Effexor side effects nausea

Common Questions and Answers about Effexor side effects nausea

effexor

Avatar n tn Now I am just on the wellbutrin and I am fine, no side-effects at all. Also, the effexor withdrawal symptoms did have nausea, headache, vertigo... as well as other symptoms too for me, so it sounds like it could be effexor withdrawal for you too maybe. Hope the withdrawal symptoms get better soon! I really like wellbutrin, I hope it works well for you too!
Avatar m tn Hi there! Well, I've been on Effexor for over ten years. Started at a very low dose and I am at 150 mg for a long time now. So, I can't say if I remember all the side effects I had. But I will say that I definitely got sick to my stomach if I didn't eat immediately before taking it. This went away after a week or so as my body adjusted to the medication. I believe that the jitters and anxious feeling is all part of your anxiety.
Avatar n tn Shortly after I started the drug, I started having hot flashes and bad leg cramps. My doctor then prescribed Effexor for those side effects. I started at 37.5 mg and worked up to 75mg which I took for 5 years. A month ago he changed my prescription to 37.5 mg and said to stop once the medicine ran out. I took my last pill 3 days ago. I feel horrible. I have nausea, dizziness, a swoshing feeling when I turn my head from side to side and just feel bad overall. I have been cranky and moody.
Avatar n tn s what will continue to happen. Has anyone had these side effects that are ongoing when you take Prestiq? Also, how do you recommend weaning off the medication. In the past, I had taken Effexor and had to wean off by breaking open the capsule and decreasing the grains. Thanks for any suggestions.
Avatar n tn I was on Effexor for about 8 years and gained a lot of weight (but it could be some of the other drugs too). Since I got serious about losing weight my psychiatrist suggested we change to Welbutrin. I was on 150mg Efexor and then we changed to 75mg for two weeks, then 37.5 with 150mg of Welbutrin for two weeks and now only Welbutrin 300mg. It's only 3-4 days that I am completely off Effexor and since then I am dizzy as hell.
Avatar f tn s in a different class of drugs, no two drugs work the same or target the same neurotransmitter receptors, and you might get new side effects while getting used to the Prozac. Now, I know that some do use Prozac for this successfully, though I've heard it used more for other ssris, not for snris, but the best advice I've seen is go through your taper off any drug as long as it takes for you, not some generalized schedule, and recover fully before trying another medication.
Avatar n tn i had similar side effects when coming off the depo shot. I thought i was pregnant and took 3 tests. they went away but it took about 6mo. My docs checked my hormones and pituitary gland and they we all fine. It's probably not the effexor but ck w/ your doc anyway.
466024 tn?1208320081 As far as the Effexor side effects go, the first week or two it really mellows you out and yes, you do sleep a little more, at least it affected me that way. I am now on 75 milgrams and after a couple of weeks you settle into your old routine. Effexor has worked great for me, especially with the racing thoughts and anxiety.
Avatar m tn Hi i am trying to find out if any1 else who takes effexor has had as many side effects as i have, which is basically them all including seizures and blackouts? I was on 375mg put due to the risk of another seizure have dropped down to 300mg. Has anyone else experienced as many side effects and do you think its worth all the side effects to be be ?( stable for now neway) .The doctors seem to think its worth it but then they dont have a load of side effects to deal with.
Avatar n tn Cancer removed May 22, 2007, chemo July 2nd through October 8, 2007, and radiation on left breast November 2nd through December 26, 2008. Side effect from Taxol perminent numb toes, side effects so far from Tamoxifen body temperature changes of warmth then cold. The web page sites and telephone numbers did not have this information.
Avatar m tn Hi. I was diagnosed with IBS back in 1985. I have been blessedly symptom-free since 1994. I just had to get back on Effexor, and as of four days ago my stomach is such a mess. In trying to figure out how to describe it, I realized I'm having the exact same symptoms I had back then. The worst is constantly belching what tastes like rotten eggs. I have so much gas and bloating it's like there's no room in my stomach for food because of all the gas.
Avatar m tn Treatment started with 75mg Effexor and I got good result quickly. But the side effects started to mount up, I felt lazy, gained weight and lost interest in activities and sex. We cut back to 37.5 mg, things improved a little, but I want to feel more active again. it has been 18 months. Do I dare request to taper off? Is ther eeven a smaller dose? Would an different drug be an option. I think I am dealing with the flash back issue, but then again I am on Effexor!
Avatar m tn Over the 20+ years I have taken anti depressants, I have experienced quite a few different side effects. Effexor was the best drug I ever took. I did well on it. Whereas others have given me side effects I could not handle. If you really do not want to stay on Effexor, then have a word with your doctor.
