also, Advil, Tylonol and Excederine, none of them cause any issue with my Effexor XR. At the time I drank alcohol every weekend and that seemed to work ok with the Effexor. That's about all I can think of that I mixed with my Effexor. Try to do a google search on "Effexor drug interactions" and see what pops up.

m wondering if maybe Effexor XR is too strong for me and maybe just the regular Effexor would be more suitable? I like the fact that I'm wired and on task all day, but the headaches aren't fun. My therapist says that if cutting my dose down on the Effexor XR resolves the headaches then she has to take me off of it altogether. Do you have any insight on this med, or perhaps suggest something else. I am afraid of staring a med that makes me feel lethargic, I have to be on task.

ive gained at least 100 lbs health going down because of effexor xr i would never recommend this ****! i tried going off cold turkey didnt work so well . bad side ffects such as virtigo achey crying for no reason night sweats and night mares! now that ive went from 75 mg to 37.5 i feel great back to normal yay! i got on it only because i was dealing with my father dying of brain cancer felt very anxius and worried .he passed away two years ago! depression never really affected me!

I also take Effexor 150mg XR in the morning. And 100mg Effexor tablet (generic) in the afternoon. I also take a 150mg of wellbutrin at about 10am. Now I'm taking a 50mg dose of tramadol for dental problems. And occaisenly a m357 vicodin. Also a bunch of b vitamins and c vitamins. I also drink a lot. And really with what dental work I've had done this past week hardly ate anything in a week. Anyone have any commits on this? Just checking out other thoughts. Thanks.

Regarding Effexor, yes Fuzzz is corect in saying that it can be a bit more uncomfortible to stop, but I just know too many people that have had great success with Effexor XR to bash it for it's unfortunate withdrawl side effect. One way around this with Venlafaxine is that you could for example take half your daily dosage twice a day. (You see what I mean?) so lets say your doc prescribed you 150Mgs of Venlafaxine a day. Then you could break that tab in half and take one in morning and one around 4:00pm.

I mentioned about switching from Effexor Xr 225mg (which on my own I lowered to 150mg) He said that Effexor XR affects two different areas of the body whereas Zoloft only affects one area. I hate to see you have to switch from Effexor XR if it was working well for you. You are correct that Celexa and Effexor XR are very different in terms of what neurotransmitters they effect in the brain. Celexa being an SSRI and Effexor XR being an SNRI. For depression has heavy symptoms of fatuge and exhaustion, then an SNRI is always a better bet becuase they tend to be more energizing.

Effexor XR should NOT be stopped cold turkey! It can cause a very unpleasant discontinuation syndrome. Talk to your doctor about tapering. You could consider a cross-titration, in which you gradually decrease the Effexor XR while gradually increasing the Celexa.

Work on getting off your medication with your doctor, and only with his advice. Most medicatons have side effects and frequently we have to decide between the lesser of two evils... are the side effects worse then the illness. Medications like these need to be reduced gradually, minimizing the effects of withdrawal from them.. AND we don't really know for sure whether we still need them until we are off them. I had a damn good 4 years of total effectiveness with Effexor XR. It has a more (pick you up) sort of property to it than many other medications. Skip the Cymbalta. Yes, it is also an SNRI like Effexor XR, but I and countless others have found it to be much less effective. There is a reason Effexor XR makes Weith 3.5 Billion per year...."Because it works." Effexor XR is the highest grossing AD medication of all time.

I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

I got back on regular effexor and began to feel positive effects but not totally. I switched to XR Effexor and it worked better. But still not full remission. I started th regular effexor 13 weeks ago and have been on the EFFEXOR XR for 2 weeks. But I still don't feel like myself. I feel better but not consistantly good. I feel best in the PM. Mornings are the worst part of my day. I take 1 150mg dose at 9PM. Should I ask the doctor to increase my dosage to 300mg.

m sure your dr has you increasing the dose because at higher doses it has some effects on dopomine. Stay with effexor xr do not switch to regular effexor- bad side effects!!! there is no generic for effexor XR only regular effexor, you are going to notice symptom of a kind of withdrawl, headaches, vertigo, this is the worst. I take effexor xr and if I miss a dose I feel terrible---call you doctor--alot of times the have samples that can get you through until you can get your money.

I'm taking Effexor XR and am on tx. It works good for me and was prescribed by my hepatologist.
