323525 tn?1229342647 I was hoping that anyone who is currently taking or has taken Effexor xr could share any experiences with it? I know that everyone reacts differently to every medication, but I would really appreciate any thoughts on it. Thank you!
Avatar n tn I have been on that now for 10 days and have none of the side effects that I had with the Effexor. My doctor said that if had of stayed on the Effexor that the side effects would have diminished but I just couldn't take another day of naseau and twitching. Just my experience though.
Avatar n tn She put me on Effexor XR. I have been on it two days and I feel very groggy all day. I feel that I am not sleeping well either. Will this go away after I have been on this a couple weeks? I was also conerned about weight gain, I do not want to gain weight on this, I've read that some people have gained weight on Effexor. I used to be on Prozac too but never gained weight on that or Wellbutrin.
Avatar n tn Hi there, I was on Effexor XR 150mg for a couple months only. It did nothing for me and actually brought back a lot of my anxiety symptoms. The only drug that works for me, for anxiety/OCD issues is Zoloft. I went off effexor in a matter of 5 days and the withdrawal was the worst I have ever experienced. I have a pretty resilient body though and medicine, etc moves through me pretty quickly. I would say that my withdrawal lasted 2 weeks while it was REALLY bad.
492527 tn?1212179272 I have been taking zoloft for 2 weeks but it is making me tired and haven't seen any change at all. I was thinking about switching to effexor xr. Is this a good choice.
1325908 tn?1274864728 Well I ran across a website, well I can't really say I ran across it I crashed into it, any body on the anti-depressant Effexor XR PLEASE go to www.fda.gov Put in Effexor XR in the search engine there. Information is there about Effexor XR. I found a pdf on a warning letter. This may not mean anything to you but it tells me that Wyeth tryed to pass this med off as a good medication and now those of us that are on it are having a hell of a time getting off of it.
Avatar f tn Hello. Is it possible to have side-effects and withdrawal symptoms after taking Effexor XR (75 mg) for a very short period of time? I took this med for 2 weeks only and then got off it cold turkey 3 weeks ago. During this time I experienced dizziness, tingling and burning in the limbs and sometimes brain zaps and body shivering. Are these related to taking Effexor? Indeed I missed a dose once and the next day I got several episodes of vertigo.
534618 tn?1213458076 I have GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) and was prescribed Effexor XR for this condition. I also know some other people that take Effexor XR. You are (I assume) just starting on a dose that will build up slowly. I have heard of and experienced excessive sweating at night while taking the Effexor. It is a pretty powerful med, and it may take you a while to get used to.
Avatar n tn There really is nothing that needs being done about it. It's no secret that SNRI drugs such as Effexor, Pristiq, and Cymbalta do have a higher risk of what is called Discontinuation Syndrome. SSRI's can also be nasty buggers to discontinue. Paxil being one of many. I hear a lot of people complain about antidepressant Discontinuation Syndrome, but I never hear then speak of the flip side. I used to take Effexor XR at 300Mgs a day for about 4 years.
Avatar n tn My 20 year old son is weaning off of effexor xr. He was up to 300 mg per day and now is on 75 mg. Tommorrow he goes down to 37.5 mg. He has had some withdrawals. I am wondering what will happen when he is right off of them, if he will still have withdrawals. Can anyone share their experience with me.
Avatar f tn I almost feel like i am drunk all the time, not because of the dramamine, but because of still withdrawing from the effexor. Let alone the exhausting feeling I experience, my legs and whole body just want to buckle from under me. But for the most part Iam feeling better. No thanks to the effexor. I am dealing with my anxiety, staying busy and listening to the inspirational books like the Secret. Taking it one day at a time.
Avatar n tn If you take medication such as Effexor XR and feel the highs from it then you definitely need to be able to tolerate the lows of getting off it. There is no free lunch in this type of business. You have to take responsibility for your decisions. And as far as running. It's very obvious that it opens up your cardio vascular system and releases endorphins naturally that make you feel better. Training for a marathon??
Avatar n tn I'm a stay at home Mom of a 3 year old and since deciding to try for #2, my husband and I thought it would be safest to be med free during my pregnancy, since the effects of Effexor in pregnancy has not really been studied. I took 75mg of Effexor XR for a little over a year for general anxiety. I have been weaning for almost 3 months as gradually as I could. My last weaning was for almost a month at 18.5mg.
