effexor

Avatar n tn The doctor on the mh expert forum often uses a three week taper. You may find his taper program in the forum archives. Also you should discuss this with your doctor and withdraw under medical supervision.
Avatar n tn I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.
Avatar n tn I'm am MS patient on venlafaxine (Effexor) and at least in Europe, there is no generic available, but loads in the States. https://en.wikipedia.
Avatar n tn If no MD answers you here, try the mental health forum. I wish you the best. I take 325 mg. of effexor daily and some xanax as needed. All for PTSD. My MD oroginally prescribed the effexor, but the psychiatrist doubled it and gave me more xanax.
Avatar n tn I saw mt Dr. Since I have never really responded well to SSRI's he prescribed Effexor 37.5 for my panic attacks and GAD. I see that Effexor contains MDMA which is the drug Ecstacy. Side effects could be increased blood too. Has anyone had success or failure in usung Effexor? Any feedback is appreciated.
Avatar m tn I'll refer you to my reply to a similar question in this forum regarding Effexor withdrawal. http://www.medhelp.org/posts/show/554839?post_id=post_3111107 I had a bad experience with it, and though I didn't start taking a different med as I was phasing off of Effexor, you should be aware that many folks have had unpleasant physical withdrawal symptoms from it, including long plateau periods where they can't drop below a certain dosage level without having intolerable symptoms.
Avatar m tn any thoghts on effexor?
Avatar n tn Is the paxil not working or are you having undesired side effects? I have not taken effexor but people have in the forum. Medications are definitely a personal endeavor in my opinion. While some may reallly like one type, others may really dislike it. In my experience, sometimes it does take a little trial ande error to find out which one is a good 'fit' for you. As long as you do this under the advice of your doctor, you are doing the right thing in my opinion....keep us posted!
Avatar n tn I am trying to go off effexor xr I am lowering my doses and taking it everyother day but I start to feel dizzy and have panic attacts and feel like I cant breath especally at night. Will I be able to go off the effexor and feel normal again. When I have the panic attacs I feel like Im losing my mind. How long do withdrawn symptoms last.
Avatar f tn I had anxiety which got treated with effexor xr. I was on effexor for two years normal. I went to my psych and said that I am normal taper of seroxat and I want to be medicine free. He suggested me not to do that. On my request again and again he tapered off effexor. Last month I was on 50mg effecor and suddenly started to get all the anxiety symptoms back. The doctor put me on Zoloft 50 mg 2 tab day and 2 tabs evening starting from one tab and tappering off effexor plan.
Avatar n tn i just need too know if effexor could cause a person too black out and be someone else and how long will it take too become normal again
Avatar n tn I'm taking Effexor XR and am on tx. It works good for me and was prescribed by my hepatologist.
Avatar m tn Also, this is the Anxiety forum, and Effexor is more for depression, though it can be helpful if the anxiety is the result of depression as it very often is. St. John's Wort is only for depression, not for anxiety, and taking one herb probably won't help you if your problem was so bad you actually needed the Effexor.
Avatar m tn I just cant understand why your mid can play tricks on you that much that you can feel so terrible. Well to make a long story short, He reccomended to have me on effexor for a month, he gave me a packet that starts me out on 37.5 mg then after a week it goes up to 75mg. I am just curious if this medication will help and if this is dangerous. I asked him about the side effects and he said they were nothing really to worry about. Thank you for all your help.
Avatar n tn Hi Grandma 1964, I’m surprised that the estrogen has not helped you with the hot flashes after all this time. It seems that helping hot flashes is the one thing that almost everyone agrees estrogen does do well. What particular medication are you taking? I took Premarin for four months last year, and while it did help with the flashes and night sweats, it did little to help with my anxiety, stress and mood swings. If anything, it seemed to make things worse.
Avatar f tn 15 months ago I went off effexor after being on it for 11 years. As I weaned off it I developed ringing in the ears and vertigo spells lasting 5-20 seconds. I am still dealing with this. Sometimes the vertigo is like the room pushing out away and spinning and other times it is a sudden jolt that knocks me to the floor for a second--like the room suddenly quickly went on its side. I had an MRI and it is normal. I have seen and ENT and they said it is not my ears.
1102732 tn?1257823629 Hello there, Klonopin is used on a relatively short term. There is no sane doctor that will go for a 6 months treatment with a benzodiazepine like Klonopin. Klonopin is good to control panic attack when they happens but you can't take this for a long term treatment. Effexor was the drug to use for a long term treatment. I might also suggest you try Cymbalta. It's a SNRI like Effexor but it's newer and from the same maker of Effexor.
Avatar n tn I was on a high dosage of effexor for years and, before that other anti depressant drugs for 17 years. I've weaned myself off, finishing in February, 2009. What are the side affects after so many months? I went through withdrawls like a junkie would for 2 months. I am now interested to see if what and how I am feeling is due to the lack of that drug or some other cause. Thank you.
Avatar m tn I was 150mg Effexor daily for 10 months, and I knew by reading posts on here that it is a very difficult drug to withdraw from. My doctor suggested I come off it, and try life without anti depressants. It took me 10 months, but no withdrawals. Once before I came off cold turkey, and the withdrawals lasted a few weeks. Like you say, the brain zaps are the worse. You may wish to see how you go, and put up with these nasty withdrawals.
Avatar n tn I am trying to wean myself off Effexor XR. I take 150mg a day. The doctor I have been seeing wanted me to not only take 150mg of Effexor XR, but he wanted to add Wellbutrin 100mg twice a day. I thought this was way too much medication so I did not do this. I have been on 150mg of Effexor XR for about 2 years and feel it is way past time for me to be off of this type of medication.
Avatar m tn if one were to start taking effexor, would it lose its efficacy in time? how does it work? i ask because i've heard of people going from like 37.5 mg a day to 600.....this doesn't sound good. what's the deal there? any takers?
5203459 tn?1373367904 I've read that you cannot take this if you are on a SSRI, but Effexor XR is considered a SNRI. I just wanted to make sure before I start this regimine. Starting it to help come off of Tramadol.
Avatar f tn ve been a depressive for many years and have been successfully controlling it with Effexor XR. Recently due to other medical problems, my MO felt i should go off them. I thought it was as good a time as any to try and not replace them with other drugs. I weaned off as i was told over several weeks ( this was definetly not symptom free).
