I have always had sweating as a side effect and usually, when I went off effexor, the sweating would stop. I decided to ween off because the excessive sweating had just gotten too extreme. I have now been off effexor for 5 weeks. To my despair, the extreme sweating has not ceased. I have gotten extensive blood work done and everything is normal. My doctors say they don't know what is causing it.
Does anybody know if there is an antidepressant that does NOT trigger excessive sweating?????
Everytime I do any activity walking up stairs run the vacuum walk around the store I have excessive sweating of the back of the head my hair becomes soaking wet. It looks like i just steeped out of the shower i can ring the water from my hair my face gets flushed but if i sit down i cool off and then i am ok. I have had thyroid blood tests 3 times 2 times were normal 1 time was abnormal.
im on very high dosages of EFFEXor XR, Seroquel, Remeron,klonnonpin. im waking up in pools of sweat throughtout the night of my always horrible sleep.

before bed (been on paxil 2-3yrs) Ibuprofen or Aleve As Needed For Pain and i just started effexor XR 150mg in the
morning (been about 4-6 weeks since i started it) ive been very fatigued and
somewhat weak , i do not drink alcohol or drugs been clean from opiates for 8
months

After this and beginning the Tamoxifen ,I suffered severe depression, hot flashes, excessive sweating . I began Effexor and found it helped the depression but not the flashes. Now a year later, I have started having severe ups and downs and mood swings and the sweating still there among other things.
I have been taking the B1 and E suggested. can not find the periden c. no help
I finally am seeing an M.D.
But of course, you also have to remember that medical conditions can cause true excessive sweating, which is usually a lot worse than what you are experiencing.
As an athlete, my sweat tells me a lot about my health. When I drink tons of water, am healthy and hydrated it encourages my body to release way more sweat than usual, but the sweat has no smell. When I drink lots of water, my sweat never has a strong smell but there is a lot of it.
Can you please give us more information to better answer your question? Have you been diagnosed with anxiety, are you male or female? I'm asking that question because if you're a female there could be a hormonal imbalance or menopause.
If you have anxiety that may be the cause of your sweating. Also, if you're on meds like and antidepressant sweating could be a possible side effect.
I have suffered for a few years now with excessive sweating from head. It actually runs like a faucet sometimes. It is ruining my life. I spent a fortune running to doctors (all types, even homeopathic) With now help. I have discovered one thing that was causing it just recently...so it is a little better. One of my pills...I was on Prednisone for my arthritis. Went off and my sweating isn't quite as excessive but still there. Now I hurt all over.

When someone has CHF it actually is pretty common for the person to sweat a little more than usual since the blood vessels in the skin do not dilate as they normally would because the blood flow and 02 levels in his body are being compromised with the CHF, I would simply make a call to his doc if it is bothering him and get their take on it. And yes there are things that the doc can prescribe to treat the issue....good luck to you and happy new year......

currently i'm on 300 mg of welbutrin xl in the evening before bed, 150 mg of welbutrin sr in the morning, 150 mg effexor xr in both morning and before bed, and 40 mg of geodon in the evening.
I was on Effexor for 6 months and the sweating was terrible. I also gained about 20 pounds. I decided I couldn't take any more of the sweating so I just stopped taking it. BAD IDEA!!! My husband was ready to have me commited. My doctor has put me on Pristiq. And it is much better. No more sweating, thank God. It is made by the same company that makes Effexor with less sight effects.The thing with smelling like ammonia must be coming from something else.
