Effexor xr side effects sweating

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor xr side effects sweating

effexor

Avatar m tn They have also been used off-label to treat migraines, diabetic neuropathy, and hot flashes. According to the official Effexor XR website, common side effects may include nausea, dizziness, sleepiness, sweating, dry mouth, gas, abnormal vision, nervousness, insomnia, loss of appetite, constipation, confusion, agitation, tremors, yawning, palpitations, and increased cholesterol.
Avatar n tn Try another solution or you will end up with dreadful side effects whilst trying to wean off effexor. I now have myoclonus which could (not definite) be due to effexor. I did stop taking effexor for about 6 months but my depression became so severe as nothing else helped so I had to start taking it again. Eat 3 meals a day and take time out to relax, it will help the IBS, also drinking peppermint helps.
534618 tn?1213458076 I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and was prescribed Effexor XR for this condition. I also know some other people that take Effexor XR. You are (I assume) just starting on a dose that will build up slowly. I have heard of and experienced excessive sweating at night while taking the Effexor. It is a pretty powerful med, and it may take you a while to get used to.
Avatar n tn I'm a stay at home Mom of a 3 year old and since deciding to try for #2, my husband and I thought it would be safest to be med free during my pregnancy, since the effects of Effexor in pregnancy has not really been studied. I took 75mg of Effexor XR for a little over a year for general anxiety. I have been weaning for almost 3 months as gradually as I could. My last weaning was for almost a month at 18.5mg.
Avatar n tn I want to see how I act without the meds and if I needed them in the first place, as I remember the Doctor giving me the meds rather hastily. I have the side effects of excessive sweating and sexual side effects. I also had the comment by multiple people that I'm somewhat 'distant' , 'blase' or 'nonchalant' about everything. It was in fact a reason that my ex-girlfriend broke up with me. I originally started taking the meds as a result of minor depression and anxiety disorder.
Avatar n tn My wife has been taking Effexor and it's done wonders. However, sweating is a bad side effect. Her doctor checked thyroids, menapause, blood pressure, etc. Everything is fine. So I'm assuming it's from the medicine since it started when she started the meds. Had an appointment with the doctor. He said he was going to increase the mg's to see how that effects the sweating. 1. Is increasing the dosage normal to detect possible side effects? 2.
Avatar f tn i would like to stop taking the effexor and wellbutrin - i sweating profusly 1 of the side effects. is there anything comparable to these 2 that would NOT have this side effect?
Avatar n tn Today I found this site and read practically every comment , article as well as personal testimonies from fellow Effexor XR survivors. My question is not one of how to reduce or manage withdrawal symptoms ( have fully discussed with GP and Psychiatrist all aspects ) however I get nowhere when trying to find out high dosage over long term effects medically . I've been on 300mg, 150mg in morning and again at bedtime.
308074 tn?1289690946 I have been taking effexor xr for depression for about 3 weeks now. I have been sweating like crazy, no matter what I do. The phamplet I got said that that is a side effect, but my Grandma is taking effexor xr also, and she said her doctor prescribed it to her to help her stop sweating. Do you think I am sweating because of the effexor, or because of the yaz birth control? I know that everything effects everyone different, and I was wondering if that is true with effexor xr.
Avatar f tn It's soo much better than Paxil - no weight gain, no sexual side effects...
627095 tn?1222040689 I have never been able to get through the side effects of being dizzy, feeling of unbalance and my head is all tingly and shocking when I try stopping my dosage, but I am getting fed up with the side effects while taking Effexor even more. The constant sweating, weight gain, fatigue, loss of memory, trouble thinking and speaking,etc.. Are there any dangers for stopping this medication due to the length of time I have been on it?
Avatar n tn I previously experience HORRIBLE side effects from sudden withdrawal of effexor. I had palpitations, pounding heart, profuse sweating, and jerking motions of arms and legs (seizure-like). So I was off it in a month and put on Celexa. My Rx co-pay went from $48 per month to $4 at Wal-Mat. I'm a happy camper.
Avatar n tn what are the common side effects experienced with Effexor? Am I less likely to have side effects from Effexor if I have not suffered side effects from Zoloft, (save for the emotional flatness I mentioned), or does it depend on the individual and not on what other drugs they have tolerated? I'd love to hear from anyone who has been on both Zoloft and Effexor XP. Thank you!
Avatar n tn She actually put me on a different anti depressant (Zoloft) and that took care of the emotional and physical side effects of the Effexor. I don't know if one is better than the other, but I have fewer side effects with this, and if I miss a dose, I don't feel like I'm crawling out of my skin. My original doctor prescribed Effexor so quickly, it scares me to know that more people are being given this horrible medication.
