effexor xr how it works

t had to take it for a long while now. Cannot remember how long it takes. I wish it worked in a day. I ned relief of this. I have lost 7 lbs in a week, cannot eat, do not want to eat, do not want to do nothing. Just want to lay and sleep...... Does anyone know how fast I should feel some relief and feel a little better. It is like I am blank and don't know what to think about. Like I am looking around and not seeing what I am looking at.........

has anyone made it thru the effexor xr withdrawals with success, if so please give detalis on how you did it, i will be starting to taper off of it soon, i really would like to stay off of this drug once im completely off of it,----i know everyone is different but theres got to be some info on how to do this------

Although everyone reacts differently to a particular medication, my experience with Pristiq is that it was no different from the Effexor XR I had been taking. I'm now back on Effexor XR. The two medications are almost identical. You do need to give it about four weeks before you make an assessment about its effectiveness. Good luck.

I mentioned about switching from Effexor Xr 225mg (which on my own I lowered to 150mg) He said that Effexor XR affects two different areas of the body whereas Zoloft only affects one area. Now he mentioned NOTHING about keep taking the Effexor Xr in lower does while I make hte switch to Zoloft. Am I supposed to just switch right over to Zoloft and discontinue the Effexor Xr??

The lowest dose available in the market is known to me as the 37.5mg. Frankly, I'd like it for the 18.75 mg to exist - but how true is it? (Also, on other sites I read about people opening up the capsules but many don't recommend that as not all particles are exactly the same.

Has anyone tried the generic for of the regular effexor. My insurance is way more the effexor xr. The regular effexor has a generic.

t find Pristiq any better (for me) than Effexor XR, so I went back to Effexor XR. I wish you the best of luck with it. I hope it works for you.

Does this problem need to be fixed with such a hard drug? How long should I take it? Is it possible to get off it without pain or painfull symptoms? I really need your help.

My daughter has been on Effexor XR 150 MG for about a year. She recently found out that her insurance would not pay for this medicine. Her Dr. put her on Zoloft without wheening her off of the Effexor XR. She is experience symptoms that include feeling very dizzy and nausea. Is this Dr. correct prescribing her this new medicine without slowly wheening her off of the Effexor XR. Are these symptoms due to her going "Cold Turkey" with the Effexor XR? Please advised.

Good Afternoon, It is worth noting that Wyeth Pharmaceuticals currently has a patent for Effexor XR. While there is a generic extended release version of venlafaxine available, it is not exactly the same as the brand name (Because of the patent). The headaches you are experiencing may be caused by some of the inert ingredients in the generic brand. Knowing this, I would take the samples back to your Dr. and continue using the brand name since you already know it works for you.

Viepax is simply a new generic version of Effexor XR (Extended Release) The active ingredient is Venlafaxine. (Same as in Effexor XR) The patent on Effexor XR ran out about 8 months ago and now other pharm companies can make generic extended release Effexor. In the last 7 years Effexor XR has made Weith Pharm company 3.5 Billion dollars per year. That Billion not Million. Now you can see why other pharm companies are so eager to get their generic version to market.

I was on Effexor XR for a year. Didn't have much luck with it. It did help with the anxiety but didn't aliviate all the depression. My doc finally switched me to Cymbata and I've been on it for the last 3 years. Cymbalta is chemically similar in that it works on both seritonin and norepenefrin (sp?). Hope you find the right drug, don't get discouraged, it takes some time and several drug changes for amny patients to find the right one or combonation.

I was on effexor for 5 years and it sounds like your not on the right medication. I had the same effects and came off of effexor XR becuase of it. There lies another problem. Coming off of effexor XR is pretty rough. I have posted on it in the forums. Effexor is one drug that I would really look into before staying on it. I am not a Dr and not telling you what to do but if it were me and I were feeling like you are I would goto my DR. immediately and tell him how it was making me feel.

I hate to see you have to switch from Effexor XR if it was working well for you. You are correct that Celexa and Effexor XR are very different in terms of what neurotransmitters they effect in the brain. Celexa being an SSRI and Effexor XR being an SNRI. For depression has heavy symptoms of fatuge and exhaustion, then an SNRI is always a better bet becuase they tend to be more energizing.

My psychiatrist switched me from Effexor to Pristiq and believe me I was scared to death! I'd heard nothing but horror stories about coming off Effexor and I can not stress to you how afraid I was! My doseages were a little different. I had been taking 150mg of Effexor and switched down to 50mg of Pristiq. I am happy to report no withdrawal symptoms at all, even though my doseage was lowered considerably.

t think you are addicted to the pills maybe just the high you are feeling. I am a pharmaceutical rep and I used to sell effexor xr so I know a bit about it. It is a very good AD, what dose are you currently taking? I does take a few weeks to start working and your dr may need to adjust the dose if it is not relieving you depression. I take Effexor XR, and while I understand it's a love it or hate it kind of medication, it's been a good one for me. That said, there are some downsides. Withdrawal hits hard and fast, so if you're a few hours late taking it, you'll know. Headaches that painkillers don't touch, dizziness.. I don't know how much worse it gets, because I've never left it longer than that, but all in all, it's been great.

Recently I stopped taking My Effexor XR for about a week and I fell into a deep, deep, depression. It hurt, I dident want to be around anyone and being alone was like being in a prison cell for 1. Well I got back on Effexor XR and it took 2 weeks but I am now out of that depression. I am also on Xanax as stated and I wouldnt dare even try comming off of that cold turkey.

i've been taking Effexor XR for almost 2 years now with 150mg a day. It's been fabulous and has always manage to control my anxiety and depression. On Monday 25 i came down with a fever and started to get really sick. On Wed 27th i was prescribed Rulide, and I took it asap. By Friday morning i was suffering from bad anxiety attacks in the morning, weird and just disturbing dreams in the morning, and a sense of low self worth and depression.
