im on very high dosages of EFFEXor XR, Seroquel, Remeron,klonnonpin. im waking up in pools of sweat throughtout the night of my always horrible sleep.

I took effexor on and off for about five years, and experienced both the exccessive sweating (particularly in my legs, while sleeping), and the continued sweating after getting off the effexor. While it is highly unlikely that the sweating you are currently experiencing is posing any danger to your health, it is certainly a (sometimes debilitating) nuisance when trying to engage in day-to-day function.

I was on Effexor for 6 months and the sweating was terrible. I also gained about 20 pounds. I decided I couldn't take any more of the sweating so I just stopped taking it. BAD IDEA!!! My husband was ready to have me commited. My doctor has put me on Pristiq. And it is much better. No more sweating, thank God. It is made by the same company that makes Effexor with less sight effects.The thing with smelling like ammonia must be coming from something else.

Effexor can cause sweats. I used to take it and I had a lot of sweating, especially at night. Like Maddie said, it could be peri menopause too. When will you get your results back?

Celexa does, but when I started to take it I had that problem for about 4 to 5 weeks. Has not happened again. I started taking them early summer so I went though very hot weather.

Of course I live in Florida, so sweating is no big deal here! My biggest problem with Effexor was that after a year my face broke out in horrible large bumps. Dermatologist said it was making a mild case of Rosacea extremely bad. There was also the 50 lb weight gain:). As Wellbutrin is quite stimulating, I imagine it could cause sweating. Don't remember that as a side effect when I took it years ago. I tried it again after cancer, and it just caused diarrhea:).

After this and beginning the Tamoxifen ,I suffered severe depression, hot flashes, excessive sweating . I began Effexor and found it helped the depression but not the flashes. Now a year later, I have started having severe ups and downs and mood swings and the sweating still there among other things. I have been taking the B1 and E suggested. can not find the periden c. no help I finally am seeing an M.D.

Everytime I do any activity walking up stairs run the vacuum walk around the store I have excessive sweating of the back of the head my hair becomes soaking wet. It looks like i just steeped out of the shower i can ring the water from my hair my face gets flushed but if i sit down i cool off and then i am ok. I have had thyroid blood tests 3 times 2 times were normal 1 time was abnormal.

The problem is the Cymbalta was better with my depression but seems to increase my anxiety and cause me excessive sweating, esp in social situations. Does the sweating sound like a common side effect for SNRI?

I have been weaning of 37.5 mg of Effexor for a week and a half taking it every other day. When can I start taking 25-50mg of 5Htp. Will this be safe to do? The Effexor is driving me crazy (sweating, fatigue, nausea..etc)..

I was on 150 mg of effexor xr for around two years. i tapered very slowly and had horrible headaches and brain zaps that were very very scary. While tapering my doctor put me on 20 mg of prozac and I think that helped somewhat. but three months later im still having occasional brain zaps Are these symptoms going to be permanent? im afraid that the effexor has done damage to my brain.

I have just recently stop taking the generic for Effexor 37.5 mg. I have been on it for a little over two months now and have not been "feeling right" on it. I have been on Lamictal for years for Bipolar Disorder. Just recently, I have been having really strange dreams, and at some point, it always turns into a nightmare. It doesn't always stay bad, but at some point during the night, I wake up sweating. And its not just an I'm hot sweating, its like I wake up with my clothes wet sweating. I'm usually not hot, but I have to kick off my blanket to try and get my body heat back down.

I had sweating with Effexor and Cymbalta. It's not just the discomfort; you don't want to add sweating if you already have oily skin - breakouts. I think Prozac caused it, but I'm not sure. When I started taking it, I lost 20 pounds in 2 weeks! I was wanting to lose weight, but in a healthy way. My advice to you is get off of it asap.

I think my mom has it and the drs arent being any help. My mom was takin g350mg of effexor xr a day for like 4 years, the the dr told her to just stop cold turkey and presribed another antidepressant at a low dose, I stated that this should nto be done.

Not a doc, but the combo of Lexapro and Effexor is pretty odd to me. They both affect serotonin, but Effexor also affects norepinephrine. I can switching from one to the other, but don't understand taking both. You do need to discuss this thoroughly with a psychiatrist, but I'd personally get another opinion if you can for these reasons: This one is just adding meds to meds that don't work. That isn't how augmentation is usually done.

I have heard of and experienced excessive sweating at night while taking the Effexor. It is a pretty powerful med, and it may take you a while to get used to. If you feel that your negative side effects outweigh your positive effects, you may want to ask your doc about trying something else.

There are a great many posts here about withdrawing from Effexor. It is difficult to advise you because of the need to get off Effexor quickly. You may experience withdrawals for quite a time, it is different for each person. You are coming off really fast, and I wish I could help more. You do not need this when you are pregnant. If you are not working, then you will have to lie down and deal with the symptoms, but I do hope your doctor is more help.