Avatar f tn When I came off of it, my doc put me on a taper as I came off of it. I did notice some side effects like naseau and increased anxiety, however I kept an open line of communication with the doc. I asked if it would be okay to go on a slower taper as I came off of it. He agreed and the slower taper seemed to help with the side effects. I am glad that you are seeing a psychiatrist to help you with your medication prescriptions and questions.
Avatar f tn Hi all. I posted recently about my Effexor withdrawal hell! I am now over two weeks without effexor, but I also started prozac to help. The worst of the withdrawal is over and I am able to function again. However, I am still feeling some symptoms. Wether this is due to withdrawal or the prozac start up side effects I'm not sure. What I do know if that my psychiatrist thinks its just plain old depression and not the withdrawal. She increased my prozac from 10mg to 20mg.
647120 tn?1256601651 I thought I had a stomach flu because every time I eat for the past 3 days, I feel very nauseated and have lots of burping. Also have light-headedness increasing. The only change is I weaned off of Effexor under doctor's care over the past 3 weeks and am now off of it but still taking morphine 30 mg 3x daily plus Tramadol/Ultram 200 mg/day. I've been on these last 2 drugs 2 and 4 months, respectively. I also stopped trying to take Neurontin because it gives me terrible nerve twitches.
Avatar f tn Sweating and constantly being hot are a side-effect of Effexor. I weened off Effexor and am now just on Tamoxifen. I have the occassional hot flash, but it's quite a bit better than when I first started Tamoxifen and Effexor. The mood swings are coming back now almost a year after ending Effexor, but I'm learning to handle that myself instead of with drugs.
Avatar n tn The reason for the change was because of severe side effects. Dizziness, tremors, jaw pain, loud ringing in ears, nausea were the main issues. Now being off the med for 13 days, and have been off of work since Feb. 3rd, I continue to have problems. I cannot drive or even ride in a vehicle without getting severe dizziness. This also happens when watching TV when fast movements cross the screen.
Avatar f tn adverse effects related to effexor(venlafaxine) are nausea, somnolence, sweating dizziness, anxiety, sexual disturbances and hypertension
Avatar n tn I have been told that going off of effexor has the 2 worst side effects for this type of med. I really want to get off of them completely. I was tapering off and had to go back up on the dose til i felt better than took lower dose every other day than every 2 days. and so on. that helped. But i want to decrease again and i am nervouse about having the same bad reaction. wish they would tell you this before starting you on the meds to begin with. Good luck!
Avatar n tn will probably remain on it for life I find it does have most of the side effects listed on the leaflet that comes with it. Whilst the downside's not good, it's better than being too anxious/depressed etc to be able to enjoy anything. I'm on a very low dose now ~ 75mg. It may not be doing much now,but I won't risk a relapse by stopping it. Best wishes.
Avatar m tn The side effects should start letting up for you soon. Like I said, It took me a good two months to start feeling better. The nausea and brain zaps were horrible. Hang in there.
Avatar f tn My Doctor just switch my medication from 150 mg of Effexor XR to 400 mg of Seroquel XR. I dropped my dosage of Effexor gradually but I still experienced terrible withdrawl. Now I am experiencing bad side effects, " I'm guessing ths", from the Seroquel. I have gained weight in my stomach area very rapidly, I have pain and stiffness in my legs, 24 hour dry mouth and sinuses and I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat.
Avatar n tn I still have some of the side effects like Effexor but have very bad stomach cramps, nausea, bubble in chest feeling with gurgling at night, tingiling, trouble urinating like its held back, bowl movements only a couple x's a week and sometimes are loose with burning, pain in groin area and loss of sex drive with painful and extended ejaculation. Is this from the Celexa or going off the Effexor. Will these side effects go away as i take the Celexa longer since its only been 2 weeks?
Avatar f tn It took about two or three weeks before I was free of side effects. It may take a little longer for you, especially since you were taking it for so many years. However, there is an end in sight and you just have to remind yourself that your symptoms are side effects that are perfectly normal and you're not going crazy and you don't have anything physically wrong with you.
Avatar m tn I started Effexor XR about 4 days ago. So far it's been somewhat similar for the initial stage as other SSRI's, though maybe with a touch more anxiety. The last time I was on an SSRI (first time on an SNRI now), was a few months back. I'm also taking .5mg of clonazepam, and 20mg of propanolol, along with the 75mg of Effexor XR. I take all of them once per day, in the morning when I wake up (my peak anxiety time).
