Effexor withdrawal crying

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor withdrawal crying

effexor

Avatar n tn I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.
Avatar n tn I'm guessing you're suffering Effexor withdrawal, not Cymbalta withdrawal. It's not impossible to get a withdrawal from a short stay on a med, but unlikely. Sometimes a med just affects someone more profoundly than one would expect. But given you just came off Effexor, that being one of the hardest meds to stop taking and one that can have long withdrawals, I'm guess you didn't successfully stop it slowly enough to prevent withdrawals.
Avatar n tn I knew about the other withdrawal symptoms of effexor XR (irritability, rage, tiredness, ect.) but one thing I have noticed in the last couple days is that I feel really weak. It is all I can do to lift my kids (20 and 35 pounds respectively). I can't tell if I am getting sick or if this is something related to withdrawal. Can you tell me if this is a known symptom?
Avatar m tn If it is Effexor withdrawal, what could a neurologist do about it? And if the psychatrist is right, what else could it be?
Avatar f tn Maybe I am going through withdrawal symptoms too from Effexor too. I was on Effexor and Lyrica. Effexor for depression but also for neuropathy pain in my fee also. It seemed the Lyrica and Effexor combined worked for the pain, I went to a neurologist and he took me off the Lyrica, which made me gain 60lbs! lol... and put me on Zonisamide. It has been great for my pain. But now that aI have been on it awhile I am feeling sick to my stomach every morning and my head feels fuzzy.
Avatar f tn I have never written in a forum before, but have been reading these for awhile now, especially since trying to get off Effexor XR. I have been on Effexor XR 225 milligrams for about 6 years after an extremely difficult 6 months at the time resulting in major depression and anxiety with panic attacks. To me, Effexor XR with an occasional alprazolam 0.25 milligrams (Xanax) had been the miracle drugs and saved my life. I take my medication every morning anywhere between 8 and 10 a.m.
Avatar f tn It may be that you need an anti-depressant. I wasn't aware that the withdrawal could go on for so long, but it could be. I went off Effexor very gradually over many months. I had none of the withdrawal symptoms, but then I could not stop crying for a month. It was clear that I needed the Effexor. If you have had depression for awhile before you first went on the Effexor, you probably do need an anti-depressant.
Avatar n tn (My eyes felt like I could not control which direction I wanted them to go in). Effexor withdrawal also causes HUGE amounts of anxiety and stress, I also felt like I was slipping into rages, and the crying is part of it too. I feel really bad for you because it's like living through it again. Sorry to be blunt but your doctor sounds like AN IDIOT! He should know better but the fact that he doesn't is a warning to you that you are not receiving quality of care.
Avatar m tn Hello, i wanted some advice on withdrawal from venlafaxine and if you can recommend and way that is useful to minimise the withdrawal symptoms other than the obvious slow reduction in dose. I am currently taking 75mg modified release down from 150mg and i am not experiencing the withdrawal however i fear that when i go down to 37.5mg i will .
Avatar f tn I stopped Effexor XR 75mg 11 weeks ago... I stopped cold turkey. I took this drug for over 10 years at varying doses - mostly 150 mg... I was unable to work for almost 4 weeks due to the severe symptoms that it seems like everyone experiences (brain zaps, extreme irritability and crying spells, headaches, flu like aches, inability to concentrate etc etc) After the first month or so, it seemed like I was finally stabilizing.
Avatar f tn Hi, I have just come across this site. I am 7 days off Effexor after being on a 300mg dose for 4 years. I also have quetiapine at night to help me sleep. I have been experiencing what now seems to be normal side effects - brain zaps, different emotional states, crying for the first time in years, anger, frustration which is very hard for my husband and children and I just feel like a failure.
Avatar f tn I spoke with my doctor and tapered off the dosage of effexor and started on Prozac to help with the withdrawal symptoms. I took my last 1/4 pill of 37.5 effexor 1 week ago. I have been so sick, unable to eat, drink, crying, phobic, scared, nauseated and unable to function. I am really worried about my job as I have been emotional there and unable to do my job properly. Yesturday I felt that I just couldn't get through it, drove to work but don't know how I did it.
Avatar n tn Have you discussed your withdrawal symptoms and these feelings of being suicidal and crying? I would urge you to get in with a therapist at your earliest opportunity.
Avatar f tn I have been taking 75mg (3 a day) for a very long time and it worked well for me, however do to expense and sex drive, I am trying Wellbutrin. However, I have been crying for no reason, been irritable soon, and lots of anxiety. I have been taking it about 3 weeks. Will this get better or do I need to go back to Effexor. Please help.
