've been on for a couple of weeks
I'm finding the mix better than just the 7.5mg of olanzapine I have been taking previously for 6 years due to the fact I can actually get up in the morning now!
I recommend these doses. I would like to know side affects of abilify..ie sex drive, sense of humour, weight loss?
And can I use paracetomels with this mix? And green tea slimming pills?
Doc said that the panic attacks may be manic symptoms and so she told me to take zyprexa 2.5mg at night, stop the prozac and take 37.5 of effexor until she gets back in town. She told me that she thinks that I am bipolar but I don’t understand why. She said that she thought my panic attacks were manic episodes that manifest as irritability and panic. I don’t get it. I do have ups and downs but just like anyone else I think.
I did take Depakoate (Epilim is another name for it) for a while and although it worked on mania it did not work on depression but that's common and probably why you were prescribed venlafaxine (another name for Effexor) which is an anti-depressent. As for paranoia, Seroquel is a very effective antipsychotic (for many people although each person reacts differently to each medication) with mood stabilization properties and while I could tolerate it I found it quite helpful.
Hi I tried olanzapine zyprexa. I gained 105 lbs in about 8 months and then i had to loose it. I was purely O before and then i started major contamination fears. I got off it after 6 years. I was sooo sick with the contamination fears and now i am not. I would not take it it is not approved for OCD i heard only schizophrenia. Best wishes.
After that medicine started working, I tried several more, hoping to get the relief again. I tried Zoloft, Cymbalta, Zyprexa, Valium, Elavil, Xanax (made me more nervous), Klonopin, Ativan (currently on), Abilify and Seroquel.
None of these medicines, on any dose took away my panic or anxiety.
I recently had a 24 hour urine collection to test for tumors on my adrenal glands, as well as my dopamine level, etc. But it came back normal.
