effexor xr and withdrawal

What is the difference between Effexor and Effexor XR? Are the dosages usually the same for both meds?

Has anyone tried the generic for of the regular effexor. My insurance is way more the effexor xr. The regular effexor has a generic.

put her on Zoloft without wheening her off of the Effexor XR. She is experience symptoms that include feeling very dizzy and nausea. Is this Dr. correct prescribing her this new medicine without slowly wheening her off of the Effexor XR. Are these symptoms due to her going "Cold Turkey" with the Effexor XR? Please advised.

Hello. I'm on 150mg of effexor xr daily, and about a month ago I ran out and couldn't get out to get more due to the weather. The first couple of days were ok, but after 4 or 5 days I thought I was losing my mind. Confusion, brain shocks, tremors and even hallucinations were among the withdrawal symptoms. I got back on it immediately. From what I've read and experienced, effexor is one of the hardest to get off of. Withdrawal can take days or even weeks.

I knew about the other withdrawal symptoms of effexor XR (irritability, rage, tiredness, ect.) but one thing I have noticed in the last couple days is that I feel really weak. It is all I can do to lift my kids (20 and 35 pounds respectively). I can't tell if I am getting sick or if this is something related to withdrawal. Can you tell me if this is a known symptom?

Information is there about Effexor XR. I found a pdf on a warning letter. This may not mean anything to you but it tells me that Wyeth tryed to pass this med off as a good medication and now those of us that are on it are having a hell of a time getting off of it.

Hi I am on Effexor XR 150mg, and it has done wonders for me. I started on 75mg and went on to 150mg after 2 months. Yes withdrawal is difficult, as I did stop it at one timne, but within a year my depression came back, so I started it again. Now I am calm with no depression, anxiety or panics. I feel so well. We all react differently to mnedication, some suit us, others dont. I have found the one that suits me. Let us know how you get on with psychiatrist.

would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.

I'm taking Effexor XR and my doctor just increased my dose to 150 mg. I think it has helped my depression more than my anxiety. I used to be on Zofloft, but didn't like it too much because of the sexual side effects. I think I am also experiencing some of that with the Effexor, but I'm going to give it some time to see what happens. Overall, I have had a very positive experience with it. Hope this helps.

I am supposed to start taking pristiq 50mg. along with effexor xr 75mg for a week and then effexor xr 37.5mg along with the pristiq for a week, and then just pristiq. I am afraid, seeing how just being off effexor for 7 hrs. put me in E.R. The Doctor said pristiq won't do that if I miss or am late on a dose. He better be right.

Hi, I have GAD and took lexapro and generic lexapro for almost 9 years before it stopped working for me. My doc put me on effexor xr on May 5 and I feel as though my anxiety has gotten worse. She has recommended we double the dose to 150 mgs . I am looking for advice as to whether I should continue on this path. I want so much for this to work ! Any thoughts? Thank you so much! I am trying to wean of effexor xr and I am short of breath at night-and can't sleep, is this a common withdrawal symptom?

Effexor XR at 37.5 seems to help my anxiety, mild depression and sleeplessness. I have never taken an antidepressant before. At age 73 can I take Effexor XR 37.5 for the rest of my life so that I do not go through withdrawal having to stop?

I was on 150 mg of effexor xr for around two years. i tapered very slowly and had horrible headaches and brain zaps that were very very scary. While tapering my doctor put me on 20 mg of prozac and I think that helped somewhat. but three months later im still having occasional brain zaps Are these symptoms going to be permanent? im afraid that the effexor has done damage to my brain.

I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.

I have never written in a forum before, but have been reading these for awhile now, especially since trying to get off Effexor XR. I have been on Effexor XR 225 milligrams for about 6 years after an extremely difficult 6 months at the time resulting in major depression and anxiety with panic attacks. To me, Effexor XR with an occasional alprazolam 0.25 milligrams (Xanax) had been the miracle drugs and saved my life. I take my medication every morning anywhere between 8 and 10 a.m.

I was on effexor twice about 8 & 10 years ago, and I chose to quit taking it. I had no side effects of withdrawl. I have currently been taking 150mg in the morning and another 75mg at night for the past year. I decided to get off of them, and I only took the 150mg for a about 3-4 days with no major changes. i have been off effexor xr for about 3 wks. and i am having intermittent episodes of shortness of breath . i relieve these with taking several deep breaths. is this a symptom of effexor withdrawal?

i was on effexor xr and quit cold turkey. I had no side effects that I can remember by stopping it. I did not even taper it off. I felt that it was better for me to do it that way. I know that the same may not work for you, but good luck in getting off it.

After a year my depression came back with a vengeance and I am now back on 150mg Effexor XR daily. I could not put myself through the withdrawal again. Let us know how you get on.

The lowest dose available in the market is known to me as the 37.5mg. Frankly, I'd like it for the 18.75 mg to exist - but how true is it? (Also, on other sites I read about people opening up the capsules but many don't recommend that as not all particles are exactly the same.