Avatar n tn Now I mix it with Wellbutrin which stimulates me, so I take this in the morning and effexor at night. Other SE's of effexor included excessive sweating, short term memory loss, fatigue, acne, weight gain and total lack of sex drive/sensation.
Avatar n tn BEFORE PAXIL I WAS TAKING ZOLOFT, BUT I STOPPED BECAUSE OF THE AWFUL SIDE EFFECTS. SHOULD I STOP TAKING PAXIL CR AND BEGIN TAKING EFFEXOR? IF SO, WHAT WILL MY SIDE EFFECTS BE OF SUDDENLY SWITCHING MEDICATIONS? AND WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT EFFEXOR WILL WORK FOR ME AFTER BOTH ZOLOFT AND PAXIL FAILED?
Avatar n tn My psych doc wants me off of Effexor XR due to my issues with high blood pressure. I was on 75mg/day for a little over 2 years (with an increase to 150 and then back to 75mg). I am also on Lamictal, Lithium, and Seroquel - hence another reason to get off of it. I am on day 4 of the withdrawal from Effexor and I feel horrible. I have extreme vertigo, cold sweats, and of course the crazy crying for no reason. I would have been on day 6, but my mother convinced me to take a little to feel better.
Avatar n tn My doctore just put me on effexor xr daily to manage my headaches and migraines. Has anyone heard of this being prescribed for this purpose? I can't find in anything I've read where this helps with daily management of headaches.
Avatar n tn I've been on Effexor XR, 150 mg for one year and I have experienced the EXACT same thing! I'ts possible that the Effexor XR has not been working, and that the word retrieval problem (and names of people) is really caused by depression. I'm definately not a doctor, but I doubt that there is PERMANENT brain damage. Sorry, I don't have any answers for you. Have you mentioned this problem to your doctor? I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this????
Avatar n tn the brain shocks they talk about among other effects! TOLD HIM NOT TO TAKE THEM BUT HE TRUSTED HIS DOC! When I first started on effexor xr 8 years ago they were $150.00 a month,( I had insurance ) now they are up to $415.00, quite the racket! get them hooked raise the price... (since they can't get off them) they try... but they will go back on as they have such terrible side effects! LEGAL DRUG LAWS! Sorry to ramble...
607502 tn?1288251140 I was on effexor xr for a while I liked it...I didnt have any weird side affects...I am now taking lithium...I think they might put me back on the effxor too so we can figure it out together I guess...by the way thanks so much for all the help....My docs decided on lithium if you didnt figure that out!
Avatar n tn Has anyone tried to get off of Effexor XR? Is it possible? At this point, I am wondering if it is something I will have to take for life. I've tapered off slowly and done everything right, but it's gotten to the point where I can't drive because of "jello brain" and I am having some fierce migraine headaches with nausea, vomiting and tunnel vision. I don't want to be addicted to the stuff. Should I keep on trying to feel better or just give in and start taking it again?
Avatar n tn WENT OFF PROZAC AS IT WAS CAUSING EAR RINGING BUT I'D TAKE THAT ANY DAY TO THE SIDE EFFECTS OF EFFEXOR XR... I BELIEVE MY DR DOESN'T SEEM TO BE TOO IMPRESSED BY IT NOW EITHER.... START THEH NEW YEAR 'O6 OFF THIS TERRIBLE DRUG........
Avatar n tn Oftentimes, to decrease the severity of the side effects of a medication, I advocate splitting the dose. Effexor XR (extended release) was meant to be taken as a Once a day dosing for ease of compliace among patients. But initially Effexor 75 mg was in immediate release form (IR). You may want to discuss with your psychiatrist in switching you to Effexor 75mg specify Immediate release as it also comes in extended release, 2x /day.
Avatar n tn I've been off of effexor for 23 days now and I wake up EVERY morning at the same exact time, sweating, nautious, anxious, and I run to the bathroom with loose bowels. I've been starting every morning like this every day since I came off. Is there any hope that things will get better? I feel like I'm stuck like this because I've been working on an anxiety/depression program, but I feel like something is physically wrong. I've learned how to prevent panic for the most part.
Avatar m tn I have never had sweating with Effexor, in fact I have no side effects at all. It seems everyone is different and have different nside effects to drugs. I have taken other anti depressants with horrible side effects, but Effexor really suits me.
Avatar n tn I took myself off of the effexor because I was feeling good and the night sweating side effects became such an annoyance, that I took myself off. Since then my anxiety has returned and my doc has tried a new cocktail of zoloft and buspar, which is not working. I have used clonopin, xanex, and alprazolam as tranquilizers to help when it gets bad.
Avatar n tn I really dont want to be on meds but last night I saw him and he said get off the Effexor xr even though its a good drug its just not for me. I had wayyyyyy tooooo many side effects that only got worse not better. I am starting Serafem (another name for Prozac) this am and also perhaps a very very small amount of Risperdal at night to sleep to help with panic and insomnia like 1/2 of a 0.25mg tab.
