Just wanted to know if anyone has any experience or info on pristiq. My anxietydepression with depersonalization is debilitating and ruining my life. I have tried everything but I think I need to go back on anti-depressants and this is the one my psy has prescribed to me, apparently it's a new med that has less side effects. I highly suggest seeing another psychiatrist asap. If you haven't had any bipolar symptoms, and haven't had extreme highs and lows, I don't understand why he is trying to convince you that you're bipolar.

my wife has the same problem she stopped the effexor and lost the 40 lbs she gained but now has high cholesterol when before the effexor she did not
How long were you on the Effexor? That makes a big difference. A lot of people seem to do pretty well when transitioning from one med to another. It's definitely more optimal than stopping a med all together.
These two meds are in a different class, so it could go either way. If you feel more comfortable with a slower taper from the Effexor, discuss it with your doctor!

I have been taking effexor xr, 150mg for a long time now to treat my anxiety and depression. I also take ritalin and xanax. I had not had any significant side effects ever. Recently, my doctor put me on Wellbutrin and increased my effexor to 225mg per day. I have been on them for two weeks now and have noticed some side effects and don't know if its normal or if it is coming from the wellbutrin or increase in effexor.
I have been on almost every depression pill known to man over the past 10 years and I can say the only prescriptions that did not cause me weight gain are the ones i'm currently on, which are citalopram and wellbutrin sr.
hrms..when i take effexor i dont get depressed but i still get anxiety..maybe he should request for some valium..
Personally, when I decide to get off Effexor again (this is the 3rd time I have taken Effexor), I will be under a doctors supervision. Withdrawal can be brutal if not tapered correctly and it takes several weeks of tapering. I would think you will still have some side effects but done over a long period of time they may not be too bad. Good luck to you.
I haven't started the Effexor yet. I'm not convinced of the prescription so I am seeking more info before I start. I have read nothing but bad side effects with effexor.
I then took Effexor and later ther Effexor XR. Effexor XR allowed me to live a reasonably normal life raising a child and having a career. For at least 3 years my depression has slowly gotten progressively worse. My counselor and I believe it is time to add an additional medication, possibly welbutrin or change to a different antidepressant. Currently I take 300mg of effexor XR. This is the same level I have taken for the entire time I've used effexor. I would like input and advice.
ve tried Prozac, Zoloft (bad reaction), Effexor (helpful but made my migraines worse). I did a 7 day trial of Cymbalta but it was making me so dizzy that I was sitting in bed crying from the spins.
I'm now on day 5 without it, and for some reason, I'm experiencing withdrawal symptoms: anxiety, brain zaps, feeling dizzy, nausea, intrusive thoughts and depression. Mind you, this anxiety is beyond what I experience. I also feel like I'm not "all there.
I am coming off Effexor XR. Just took my last does of 37.5mg yesterday, started weaning a few wks ago from 150mg. I am nauseated tonight, severely, I feel like I have a fever but don't, I have a terrible headache and I just had a HUGE anxiety attack. Please tell me if this is the effexor withdrawl. I started on Prozac and it was making me feel better but tonight with this panic attack IM SCARED!!! REALLY SCARED!
hi i was in the process of switching from zoloft to effexor due to the fact the zoloft doesnt help as it did before. but im confused, my new psych dr recomended i try taking both for at least a month TOGETHER. and im scared of this i see right here on this site it says theres possibly severe interactions to combing these?? i mentioned this to him and he seemed to brush that off or not agree??? help.
I am a 26 yr old female. I started taking Effexor XR (75mg) for anxiety and panic attacks. Recently found out I am pregnant. I am wondering the safest and quickest way to get off this drug. And is there any reason to be concerned for my baby's health as a result of being on effexor? Any info would be appreciated.
