Avatar m tn - what dosage did you overdose on?
Avatar f tn Back in 2006 I got really low and took an overdose of my antidepressant-Effexor and Olanzipine, I cant recall the exact quantities I took but it was about 8 capsules of Effexor (75mg) and a couple of Olanzipine (5mg). I seemed to 'pull through' this incident fairly well, but for the now I am wondering what kind of long term damage I could've done to my system, as most of the time I never really feel that healthy. Any help and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Avatar f tn You need to see your psychiatrist. You're on a very high dose of Effexor, and now you're also on a low dose of another med that targets serotonin. Two things might be happening -- one is an overdose of serotonin. The second is an overdose of dopamine.
Avatar f tn Highly unlikely, but if you are trying to overdose you need to go immediately to the emergency room. You need to be in a hospital setting until you get stabilized. The fact you're writing on this forum suggests you really don't want to die, so go to the hospital, get stabilized, and then with a psychiatrist figure out a plan to learn what you do want and how you might get there. Good luck and get help now.

Avatar f tn i'm on several medications: concerta 52 mg, topamax, and effexor. i am so tired still during the day. i'm also cold. i thought concerta would keep me focussed during the day; not still have me feeling lazy. what is wrong with me.
Avatar m tn Weakness or numbness on one side of the body does not mean that it was a Stroke. The adverse effects of Effexor overdose are- vertigo, dizziness, nausea, numbness/tingling in the hands or feet, sleepiness, rapid or slow heartbeat, low blood pressure, seizures, or coma. Since you had taken a heavy overdose and that too pills expired 5 yrs back, the adverse effects would be even worse in severity.
11083698 tn?1415151204 m just wondering if I should stop taking the Effexor right off and start the Celexa or somehow wean myself off of the Effexor first?
Avatar f tn From my studies in Cellular Medicine, I have researched this actually in the past and they called Prodromal symptoms, indicating the start of a disease, ahead of the specific symptoms of the disease manifest, by days or even by weeks! For women they are (in order of most common and down): 1. Unusual fatigue 2. Sleep disturbance 3. Shortness of breath under normal circumstances. 4. Unusual distress and anxiety for no apparent reason. 5.Unexplained Dyspepsia (indigestion).
Avatar m tn Ok i have been on effexor for a while now and really didnt want to quite taking it but i had no choice because of my insurance. Avatar n tn I have taken Effexor for two years. During this time, I have missed a dose up to two days without side effects. Three days ago I stopped Effexor and started Wellbutrin. Within an hour I had slight symptoms that have not ceased: vertigo, headache, nausea, and general weakness. iOn this third day, off Effexor and on Wellbutrin, I have crying jags and unexpected significant irritability. My pharmacist and doctor's nurse do not have an answer so I turn to those who have used these drugs.
Avatar m tn See psychiatrists, psychologists, counsellors, been in hospital, taken an overdose, etc, etc. Now I am well on 150mg Effexor XR and will never stop taking it. Glad you have had a diagnosis, because that will help you understand why you feel like you do. Hope the Cognitive Behavious Therapy works for you. That is one thing I have not tried. Let me know how you get on with it, and if it helps. Take care.
Avatar f tn I am on Effexor and have not been the best with taking it from time to time. The withdrawl from Effexor is bad and what you are describing sounds exactly like it. I am on a much higher dose and I can't tell you how long it will last as I take mine as soon as I start feeling miserable. I know that you usually have to wean off Effexor because of the withdrawl.
Avatar n tn I had a terrible time too getting off of effexor. All people are different like you said so it's hard to tell how long your going to go through this. What your feeling is normal when quitting this med. Did your Dr. suggest another med? Switching to another antidepressant will probably leeson your withdrawal for the effexor. I know that some of the antidepressants you can get as generic, much cheaper. I take paxil and get it for $4.00 and that's a months supply.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Effexor & verapamil for over two years now. My neurologist put me on these medications to help with my migraine headaches, which are hereditary. I have no health insurance and can no longer afford this medication and I began to cut my dose down. I was taking two 75mg tablets of Effexor daily. I KNOW what it feels like to be without this medicine and I'm going thru the same symptoms right now.
Avatar f tn Hi there. Have a look at the posting here with over 800 replies about withdrawal from Effexor. You will see how much this varies from person to person.
Avatar n tn , Symptom onset is usually rapid, often occurring within minutes after self-poisoning or a change in medication. Serotonin syndrome encompasses a wide range of clinical findings. Mild symptoms may only consist of tachycardia, shivering, diaphoresis (sweating), mydriasis (dilated pupils), myoclonus (intermittent tremor or twitching), as well as overresponsive reflexes.
Avatar n tn nausea, headache, vertigo. On this third day the symptoms are still mild to moderate at times; however, today I started having short crying spells and irritability.. Has anyone else had a similiar experience when changing to Wellbutrin. If not noted on this forum, I'll probably believe it is delayed withdrawal from Effexor, and go with some helpful suggestions found on this site.
Avatar f tn Could this possibly be the problem? Can Effexor still be impacting my life a year and a half after withdrawal? From July 2006 to December 2006 I went through a slow and difficult withdrawal from Effexor 37.5, after being on Effexor for about 10 years or so. I initially went on it just due to depression over a bad job situation; I ended up staying on it because I felt so lousy every time I tried to quite. Finally, I used the program and supplements from theroadback.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with clinical depression years ago (10+ years) and have been taking Effexor 225mg for the last 5 years or so. I've noticed that I'm not getting the same benefit that I used to and mentioned it to my GP. She has suggested that I think about using Wellbutrin in combination with the Effexor. I've read that this combo can cause a whole heap of trouble - i.e. seizures, liver/kidney function decreases, etc.
Avatar m tn Has anyone experienced withdrawal symptoms from Effexor 75mg? I went cold turkey and now it's my 6th day and still feeling strange. I'm having a hard time fighting it. Any solutions besides going on anti depression pills?
Avatar m tn Is it possible some of your symptoms are from stopping the effexor? Did you ask your doctor if your thyroid symptoms might diminish once the other med is out of your system? Hopefully your specialist can help you with your questions (be sure to write them down in advance) and also help you find another med similar to effexor but without this side effect. Good luck.
1252901 tn?1271131868 Based on the information you have provided me,I could see that the symptoms have been aggravating and possibly been relieving once you taken Effexor and Yaz simultaneously. These symptoms seems to occurring as an association.Even though these two classes of drugs don not have known interaction but still they do cause similar side affects.Yaz like oral contraceptive pills causes menstrual disturbances, breast swelling, tooth disorder and migraine.
558156 tn?1217727396 Overdose symptoms are depressed respitory system, you basically stop breathing, dizzy spells to the point where you feel as though you are passing out, blurry vision. OD dosages are certainly unique to each individual and based on tolerance levels. But I dont think 15mg of ocycodone are going to throw you into an od status.
Avatar m tn I was told to stop taking my antidepressant because I may get an overdose of seretonin. Otherwise know as Seritonin Syndrome. I stopped CT and have been tapering off tramadol for 2 weeks. I would not recommend to anyone to stop their antidepressant CT. Here's what an article said about stopping an antidepressant suddenly. "If you decide to stop taking antidepressants, it’s essential to taper off slowly.
Avatar n tn put her on Zoloft without wheening her off of the Effexor XR. She is experience symptoms that include feeling very dizzy and nausea. Is this Dr. correct prescribing her this new medicine without slowly wheening her off of the Effexor XR. Are these symptoms due to her going "Cold Turkey" with the Effexor XR? Please advised.