Avatar f tn I posted yesterday about weaning off Klonopin and I appreciate your quick response. I have read that the drugs of choice for Generalized Anxiety Disorder are Paxil, Effexor, and Lexapro. I also did some reading in the Mayoclinic.com Drug Database about side effects of these meds. Under Effexor, which is what I take, "side effects that may go away as your body adjust to the med" are nervousness, anxiety, jitteriness, etc. These side effects are not listed under Lexapro.
Avatar n tn Today I found this site and read practically every comment , article as well as personal testimonies from fellow Effexor XR survivors. My question is not one of how to reduce or manage withdrawal symptoms ( have fully discussed with GP and Psychiatrist all aspects ) however I get nowhere when trying to find out high dosage over long term effects medically . I've been on 300mg, 150mg in morning and again at bedtime.
Avatar f tn I am sure, I am hoping, that the physical effects will end soon. I quit Effexor Xr cold turkey 9 days ago. I decided to go cold turkey because the research I had read led me to believe no matter how you do it you still go through a miserable withdrawal. I have the support of my husband and my family. They are all aware of the research and the withdrawal effects I may experience.
Avatar n tn I know I started taking effexor XR at night and the doctor quickly told me to take it in the morning. Not sure why, but it works for me.
308074 tn?1289690946 I know that everything effects everyone different, and I was wondering if that is true with effexor xr. Thanks for anyones help.
Avatar n tn I was on lexapro for 2 months, for general anxiety and depression then started takin effexor for sexual side effect reasons..The effexor did not cure any of my sexual side effects. My doctor then advised me to stop taking the effexor for a week to see if the sexual side effects got any better which they did. I am now on day 5 of no effexor and i keep having these zaps or sensations running through my body. When will these stop? any help will be great.
Avatar n tn I was on 150 mg of effexor xr for around two years. i tapered very slowly and had horrible headaches and brain zaps that were very very scary. While tapering my doctor put me on 20 mg of prozac and I think that helped somewhat. but three months later im still having occasional brain zaps Are these symptoms going to be permanent? im afraid that the effexor has done damage to my brain.
Avatar f tn Today, I still feel anxious and of course tired from not sleeping. Could it be my body adjusting to the change in meds or is it Effexor withdrawals? If so, how long should it last. Should I go ahead and start taking the full 10 mg. of Lexapro until I am completely off the effexor. Could it be side effects from the Lexapro. I would have thought I would have side effects right away if I were going to have any on the Lexapro. Just wondered what your thoughts are on this.
Avatar n tn i am currently taken effexor any questions just ask
Avatar n tn Hi, I have begun Effexor Xr 37.5 mg. for basic anxiety- I worry alot.. I have gone on/ off for years, the stigma of being on meds. gets to me. I am a healthy, school teacher and am not depressed.. more like a cat on a hot tin roof, worry about alot, especially my health (not really a hypocondriac, but close!). I have had weird things happen like a virus of some sort that made my liver enzymes go out of whack.. so, 6 months of blood work, ultrasounds on liver etc..
Avatar n tn I have been taking Effexor XR 75 mg for about 8 months. I started weening myself off 4 days ago taking 75 mg every other day. This morning at work something terrible happend. I can't see straight, I am sweating really bad and my vision is blurry. I am a designer and i need to focus! I can barley sit up straight, and I don't know what to do.
Avatar n tn i cannot count the number of posts i've read here and on other forums about ppl having horrible side effects and/or withdrawal effects of meds to include effexor. i also took effexor and had similar experiences. i now refuse to take any ADs. i've been on so many that i can't even name them all! the side effects have been terrible as well as the withdrawal effects (and most of them just don't work!) remember, you are in control of what goes into your body....not some pdoc!
Avatar n tn what are the common side effects experienced with Effexor? Am I less likely to have side effects from Effexor if I have not suffered side effects from Zoloft, (save for the emotional flatness I mentioned), or does it depend on the individual and not on what other drugs they have tolerated? I'd love to hear from anyone who has been on both Zoloft and Effexor XP. Thank you!
Avatar m tn Hello, I am a 32 year old male who currently has been taken off Effexor XR after 6 years. I stopped taking this medication three days ago. To give a brief rundown of my history with Effexor, I was taking 300mg (2 pills a day) for almost 4 years. I went down to 150mg for almost 2 years. I had been taking the smaller dosages (75mg + 37.5mg) per my phyician and we finally pulled the plug on it three days ago. It has been pure HELL for me in this reguard.
Avatar n tn She did say that she had withdraw sypmtoms with effexor. She said that her head, body and arms were very aching while she was decreasing the effexor. She had such a bad withdraw from the effexor that she ended up in a mental health facility. It was the best thing for her. Cymbalta is working very well for her! Good Luck and I hope this helps!