Avatar n tn iOn this third day, off Effexor and on Wellbutrin, I have crying jags and unexpected significant irritability. My pharmacist and doctor's nurse do not have an answer so I turn to those who have used these drugs. 1) Does Wellbutrin have known interactions with other drugs. I do take some other meds that affect dopamine and seratonine levels 2) Since I have been able to miss Effexor without side effects, is it likely the Wellbutrin causing problems. These symptoms continue 24 hours.
Avatar n tn I had been reading (and crying while I read) other peoples experiences stopping Effexor. My doctor put me on a slow three month withdraw program. and I can say I am day #2 off EffexorXR! But that is about the extent of the excitedness. Can't sleep, or when I do, nightmares and starnge dreams insue. "brain shakiness," nausea, stomach pain, body aches, chills and sweats and dizziness.
1423357 tn?1511085442 She slowly ramped down on the Paxil BEFORE starting the Effexor. There were episodes of crying for no reason and several weeks of other slightly odd behavior before things smoothed out. But my wife says she has never felt as good as being on Paxil. So our physician has suggested that she return to Paxil. He told her to just stop taking Effexor, and begin the prescribed dose of Paxil, which I think is 30mg., her old dose.
Avatar m tn I started Effexor xr in 2003. Anxiety and depression. Worked great. Then in 2005 was diagnosed with Graves' disease. I thought I was pregnant I had no energy and was sluggish. My thyroid levels were extremely low. It's now 2016 and I'm still on my Effexor 150. I've been off them tho for almost 14 days. The withdrawal is terrible. I am vomiting and having brain zaps and also have become Dr Jekyll and mr Hyde. Crying, angry, excited.
Avatar m tn I've been off Effexor for 4 weeks today!!!! The withdrawal symptoms are all but gone for me, except migraines and vertigo. My PCP said it could be up to three months before all the symptoms are gone.
451366 tn?1211304932 I have really felt like I am going insane. I have never really been a depressed person before. I went on Effexor because of multiple happenings in my life at the time and I felt that I needed a little extra help. That was two years ago. I stayed on it because my doctor said it would help with my menopausal symptoms. Now that I have weaned off of it... just... I feel worse than I ever have. My question is; How long do these withdrawal symptoms last?
Avatar n tn s not as if nothing is in my system. My question is, are these emotional symptoms normal for Effexor withdrawal, even if I weaned down slowly? How long can I expect them for? I'm feeling very desperate. Thank you.
Avatar f tn The manufacturers of Effexor XR should be ashamed of themselves for not educating the public and prescribing physicians of the dreadful and serious side effects of Effexor withdrawal. If I had any idea that I would be experiencing this type of withdrawal, I would have never ever in a million years have been agreeable to taking the Effexor. I was having situational depression. This passes; I did not need to take the Effexor to fix it. My mistake.
Avatar f tn I am supposed to start Raloxifene. This may cause hot flashes. If severe enough, dr will rx Effexor to treat flashes. I have been reading such negative information about the side effects of Effexor, and even worse, the are withdrawal symptoms if you have to get off of it. Is there anyone reading this that actually had to take effexor along with Raloxifene? If so, could you tell me please if you had a good, or bad experience? Thank you for any input.
Avatar f tn Okay, first, why don't you have health insurance? It's the law that you do get it, and if you have little money, the subsidies make it almost free. But I fear that won't necessarily give you a great psychiatrist, and if you're seeing general practitioners, they really don't have much experience with medication.
Avatar n tn I think that this must be what it's like for a junkie to get off heroin or something. Unless you're a rich junkie and can afford to go to one of those places where they put you in a coma until after the withdrawal is over. I have been weaning myself off Effexor XR since March '09. I went to my shrink last week and told him I was down to 1 pill (75mg) a day. I was doing ok, and he said that I was not at a therapeutic level, so I might as well go off it altogether.
Avatar n tn I have been using Effexor for 15 years. I really feel that I do not need this medication any longer but everytiime I have tried withdrawal by tapering, I get into severe symptoms of brain zap, anger, crying and feeling totally out of control. I have ask from my familly MD's help but he suggests I may need to stay on the drug for the rest of my life! I have tried cutting back slowly and ever opeing the 75 mg caps and counting beads. I just can't make it past the horrors.
Avatar f tn t want to be addicted to Tramadol but used wisely it can smooth the withdrawal symptoms of Effexor extremely well. You might want to decide to go with tramadol and Wellbutrin together, this could prove to be a really good working antidepressants combo. Wellbutrin acts primarily as a dopamine reuptake inhibitor and to a lesser extend norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor without any significant serotonin affinity. M4 References - http://en.wikipedia.
