746058 tn?1248344665 Hi, My name is Lois (Groggyfroggy) I'm new here. My OBGYN also put me on Effexor for hot flashes and night sweats because I wasn't a candidate for hormone therapy and I'm going thru' menopause. I happen to have POTS, but wasn't put on the medication for the POTS. I became very sick after that with nausea, shakiness, and a most terrible moodiness. I had to be taken off the medication and it took quite a while to get out of my system.
Avatar f tn I have arthritis in most of my joints, but I have more than one type of arthritis too. If you are looking for symptoms of osteoarthritis in the neck, they include pain, stiffness, tenderness, weakness, tingling or soarness in the arms, headaches and even balance problems.
429925 tn?1203905115 What is the maximum dosage for Effexor XR? Also, is it advisable to take with Lorazapham?
Avatar f tn My physician did not call in a temporary refill and I could not get any pills sent to me before next week so I had no choice but to withdraw suddenly. I have been without the Effexor for 5 days and I do feel horrible. I have not been out of the house and it is all I can do to wash the dishes and pick a few things up around the house. I too am suffering from dizziness, nausea, constipation, panic-like attacks, and now today I feel like I could cry all day.
11318065 tn?1462984479 Hello there. I was on Effexor 150mg for years. I have over the 20 years I had depression, taken many different anti depressants. I stopped Effexor cold turkey once, but the depressio9n came back, and I went back on it. Then a couple of years ago my doctor suggested I try again. This time I took 10 months to withdraw, and that way I did not get any withdrawals at all. My advice, do as I did, reduce very, very gradually.
Avatar f tn Has anyone else taken this combo with Effexor to help with the insomnia? I am open to other suggestions for natural supplements to take with the effexor. It seems to help with the migraines so far. I had only 1 so far in the past 3 wks. Before that, the dr. put me on Celexa and it caused 3 day migraines every week.
Avatar m tn I have been suffering from chronic pain. My doctor has prescribed Effexor for the depression that goes along with the chronic pain. I've read a little about Effexor and am not sure this is right for me. The dose now is 25mg once a day with food and increasing to 2 times a day as "tolerable". Any one here have experience with this stuff?
Avatar n tn He was also officially diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis about five years ago and took Methotrexate for a while. Unfortunately, the Methotrexate made his nausea so bad for the 3 days after he took it that he couldn't function (even after injecting it) and so he had to stop that. Of course, now his psoraisis is worse again.
Avatar f tn Stopping Effexor can be very hard for most people. Now, if it hasn't done anything for you, it will probably be easier, but you want to do some homework if you're going to rely on medications for your treatment. You need to know how they're used most safely. Cymbalta and Effexor work in a similar way, and target the same neurotransmitters, and that can cause problems.
Avatar n tn t go to sleep or if I go to sleep I wake up in the middle of the night. I was only taking the effexor for a few months and then I stopped because my family scared me into thinking that I would never be able to get off of it. While I was taking it I was so relaxed and I slept through out the night. I loved it. When I stopped nothing happened. I was prescribed 37.5 mg, which my doctor told me wasn't addictive. Would I be okay with a low dosage like that?
1331182 tn?1275475604 I had my last pill of effexor about 6 weeks ago. The day after I stopped effexor I took prozac 20mg a day for 3 days and then stopped. I did get some dizziness after a few days so I took more prozac, 20mg for a week and then 10mg for a week and then off. Now I am feeling good. No depression or irrational anxiety. However, I am occasionally experiencing mild light headedness. I recommend switching to prozac for two weeks after stopping effexor....I have been able to go to work and be fine.
Avatar m tn My wife has mild OCD and has problems with obsessisive thoughts, perfectionist tendencies and mood swings. We're looking for some advice on medications that are known to be effective in treating these symptoms. She's been on Effexor for a couple of years which has been tremendously successful but she had to stop taking it recently, (due to it causing high blood pressure), and we discovered the dark, ugly side of this medication.
Avatar f tn s a different story. Also, Pristiq is basically Effexor, so if the Effexor gave you problems, you might want to think about taking what is mostly the same thing updated to get more patent protection, kind of like Celexa and Lexapro. Not exactly the same drug, but very similar.
Avatar f tn This will go away. The brain zaps quit with me first but the nausea stayed for awhile. Have the brain zaps quit for you yet? Hang in there, okay. We're here to support you. M4you always gives great advice. He was trying to explain to you why your having these withdrawal symptoms.Sometimes it helps to know why your going through what your going through.
Avatar f tn Can anyone give me a comparison between Effexor XR and Zoloft for severe anxiety. My Psycharist has just put me on Effexor XR 37.5. I have also ben prescribed Zoloft in the last 6 months but never took it. I have taken Effexor XR 37.5 for two months but quit cold turkey because of the cost, side effects. I really do not want to start Effexor again because of the nasty withdrawal. Anyone had experience with either or both? With Zoloft, is it difficult to sleep at night?
Avatar f tn I am taking Effexor XR and it has been a lifesaver for me. I am on Arimidex and was having hot flashes and was depressed after breast cancer treatment. I had been on it before and stopped taking it without any problem. I know everybody is different. It sure helped me!!!

Avatar n tn Since I have been in the Effexor - for about 9 months now - my life has changed and for the first time in probably 40 years, I am happy again! I know there are good and bad for each medication but this is my experience.
Avatar f tn i have been on effexor xr for 10 yrs as a combination med to help treat my essential tremors as well as pts I am on day 3 of cold turkey due to a recent move and now no ins. my primary refuses to call in a script even after i asked him 5 yrs ago to take me off this drug.
Avatar n tn s ALL it is, is that POSSIBLY you are feeling more anxious, out of control and crying for no reason because you stopped the Effexor cold turkey, or way too fast. Is this the case? An abrupt stop of Effexor could, quite conceiveably, cause these reactions and NOT the Ativan. I find myself questioning your doctor. Most GP's don't really know squat about these sorts of meds beyond what the pharmacutical rep has told them.
410475 tn?1262942367 i was on effexor for depression and bi-polar, for about 4 yrs. the first two were great. but, as with any drug, your tolerance builds up after awhile and you need your dose adjusted. my doctor had me on 300mg a day for a longtime. i believe that i was too medicated,( because he had me on wellbutrin also.) the only thing that i have bad to say about being on it, was the withdrawl from coming off of it. i was physically ill for a few weeks.
