effexor and twitching

I switched to Effexor XR about a year ago because Zoloft was not doing enough for my depression. I was and still am taking Wellbutrin XL to combat the sexual side effects. Shortly after I started Effexor my doctor also put me on Seroquel. So I have been on these 3 drugs for the past year. Last month my doctor suggested I up my dosage of Effexor from 150mg to 225 mg.

You can try taking a magnesium citrate supplement apart from the time when you take your Effexor and see if it helps. Second, Effexor is a stimulating antidepressant, targeting adrenaline as well as serotonin. For this reason it's not usually used if anxiety is the primary culprit, though for some it does help. This stimulating effect may be affecting you. Third, Effexor as with several antidepressants only stays in the body for a few hours.

They have alleviated slightly since being off of them, and my nausea has gone away since coming off. Effexor was not working for me at all and I hoped these symptoms were just side effects but evidently not. GasX, Tums, and the like have not helped at all.

Most Drs recommend giving these meds 6 weeks unless there are such terrible side effects that you can't tolerate them. You've been on this med for 5 weeks and you're feeling even worse on top of the eye twitching. I would recommend seeing your Dr to get off Effexor and to try something different. I do think it's a possibility that the eye twitching is from this med.

Hi, I have anxiety disorder with panic attacks. I have been taking citalopram (SSRI) since three years. Last week my muscles started twitching. The twitching isn't related to anxiety, I get it all day long, anywhere on my muscles. One jerk per around thirty seconds. The jerks are sometimes small, but often embarrasingly visible. Could it be a side effect of citalopram? Because it came out of the blue, after three years.

ive been on effexor now for two days now, and for some strange reason now i feel lioke **** dayin and dayout i know the only time i felt a bit better was only one half hour i took my second dose , ifeel jittery anxious i ve had diarea all morning after the second dose.I dont want to take my third dose after dinner tonight because i feel worse than before i started taking effoxor.Its a beautiful day outside for once and im stuck on the couch only to be five steps from the washroom .

Yes I take it but I haven't had the eye twitching thing yet and my doctor just bumped me to 40mg. As for how long it takes to come off I have heard that the doctor usually wants to go for 6 months on meds to rehabilitate. I think that is probably the shortest time they will go.

I have had mild headaches for about a month now but mostly I can describe it as pressure above my left eye and temple area. Not painful, but consistant pressure that stays with me most of the day. I also have developed unvoluntary muscle twitches any where from head to toe at any given time. They are mild but noticeable. so i tryed to manage the pain for as long as i could and also left my job due to depression and anxiety because of pain and spasm and couldnt hold my neck properly and felf very conscouse of this. ive had mri scans done and i have minor protrusion in 5 discs in neck and also one facet joint is wearing down and the curve on my neck has changed also. so i was told by consultant there was nothing i could do with my neck.

With Effexor it is alway wise to do a slow (very slow and long) taper off program if you should decide to quit. I have been thru Effexor withdrawl and it ain't fun. The symptoms you described are on target for Effexor withdrawl. Even with a slow taper I still got withdrawls, but not as bad.

Im having tremors right now and im home alone and scared. Its like my whole body from the neck down vibrates, muscle tense up and sometimes I start shaking really bad til i calm down. But the tremor stays....

You've learned why you don't do this with doctors but with psychiatrists you quiz first whether they know how to take you safely off these meds. Effexor and Paxil are the two most difficult drugs out there to stop taking, and you did it cold turkey. You should never ever ever do that -- it's hard enough to quit with slow tapering.

It sounds like it has triggered that. When I was on Cymbalta, I was a ball of anger, extremely anxious and stressed out and even with a strong sleep med, couldn't sleep at all.

Some meds that are used to treat anxiety are antidepressants such as effexor and Lexapro.. paxil. These are taken daily and usually take about 2 weeks to get to a therapeutic level. Others such as xanax... ativan.. valium and klonopin are also used either as needed or every day as determined by your doctor. Along with medication it's always best to work with a therapist to get to the "root" of the anxiety and to gain the tools and confidence to help you deal with it.

I have been taking Effexor XR 450mg and Buproprion 450mg for a couple of years. I'm weaning off the Effexor, going onto Pristiq and continuing the Buproprion.

would not take lexapro and effexor together. for effexor withdrawal i take omega3 fish oil caps twice a day//benadryl as needed for dizzyness\\ b12 sublingualtwice a day\\st. johns wort twice a day// vitamin d3 twice a day ---ibuprofen(motrin) as needed for muscle pain. as far as i am concerned, i will never take a prescription rx. for anxiety and depression again. i also have ptsd. i am sticking to st. johns wort and omega 3 fish oil caps. both will treat depression.

I switched from effexor to wellbutrin. I had to be on both medications at the same time for a long time because of the effexor withdrawal... it was so hard to come off the effexor, I was at the lowest dose for a very long time, 25mg, because I couldn't get off of it the withdrawal symptoms were too bad for me.

I take Effexor for depression and forgot to bring it with me on a 3 day getaway with my 2 young boys. My girlfriend who was also there offered me a Xanax for the 8 hr. drive home just in case I lose it (my mind that is). I only took half and it seemed to work great. The drive was a breeze. My doctor has suggested that I come off effexor (which i have been on for over 2 years) and start taking Wellbutrin XL. Do you think the PN was always this bad and reducing the Effexor is allowing the pain and numbness to come through, or do you think the additional issues are side-effects of reducing the Effexor?
